RACE NO.1 (83) – THE FOREST FLAIR TROPHY:
(ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
On a request from Trainer Sangramsinh
N. Joshi, GIBSON KNOTT was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 11:30 a.m. on 31st
January 2026 at the stables and was found to be sore by right fore with a
painful swelling on its right fore tendon. As such,
the mare was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on
veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next
accepting to race.
BETWEEN FRIENDS (Prashant
P. Dhebe, dr.6) lost about a length at the start.
At the start, EKLA CHOLO (P. Trevor, dr.3)
jumped inwards onto SHE’S A TEASER (B. Nikhil, dr.2) who in turn shifted in
thereby tightening ARBITRAGE (App. Haridas
Gore, dr.1) racing along the rails. Jockey P. Trevor has been cautioned.
Approaching the 900 metres,
ANANYA (App. Raswarup) shifted in under urgings
thereby starting a chain reaction due to which LICKETY SPLIT (A. Prakash), SUSSING (S. A. Amit),
SHE’S A TEASER (B. Nikhil), BETWEEN FRIENDS (Prashant
P. Dhebe) and ARBITRAGE (App. Haridas
Gore) were inconvenienced and had to be checked, due to this incident BETWEEN
FRIENDS racing on the haunches of SUSSING had to check and change course. After
questioning all concerned, not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by
App. Ramswarup, his Apprentice Jockeys licence has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 22nd
February 2026 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
LICKETY SPLIT (A. Prakash)
was observed to have drifted out under pressure in the straight, despite its
rider’s efforts. As such, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to show his charge in a Mock Race to
the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.
After the race, the V.O.
reported the following:
SHE’S A TEASER was observed
to have broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated
ban period of four weeks. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s
V.O., before next accepting to race.
SUSSING was observed to have
broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban
period of four weeks. As such, the mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s
V.O., before next accepting to race.
LICKETY SPLIT was trotted and found to be
sound.
RACE NO.2 (84) – THE ENIGMA TROPHY: (ABOUT)
1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 7
MATISSE (Tom Marquand, dr.3) lost about a
length at the start.
Soon after the start, BUGATTI (App. Kirtish Bhagat) veered out and
trailed the field. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has
been asked to show his charge in two Mock Races to the satisfaction of the
Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.3 (85) – THE DANCING PRANCES TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 8
At the start, LUCKY DIAMOND
(C. S. Jodha, dr.3) jumped and whipped around thereby
taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Narendra
Lagad has been asked to show his charge in a Mock
Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to
race.
Soon after the start, SHADAI
(Mukesh Kumar) shifted in and went across VESTAMIRA (Neeraj Rawal).
From the 400 metres, SHADAI (Mukesh Kumar) was
observed to have drifted out under pressure, despite its rider’s efforts. As
such, Trainer James E. Mckeown has been asked to take
remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey T. S.
Jodha (SCORCHER) reported that his mount was running
green in the straight. This being the first outing of the colt, no action has
been initiated.
RACE NO.4 (86) – THE OYSTER COVE TROPHY:
(ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS – 8
BRASILIER (P. S. Kaviraj,
dr.3) refused to be stalled, despite substantial efforts. As such, the colt was
permitted to be withdrawn, before coming under the Starter’s order and Trainer
P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate
practice and show the colt in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter,
before next accepting to race
At
the start, VIKING (Akshay Kumar, dr.7) jumped out
brushing the gates and had to be steadied.
Passing the 300 metres,
HARRISON (T. S. Jodha) shifted out thereby carrying
LITTLE JOHN (P. Trevor) outwards. Jockey T. S. Jodha
has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, GIANT GOLD (App. Ramswarup) shifted in thereby tightening HARRISON (T. S. Jodha) causing the latter to be steadied. App. Ramswarup has been cautioned.
HARRISON (T. S. Jodha)
was observed to be inclined outwards in the straight, despite the rider’s
efforts. After the race, the gelding was
examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to be sore by right fore. As such,
the gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to
race.
After the race, the V.O. reported the
following:
EKATARINA
was trotted and found to be sound.
GIANT
GOLD was observed to have a gum injury.
RENOIR
was observed to have lost its right fore shoe.
RACE NO.5 (87) – THE DR. S. C. JAIN
SPRINTERS' CHAMPIONSHIP (Grade 2): (ABOUT) 1200
METRES – RUNNERS - 9
Approaching
the 400 metres, TIME AND TIDE (Suraj
Narredu) leaned out onto JADE (Vivek
G.) who further shifted out and carried MISS AMERICAN PIE (David Allan) and
SHAMBALA (P. Trevor) outwards. Jockey Suraj Narredu has been cautioned.
After the
race, Jockey Suraj Narredu
(TIME AND TIDE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his
efforts. As such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures, before next
accepting to race.
After the
race, the V.O. reported the following:
SHAMBALA
& TIME AND TIDE were trotted and found to be sound.
At the
request of Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy,
an endoscopy was performed on SHAMBALA and was found to have EIPH (Gr.III), the
horse is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and
has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.6 (88) – THE WEIZHOU TROPHY: (ABOUT)
1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
LUNA (N. S. Parmar, dr.1) took an awkward jump at the start.
Approaching the 300 metres, AZALEA (App. S. Siddharth)
leaned out onto HOLA AMIGO (K. Nazil) causing the
latter to be steadied, thereafter AZALEA further shifted out thereby carrying
WHISPER (App. Ramswarup) outwards. After the race on
questioning, App S. Siddharth stated that his mount
was shying away from the other runners. As such, Trainer P. Shroff
has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 150 metres, BEYOND STARS (S. Zervan)
shifted in and went across FLASH MOB (C. Umesh)
causing the latter to be checked. Jockey S. Zervan
has been cautioned.
Jockey Bhawani
Singh (IT’S MY WAY) reported that his mount hung-out in the straight, despite
his efforts. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy
has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, the V.O.
reported the following:
TAABIIR was observed to have
broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not permitted to race for
the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. As such, the gelding has to be passed
fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
MAGICAL MOMENTS & BEYOND
STARS were trotted and found to be sound.
AZALEA was trotted at the
stables and found to be sound.
At the behest of the
Stipendiary Stewards MAGICAL MOMENTS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the
stables on 1st February 2026 and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (89) – THE CAPTAIN COURAGE TROPHY:
(ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS – 12
On arrival at the starting
gate, at the request of Jockey A. S. Peter, ASHWA ALMATY was examined by the
Club’s Sr. V.O. and was certified fit to race.
DANCING STAR (K. Nazil, dr.4) planted in the stall thereby taking no
practical part in the race. As such, Trainer Narendra
Lagad has been asked to give his charge more gate
practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning
starting trials, before next accepting to race.
AMERICAN EAGLE (App. S. Siddharth, dr.1) lost about two lengths at the start.
At the start, MULAN (P.
Trevor, dr.7) jumped outwards at the same time JAISALMER (App. Ramswarup, dr.9) jumped inwards thereby tightening and
inconveniencing ASHWA ALMATY (A. S. Peter, dr.8) drawn between them causing the
latter to be checked. Jockey P. Trevor and App. Ramswawrup
have been cautioned.
At the start, BAKLAVA (S. G.
Prasad, dr.12) jumped inwards onto STAR EXPRESS (S. A. Amit,
dr.11) causing the latter to be steadied.
Passing the 1000 metres, AMERICAN EAGLE (App. S. Siddharth)
racing on the haunches of CHARLIE BROWN (Akshay
Kumar) was observed to have forced a passage at the same time HEAVEN’S RHYTHM (Yash Narredu) shifted in thereby
tightening and inconveniencing SKANDHA (T. S. Jodha).
After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, App. S. Siddharth and Jockey Yash Narredu have been fined Rs.2,000/-
each.
After the race, the V.O.
reported the following:
ASHWA ALMATY was trotted and
found to be sound.

of the ZAFFERANO (Winner – 2nd race), DIEGO GARCIA (Winner – 4th
race), TIME AND TIDE (Winner – 5th race), DREAM SELLER (2nd
place – 5th race) & ALGONQUIN (Winner – 6th race),
were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
The urine samples of the
MANSA MUSA (2nd race), VESTAMIRA (3rd race), HARRISON
& CACCINI (4th race), was collected for detection of prohibited
substances.

APPEAL BY TRAINER NIRAD KARANJAWALA AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE
CLUB TO FINE HIM AN AMOUNT OF RS.25,000/- FOR BEING GUILTY OF CONTRAVENING THE
CALENDAR NOTIFICATION REGARDING IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF A HORSE -
"MADISON" (DRAWN 8) RUN IN RACE NO. 33 - THE CASTLEBRIDGE TROPHY
(DISTANCE 1400 METRES) ON 21ST DECEMBER 2025 AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE.
In
connection with the captioned subject matter, the Board of Appeal at their
meeting held on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, considered Appeal dated 6th January
2026 from Trainer Nirad Karanjawala,
on the above subject.
In
this connection, the Board of Appeal having considered all documents and papers
that were submitted including his Grounds of Appeal and having heard the
submissions made by him, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied
their minds the Board decided to allow his appeal by rescinding the fine of
Rs.25,000/- imposed on him and refund the deposit.

RE: POSITIVE REPORT IN THE POST RACE URINE
AND BLOOD SAMPLES OF b c “BUCKINGHAM” (WINNER)
IN RACE NO.46 – THE LT. COL. GOVIND SINGH (VRC) TROPHY - RUN ON 28TH DECEMBER
2025:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting
held on Thursday, 29th January 2026, interviewed Trainer Karthik Ganapathy, in connection
with the Positive Report dated 27th January 2026 from Quantilab, Mauritius, in respect of the post-race urine and
blood samples of b c BUCKINGHAM (Winner) in Race No.46 – The Lt. Col. Govind Singh (VRC) Trophy run on 28th December
2025, which states as follows:-
“THE ANALYSIS OF THE ABOVE SAMPLE HAS SHOWN
THE PRESENCE OF LAMOTRIGINE”
At the said meeting, Trainer Karthik Ganapathy was provided
with a copy of the aforementioned reports as per rules as also a copy of the
quantification of this substance received from Quantilab,
Mauritius. He was requested to inform the Sr. Veterinary Officer of the Club,
in writing, whether he wish to send the “B” Samples for Confirmatory Analysis
within 48 hours of opening the envelope identifying the samples i.e. no later
than 31st January 2026 and also indicate his choice of
Laboratory for the Confirmatory Analysis of the split samples of his charge
BUCKINGHAM.
The available Laboratories for such analysis
are: The Hong Kong Jockey Club Laboratory, Hong Kong; LGC, Newmarket, UK; Laboratoire Des
Courses Hippiques (LCH), France; Laboratory of
Racing Chemistry (LRC), Japan. Failure to comply within stipulated period shall
result in the Stewards treating the report of the Primary Laboratory final and
conclusive.
Additionally, he is required to ensure the
presence of the Witnessing Analyst, if he so desires, at the Laboratory
conducting the Confirmatory Analysis for blood within 7 days and for the urine
within 30 days of the nomination. In the event, he is unable to arrange for the
presence of the witnessing analyst within the said
period, notwithstanding the nomination, the Confirmatory Analysis shall proceed
in the absence of the Witnessing Analyst.
Further, in accordance with the Medication
Rules presently in force, he is hereby informed that 50% of his runners shall
be subjected to follow-up samples.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF
“IRISH GOLD” (DRAWN 7) RUN IN RACE NO.69 THE MULRAJ GOCULDAS TROPHY (DIST. 1200
MTRS.) ON 18TH JANUARY 2026.
In connection with the captioned subject
matter, the Stipendiary Stewards at their meeting held on Wednesday, 28th
January 2026, having heard the submissions made by Jockey Akshay
Kumar and Trainer Dallas Todywalla, having viewed the
video recording of the race in question, the Stipendiary Stewards were not
satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Akshay
Kumar, keeping in mind the verdict between his mount IRISH GOLD and SON OF A
GUN (placed third) was a Short Head and it was observed that he was not
vigorous in his riding efforts till the winning post thereby losing the third
place on his mount IRISH GOLD in the above race. Therefore, it has been decided
to fine Jockey Akshay Kumar a sum of Rs.20,000/- for the above.
