RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, permission was granted to Trainer Dallas Todywallla to saddle his charges DANCE THE DREAM (1^st race), ROMANESQUE (2^nd race), JUSTIFIED & MISHKA’S PRIDE (3^rd race) and ROMANTIC EYES (4^th race), at his own (Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M.Narredu to saddle his charges POWERFUL STAR (3^rd race) and BONAFIDE (5^th race), at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Shazaan Shah to saddle his charges TEODOR MONTE (4^th race) and CABELLERO (5^th race), at his own (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(216) – THE MANYATTA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

MYRCELLA (App.H.Zeeshan) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

At the start, OFFICER IN COMMAND (App. Malam Singh, dr.6) jumped inwards and went on to OCTAVIUS (Bhawani Singh, dr.5). Thereafter, OCTAVIUS shifted out thereby tightening OFFICER IN COMMAND who had to be steadied. App. Malam Singh and App.Bhawani Singh have been cautioned.

After the race, OCTAVIUS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that after the race CORMORANT showed signs of distress at the Sampling Yard. After cold water hosing, the gelding recovered.

RACE NO.2(217) – THE V.R.MENON PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 8

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, STRONG VALUES was examined at 1000 hours on 30/03/2019 and found to be sore by the right hind leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, MAGICAL BLOSSOM was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that HIS MASTER’S VICE showed signs of distress after returning from the race. After cold water hosing, the gelding recovered.

After the race, ROMANESQUE was trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(218) – THE J.D. & PEGGY BANATWALLA TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6

At the start, SQUARE THE CIRCLE (P. S. Chouhan, dr.3) jumped outwards and at the same time POWERFUL STAR (Shrikant Kamble, dr.4) jumped inwards and made contact with each other.

Passing 1200 metres, ELATION (P. Trevor) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing MISHKA’S PRIDE (A. Sandesh) who brushed the rails and had to be steadied.

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (POWERFUL STAR) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

The Sr.V.O. reported that ELATION was examined at the stables in the morning on 01/04/2019 and found to be sound in the trot.

RACE NO.4(219) – THE SPRINT STAR PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14

Passing 250 metres, ROMANTIC EYES (S. Zervan) shifted in and made contact with CRISTO BOSS (Amyn Merchant).

In the final stages of the race, CRISTO BOSS (Amyn Merchant) shifted in under urgings and carried CRAY CRAY (App. Kunal Bunde) inwards. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned.

Passing the Winning Post, TEODOR MONTE (App. H. Zeeshan) veered out and bumped ROMANTIC EYES (S. Zervan). App. H. Zeeshan has been cautioned.

Jockey Kunal Bunde (CRAY CRAY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

After the race, TEODOR MONTE and CECELIA were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(220) – THE ROMAN DANCER PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

The Sr.V.O. reported that FALCONETTE was examined at the Saddling Enclosure and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

On arrival at the start, CABELLERO (App.H.Zeeshan) was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

BLITZKRIEG (App.Malam Singh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

At the start, DEMOCRAT (App. R. Ajinkya, dr.11) was observed to have jumped awkwardly on to GRAND SINATRA (P. S. Chouhan, dr.10). After the race, App. R. Ajinkya reported that he was not ready when the start was affected. The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the matter.

From the 300 metres, CABELLERO (App. H. Zeeshan) was observed to have hung out despite the Jockey’s efforts. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race his charge.

On being questioned after the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan (GRAND SINATRA) stated that his mount was erratic in the straight. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey Dashrath Singh (JULIO CESARO) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

After the race, ORION’S BELT was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, GRAND SINATRA, DEMOCRAT and CABELLERO were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(221) – THE SPRINT STAR PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14

At the request of Jockey Dashrath Singh, his mount FIREWINGS was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. on arrival at the start and was certified fit to race.

Soon after start, PANARAEA (J. Chinoy) shifted out on to NIGHT WATCH (App. R. Ajinkya) who in turn shifted out and made contact with MAKE IT SHINE (App. Raghuveer Singh).

App. Raghuveer Singh (MAKE IT SHINE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

After the race, FIREWINGS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ABRAXAS was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1^st, 3^rd and 4^th race viz. CORMORANT, MISHKA’S PRIDE and ANTARCTICA, and the special sample of CABELLERO (5^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
