RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF ABOUT 2.5 METRES FROM 1300 METRES UP TO 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, permission was granted to Trainer Dallas Todywalla to saddle his charge BELLIGERENT in the 3rd race, at his (Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (99) – THE GIACOSA PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres, Runners – 9

 

Jockey S.Zervan (RIVER TERN) has been cautioned for shifting in before the Red Marker.

Soon after the start, GOLDEN ORRA (D.K.Ashish) was checked when STAR BLAZE (J.Chinoy) shied away and shifted in due to NURAI (Neeraj Rawal) shifting inwards.

Traveling some distance from the start, STAR BLAZE (J.Chinoy) was checked when NURAI (Neeraj Rawal) was inconvenienced as RIVER TERN (S.Zervan) shifted in due to the presence of BEMISAAL (Imran Chisty) on its outside, who was inclined to lug in. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures in respect of his charge BEMISAAL before next accepting to race.

DANCING MONEY (Shrikant Kamble) was observed to be lugging in during the race and while negotiating the bend, the mare shifted in and tightened BEMISAAL (Imran Chisty).  Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to take remedial measures in respect of his charge DANCING MONEY before next accepting to race. Nevertheless, Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been cautioned for failing to exhibit sufficient care. 

App.P.Trevor (BORN DESTINY) was observed to have used his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his third offence, the matter was reported to the Stewards. The Stewards interviewed App.P.Trevor and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s License w.e.f. 20th January 2011 to 23rd January 2011 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).

After the race, AGAIN GALLOP, BEMISAAL, STAR BLAZE  and GOLDEN ORRA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (100) – THE WORTHWHILE PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres, Runners – 4 – NO REPORT

 

RACE NO.3 (101)  – THE EXCLUSIVE VIRTUE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metrrs, Runners - 9

 

Approaching 200 metres, RED DRAGON (Neeraj Rawal) weakened, shifted in and dropped back, due to which POLARISER (App.P.Trevor), who was following, was eased off the heels of RED DRAGON and shifted out to progress. Since RED DRAGON was reported to be sore, no action has been initiated against anyone.

The Sr.V.O. reported that after the race, RED DRAGON was found to be trotting sore by the right fore leg. The gelding was given first aid treatment  and sent to the Equine Hospital by the Horse Ambulance for further management. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, GRAND WARRIOR & SAN RAFAEL were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4 (102)  – THE MAIA FINE JEWELLERY:   (About) 1400 Metres, Runners - 4

 

ANANDA (B.Prakash) was reluctant  to be stalled. Trainer Zadmal Singh has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LIONWOODS was found to be sound.

RACE NO.5 (103) – THE NEW YEAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners- 16

 

At the start, ARABIAN ROCK (Vikram Jodha) jumped out awkwardly.

At the start, STERLING SILVER (Paul Mulrennan, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and went on to FULL THROTTLE (S.K.Jadhav, dr.6).

Jockeys D.K.Ashish (RIVER GEM) and S.Sunil (GAMBA) have been fined Rs.1000/- each for shifting in before the Red Marker.

SEA WONDER (T.Atul) lugged-in in the early part of the race. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

Near 800 metres, BLUSH (H.G. Rathod) was tightened for room while racing between BLAU HIMMEL (D.S.Rathore) and ARABIAN ROCK (Vikram Jodha). Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

STERLING SILVER (Paul Mulrennan) hung out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

Jockey S.Sunil (GAMBA) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, RIVER GEM & STERLING SILVER were found to be sound.

RACE NO.6 (104)  – THE ROYAL CALCUTTA TURF CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1200 Mts, Runners - 7

 

DESERT RULE (S.Zervan) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter was restless in the gates. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been fined Rs.5000/- for declaring a Foreign Jockey in this race which was restricted for Indian Jockeys. Jockey S.S.Baria was declared to ride SLICKKIT.

Soon after the start, FLAMING ARROW (Suraj Narredu) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of DESERT RULE (S.Zervan).

In the final stages of the race, FLAMING ARROW (Suraj Narredu) shifted out, forcing its way and in the process made contact with HARMONICA (App.M.A.Roushan). Jockey Suraj Narredu has been fined Rs.5000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

After the race, FLAMING ARROW & DESERT RULE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.7 (105) – THE FORTUNE JEWELS MILLION: (About) 1400 Metres -  Runners - 8

 

Trainer N.B.Chenoy has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the registered colours. The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours i.e. All Black.

Jockeys Neeraj Rawal (BEYOND BELIEF) and R.Hughes (PORTRUSH) have been cautioned for shifting in before the Red Marker.

At the start, NATIVE KNIGHT (Imran Chisty) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and tightened SPRINT STAR (Suraj Narredu). NATIVE KNIGHT hung out in the straight and near 200 metres, carried PORTRUSH (R.Hughes) outwards. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BEYOND BELIEF) has been fined Rs.1000/- for losing his whip on the second occasion during the current Mumbai Meeting.

Jockey R.Hughes (PORTRUSH) has been cautioned for shifting ground inwards in the final 200 metres.

After the race, NATIVE KNIGHT was found to be sound.

RACE NO.8 (106) – THE PREMIEX JUVENILE CHALLENCE: About) 1000 Metres -  Runners – 12

 

While negotiating the bend ZORBA (Paul Mulrennan) and LAKE BEAUTY (Imran Chisty) hung out and kept a wide course in the straight. Trainers Nirad Karanjawala and Dallas Todywalla have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race with their respective charges.

After the race, LAKE BEAUTY was found to be sound.

RACE NO.9 (107) – THE NEW YEAR TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres, Runners- 15

 

At the request of Trainer Himmat Singh,  SIZZLING LOVE was examined at 0815 hours on  01/01/2011 and was found to have capped elbow (left side).  As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the horse from the Club’s Sr.V.O before next accepting to race.

 

PRINCE OF TROY (D.S.Rathore) did not get galloping room in the straight, wherein ASTON MARTIN (N.G.McCullagh) shifted out  twice and tightened him on to OCEAN POWER (D.K.Ashish). Thereafter, OCEAN POWER shifted in and carried PRINCE OF TROY inwards, who was placed awkwardly behind the heels of ASTON MARTIN and steadied. Jockeys N.G.McCullagh and D.K.Ashish have been fined 3000/- each for failing to exercise proper control over their respective mounts.

Jockey N.G.McCullagh (ASTON MARTIN) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. 

Jockey Vikram Jodha (ARABIAN EAGLE) reported the loss of whip, near 300 metres.

 

After the race, FESTIVE LIGHT, FLAMES OF FIRE & ROYAL COMPANION were found to be sound.

The urine sample of winner of  4th, 7th & 9th race viz. OCEAN YARRMAN, PORTRUSH and CAPE FERRAT as also that of NATIVE KNIGHT & ELOISE (7th race) and the special sample of BORN DESTINY (1st race) and LIONWOODS (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
