RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES TO 1200 METRES AND THEREAFTER 7 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.
On a request from Trainer Zadmal Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charge RIVER TERN in the 8th race, at his (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO 1. (364) THE STONE RIDGE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8
ADITI (Shrikant Kamble) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
CLASSIC MONEY (App.Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the early part of the race. Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, ADITI was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, ALEUTIAN ZONE was observed to have an abrasion at the left hock. HANNAH MONTANA was found to be sound.
RACE NO 2. (365) THE CREPUSCULAIRE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 6
GRANT PARK (App.A.Sandesh) lugged out in the final 300 metres. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey Akash Agarwal (ROYAL PRINCE) reported loss of whip near 400 metres. This being the second occasion on which the Jockey had lost his whip, he has been fined Rs.1000/-.
After the race, BONNY LIGHT was observed to have an abrasion at both hind fetlocks. GRANT PARK was found to be sound.
RACE NO 3. (366) THE CENTENARY PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 6
LAKE HURON (R.Shelar) ducked the front gates and went through, resulting in the saddle coming off. The filly was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have suffered abrasions on the back (both sides) with bleeding injury. As such, the LAKE HURON was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the horse from the Club’s Sr.V.O before next accepting to race. Further, Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
LUCKY MISBA (A.Ashad Asbar) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockeys A Ashad Asbar (LUCKY MISBA) and Neeraj Rawal (ASHWA GAURAV) have been fined Rs.3000/- and Rs.2000/- respectively, for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process ASHWA GAURAV went across TEODOR (I.Shaikh) and later on went across AFLAME (Dashrath Singh).
After the race, ASHWA GAURAV was found to be sound.
RACE NO 4. (367) THE STONE RIDGE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 8
Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge AURARIA. The Trainer explained that the mare had Hood on, this time which may have suited her and she showed improvement. He said that the mare was at longer odds and he had not fancied her. When asked to show the improvement by his horse vis-à-vis the common horse ARABIAN POWER, the Trainer stated that his horse had finished about 3 lengths behind that horse in the previous race and possibly ARABIAN POWER had run poorly this time. The explanation was noted.
After the race, RISING ASSET, ARABIAN POWER & GOLD VAULT were found to be sound.
RACE NO 5. (368) THE MOSAIC PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres - Runners – 10
CHOTEE BEGUM (F.Irani) was slow in the strides, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Near 800 metres, DISTINGUISHED (App.Akshay) and GOLDEN SPURS (D.S.Rathore) were involved in a jostle with each other as Jockey D.S.Rathore intended to shift out to avoid clipping the hind heels of STERLING SILVER (S.K.Jadhav). Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated.
Jockey D.S.Rathore (GOLDEN SPURS) has been fined Rs.2000/- for dropping his hands before passing the Post.
After the race, DETROIT DEMON was found to be sore by the right fore fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SILVER SCREEN was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind hind fetlock and MARUDHARA RATAN had a cut injury at the right fore cannon. CHOTEE BEGUM was found to be sound.
RACE NO 6. (369) THE MAY DAY TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 10
At the start, ROYAL HONOUR (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out awkwardly. BAYBLUES (App A Sandesh) jumped out awkwardly and threw its head up thereby losing ground. AFSANEH (Shrikant Kamble) veered to the outside, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

AFSANEH hung out during the race. Since the filly was reported to have been sore, no further action has been initiated in the matter.
BAYBLUES hung out during the race. Since the filly was reported to have broken a bloode vessel, no action has been initiated in the matter. However, the filly is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
Passing 400 metres, FAIRY QUEEN (C.S.Jodha) shifted outwards, and forced ROYAL HONOUR (Neeraj Rawal) to shift out who in turn carried ASHWA PRAJOT (J.chinoy) outwards. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated.
After the race, AFSANEH was found to be sore by the left hind leg.The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, CELSIUS & ROYAL HONOUR were found to be sound.
RACE NO 7. (370) THE MOSAIC PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres. Runners - 9
Jockey D.K.Ashish (REINSTATE) has been fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker.
Jockey I.Shaikh was questioned regarding his riding effort on MOMENT TO REMEMBER. The Jockey stated that he was instructed to be in 3rd or 4th position. He said that he had received two interferences in the straight, one near 400 metres and then again near 100 metres and thereafter the horse was not moving. Trainer Narendra Lagad stated that the Jockey had received two interferences but in his opinion he may have lost the third place. Since the horse had returned sore after the race, the explanation tendered by the Trainer and Jockey was noted and the enquiry was closed.
Near 400 metres, NATIONAL IKON (App.M.A.Roushan) shifted out and forced MOMENT TO REMEMBER (I.Shaikh) outwards. App.M.A.Roushan has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Near 100 metres, TOMORROWS DREAMS (Dashrath Singh) shifted out and inconvenienced MOMENT TO REMEMBER (I Shaikh). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
After the race, MOMENT TO REMEMBER was found to be sore by the left fore leg.The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO 8. (371) THE FABULOUS STAR PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres - Runners – 12
Jockey Zameer Sayyed (BORN DESTINY) was fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Further, he was reported to the Stewards for improper use of the whip on his mount and rasing his hand as a Victory sign before passing the post.
The Stewards interviewed Jockey Zameer Sayyed in the above connection and having heard the submissions made by him and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Zameer Sayyed held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount BORN DESTINY and also for improper use of the whip in the above race. However, since he admitted his guilt and apologized for the same, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided :-
a) to confirm the statutory fine of Rs.1,000/- imposed on Jockey Zameer Sayyed by the Stipendiary Stewards for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount BORN DESTINY;
b) that should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2011/12, the same will be granted to him, however, his Jockey’s license shall stand suspended for 21st July, 2011 for improper use of the whip on his mount BORN DESTINY;
c) to severely caution him for raising his hand as a Victory sign before passing the winning post.

After the race, ITSPIRITOFRACING was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, FIERY FORTUNE was found to be sore by the right fore leg and TALENTED was found to be sore by the left fore leg.Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, RIVER TERN was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd & 8th race viz. ABSOLUTE REALITY & BORN DESTINY and the special sample of ASHWA GAURAV (3rd race), BAYBLUES (6th race) and ITSPIRITOFRACING (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance. Sampling of Urine in respect of NATIONAL IKON (Winner - 7th race) was abandoned.

SUBJECT : CONFIRMATORY REPORT IN RESPECT OF b f “HAUNTING FANTASY” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.280 – THE FORBES BREEDERS’ JUVENILE FILLIES CHAMPIONSHIP (GRADE 3) RUN ON SUNDAY, 20TH MARCH, 2011 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 1st May, 2011 interviewed Trainer Karthik G. regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 28th April, 2011 from Equine Forensic Unit, C.V.R.L. Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from HAUNTING FANTASY (Winner) in Race No.280 – The Forbes Breeders’ Juvenile Fillies Championship (Grade 3) run on Sunday, 20th March, 2011, which read as under :-
“The analysis has confirmed the presence of FORMESTANE in this sample.”
A copy of the above report was handed over to Tr.Karthik G. and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.
Further, as per the Medication Rules, the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify HAUNTING FANTASY (Winner) in Race No.280 – The Forbes Breeders’ Juvenile Fillies Championship (Grade 3) run on Sunday, 20th March, 2011 and to revise the order of placing of the above race as under :-

SUBJECT : POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF ch g “WESTERN CHALLENGE” (UNPLACED) IN RACE NO.333 – THE AHU PLATE RUN ON SATURDAY, 16TH APRIL, 2011 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 1st May, 2011 interviewed Trainer Robert D,Mellow regarding the positive report dated 27th April, 2011 from the Equine Forensic Unit, C.V.R.L.,Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from WESTERN CHALLENGE (Unplaced) in Race No.333 – The Ahu Plate run on Saturday, 16th April, 2011 which read as under :-
“THE ANALYSIS HAS CONFIRMED THE PRESENCE OF INDOMETHACIN
IN THIS SAMPLE”
At this meeting, Tr.Robert D’Mellow. was handed over a copy of the above report. He was requested to inform to the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, in writing, within five days of opening the envelope that identifies the sample i.e. latest by 6th May, 2011, whether he wished the split sample of his charge WESTERN CHALLENGE to be sent to The HFL Sports Science, England, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Lab, or L.C.H., France,, for Confirmatory Analysis and also the name of the Witnessing Analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the Primary Laboratory as conclusive. Further, he was required to arrange the presence of the Witnessing Analyst at the Lab conducting the Confirmatory Analysis within 30 days of him nominating the name. In case he was unable to arrange within this period the Witnessing Analyst after having nominated the name, the Confirmatory Analysis will proceed without the Witnessing Analyst.
Tr.Robert D’Mellow was also asked to conduct his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

RE :RACE NO.349 THE GOLD DUST PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 23RD APRIL, 2011
The Stipendiary Stewards had questioned Trainer Mansoor Shah after the race with regard to the poor performance of his charge INSITE SOUL. The Trainer stated that the horse should have not run such a poor race and the reason that he could think of was that the horse may have bled internally and he had requested for the horse to be scoped. On a report from the Sr. VO that on scoping, the horse was found to have suffered EIPH of Grade 3 and which may have had a bearing on the performance of the horse, the enquiry was closed. Being a second time bleeder, INSITE SOUL has been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of eight weeks and until passed fit by the Club’s V.O.
