RACE DAY REPORTS
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1400 METRES TILL 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 6 METRES WIDE TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED ABOUT 5 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Zadmal Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charges SLEUTH and IBIS in the 3rd & 8th race, at his (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(104) – THE NORTHERN COMMAND PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres – 8 Runners
At the request of Trainer Robert D’Mellow, HIGH RETURNS was examined at 0730 hours on 30/08/2013 and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
At the start, GOLDEN SPURS (S.Shinde) jumped awkwardly, throwing its head.
Approaching 1000 metres, GOLDEN SPURS (S.Shinde) was hampered in his run as TO THE MOON (Dashrath Singh) shifted ground inwards. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.
Near 300 metres, WINDS OF CHANGE (S.P.Ranjane) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of TO THE MOON (Dashrath Singh) and in turn inconvenienced GOLDEN SPURS (S.Shinde).
After the race, JAIPUR GEM was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind coronet, SPEED UP had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock and WINCHESTER had a cut injury at the left hind cannon. WINDS OF CHANGE and TO THE MOON were found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(105) – THE ZAFAYONA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners
A False start was declared by the Starter as it was observed that TELL ME MORE (Dashrath Singh, Dr.3) had prematurely rushed in its Stall, forcing it to open before the other Gates. Since TELL ME MORE had behaved in a similar manner during the last Pune Season, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before next accepting to race.
A Steward’s Enquiry was held and considering that most of the horses had run a fair distance in the race while being pulled up and the performance of the horses could be affected if the race was re-run, the Stewards decided to declare the race null & void.
NIGELLA was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind fetlocks.
RACE NO.3(106) – THE NORTHERN COMMAND PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners
Trainer Zadmal Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing on his charge SLEUTH, wherein the horse was declared to have Steel Plates whereas he was found to have Aluminium Plates.
At the start, PRINCE ARIUS (App.S.Mosin, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly to the outside and went on to COURTSEY CALL (R.Shelardr.5) who had also jumped out awkwardly.
Soon after the start, ALWAYS SMILE (S.Shinde) shifted in and inconvenienced PRINCE ARIUS (App.S.Mosin) who in turn shifted in on to MIRACLE OF MERCY (S.Sunil) who inconvenienced SALSA (Zameer Sayyed). Jockey S.Shinde has been cautioned.
RACE NO.4(107) – THE AMBER ROYAL PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
At the start, MY FREEDOM (A.Sandesh, dr.6) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to RASHUN (T.S.Jodha, dr.7). SHOCKALOT (C.S.Jodha) also jumped out awkwardly.
Travelling some distance from the start, AURNIA (Nirmal Jodha) shifted in and hampered the running of RASHUN (T.S.Jodha). Jockey Nirmal Jodha has been cautioned.
After the race, SHOCKALOT was observed to have an injury at the right nostril.
RACE NO.5(108) – THE STAR MILLIONAIRE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
Soon after the start, RISING ANGEL (Neeraj Rawal, dr.9) commenced to shift in and in the process took MUMBAI KING (P.Trevor, dr.8) inwards and then went across CLASSIC RULER (App.S Mosin, dr.7) who in turn went on to CAPTAIN SMART (R.Vaibhav, dr.6). Shortly afterwards, RISING ANGEL shifted in and went on to CAPTAIN SMART (R.Vaibhav) who was steadied and shifted in and jostled with MOUNTAIN QUEEN (App.Prasad) on a few occasions. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs. 2,000/-.
After the race, TITLEIST was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind fetlocks and DOMAIN ANNA had an abrasion at the left hind coronet. PRIZE FIGHTER, RISING ANGEL, STAR ZONE (examined on 01/09/2013) and CAPTAIN SMART (examined on 01/09/2013) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(109) – THE RADIO ONE RUN: (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners
On arrival at the start, it was observed that PETITE FLEUR (C.S.Jodha) was sporting only a Pacifier instead of the declared equipment Pacifier Blinkers. The same was replaced at the starting gates and the filly ran with Pacifier Blinkers. Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been fined Rs.2000/- for this lapse.
At the start, STORMY PRINCESS (App.Sandeep Jadhav), REMEMBER ME (N.S.Parmar) and PANTHERA (App.S.Mosin) jumped awkwardly.
At the start, ICE EMPIRE (S.P.Ranjane, dr.8) leaned inwards and went on to PANTHERA (App.S.Mosin, dr.7).
Soon after the start, QUID PRO QUO (Neeraj Rawal) commenced to shift in on to ICE EMPIRE (S.P.Ranjane) who in turn went in on to PANTHERA (App.S.Mosin), who in turn went on to REMEMBER ME (N.S.Parmar) who went on to CHAMPAKALI (Dashrath Singh). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs,4,000/-.
Near 1000 metres, due to a tightly packed field, CHAMPAKALI (Dashrath Singh) became unbalanced and shifted out on to REMEMBER ME (N.S.Parmar), who in turn went on to KING JULIEN (Shrikant Kamble) who was steadied, due to which PANTHERA (App.S.Mosin), ICE EMPIRE (S.P.Ranjane) and STROMY PRINCESS (App.Sandeep Jadhav) were forced to travel wider at that stage.
Near 1000 metres, CHAMPAKALI (Dashrath Singh) who ran unsettled, shifted in hampered the running of PETITE FLEUR (C.S.Jodha) and was steadied.
BOURBON STREET (Malcolm Kharadi) was inconvenienced in the final stages of the race as PETITE FLEUR (C.S.Jodha) leaned inwards.
Jockey S.P.Ranjane (ICE EMPIRE) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, QUID PRO QUO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
The Sr.V.O. reported that CREAM OF THE CROP was examined at the stables in the morning on 01/09/2013 and found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, PANTHERA was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind cannon and had also lost its left hind plate. CHAMPAKALI had an abrasion at the right hind cannon. QUID PRO QUO and BOURBON STREET were found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(110) – THE GENERAL RAJENDRASINHJI MILLION: (About) 1800 Metres – 6 Runners
Jockey Suraj Narredu (HAWKER) reported that he lost his right rein passing 200 metres which he regained shortly.
After the race, AMISTAD was found to be sound
GHANGHORR (A.Ashhad Asbar) was placed fifth and SHYGIRL (Dashrath Singh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.8(111) – THE LEGAL STEPS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 12 Runners
WINDS OF LUCK (Vikram Jodha) planted losing about 7 lengths at the start. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its last outing, Tr.H.J.Antia has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before next accepting to race.
Near 1300 metres, LIGHTENING THUNDER (Akshay) shifted in and took the running of MACHO UNO (A.Ashhad Asbar). Jockey Akshay has been cautioned.
Jockey Akash Agarwal (TAAL AMMI) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in under the use of the whip in the straight.
After the race, LIGHTENING THUNDER was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind pastern. ALVIRA and VIVA ZAPATA were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of the 3rd, 5th, 6th & 7th race, viz. EARTH TAMER, TITLEIST, EDWINA and TO THE MANOR BORN, as also that of THE MINISTERIAN & AMISTAD (7th race) and the special sample of QUID PRO QUO (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
