On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge CARUSO in the 4th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed, permission was granted to Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai to saddle his charge AN ACQUIRED TASTE in the 8th race, at his (Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(299) – THE OPEN SPACES TROPHY:(About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 7
At the start, CAESARS WIFE (Kavraj Singh) jumped out awkwardly and tried to veer outwards thereby losing ground.
AROMATICA (P.Trevor) lugged out throughout the race wherein the filly shifted out at the start and went out on to MINSTREL SON (Ishwar Pardeshi, dr.3), who in turn went on to CASINO JACK (D.K.Ashish, dr.4), who in turn went on to CAESARS WIFE (Kavraj Singh, dr.5) causing the latter to travel wide and then again in the final 300 metres hampered the running of PLATED (T.S.Jodha). Since the filly had behaved in similar manner in her previous starts, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race, before next accepting to race her.
Jockey D.K.Ashish (CASINO JACK) has been fined Rs 1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, AROMATICA and PLATED were found to be sound. MINSTREL SON was observed to have lost its right hind shoe.
RACE NO.2(300) –THE HORNBY VELLARD TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres –Runners – 5
Jockey J.H.Christopher (RAZEENAA) has been fined Rs 2,000/- for improper use of the whip wherein he used the whip with his right hand while his mount was shifting out in the straight.
After the race, RAZEENAA was found to be sound but having a cut injury at the right hind pastern. MUFASA was found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(301)– THE GREEN CIRCLE FOUNDATION TROPHY (DIV.II):(About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 8
The Sr.V.O. reported that SPEAR OF TRIUM got loose in the stable on the way to the saddling enclosure, had a fall and sustained injuries at the left stifle and shoulder. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Jockey S.Zervan (FAST LADY) reported that his mount lugged out in the straight and was hesitant while galloping. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (PRAELECTOR) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Jockey Anil Baandal (DESERT RAGE) reported that his mount lugged-in during the race. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, GRAND GIBRALTAR and FAST LADY were found to be sound. RED RUBY had lost its left hind plate.
RACE NO.4(302) – THE MAHALAKSHMI TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9
HEATWAVE (S.P.Ranjane) was reluctant to be stalled. BOMBARDIER (Suraj Narredu) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle, resulting in the gelding losing about 3 lengths at the start. Trainers H.J.Antia and M.Narredu have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Jockey Suraj Narredu (BOMBARDIER) has been fined Rs 1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
Jockey S.P.Ranjane (HEATWAVE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being the fourth offence with regard to use of the Whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, the matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed the Jockey S.P.Ranjane and having heard him, held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount HEATWAVE. Therefore, the Stewards decided to deprive him of the use of the whip in races with immediate effect till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2014/ 15, Further, if he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2014/15, the same may be granted to him. However, he shall be deprived of the use of the whip in races for the first two race days of the Pune Meeting 2014 i.e. 24th July, 2014 and 25th July, 2014.
Approaching 1000 metres, MOON SHADOW (S.G.Prasad) commenced to lean inwards and then shifted-in and made contact with HEATWAVE (S.P.Ranjane), who in turn made contact with REMEMBER ME (A.Sandesh) who was unbalanced and shifted out on the HEATWAVE who lost position. Jockey S.G.Prasad has been severely reprimanded for making insufficient effort to control his mount.
After the race, PAPAKURA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SET TO FLY, CARUSO and HALLE were found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(303) – THE JOGGERS & WALKERS TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10
At the request of Trainer Vijay Kasbekar, MIRACLE OF MERCY was examined at 0945 hours on 30/03/2014 and was found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, SUNSHINE HEART (N.S.Pawar, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to SEACAUCUS (I.Pasha, dr.3).
At the start, UMARKOT (Kavraj Singh, dr.5) and BASIC LIFE (S.P.Ranjane, dr.4) made contact with each other.
BEAU ROYALE (B.Nikhil) and UMARKOT (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainers Narendra Lagad and Magansingh P.Jodha have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that Jockey S.P.Ranjane (BASIC LIFE) weighed in 2 kg over the weight at which he had weighed out at. It was felt that the overweight so carried may have effected the placing of BASIC LIFE, therefore, Jockey S.P.Ranjane has been suspended w.e.f. 19th April, 2014 to 20th April 2014 for his lapse (permitted to ride work/mock race).
After the race, BEAU ROYALE, SEACAUCUS and NEGREDO were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(304) – THE GREEN CIRCLE FOUNDATION TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 8
At the request of Trainer P.Shroff, MINE FOREVER was examined at 10.40 hours on 30/03/2014 and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
ANTARTIC (I.Pasha) jumped out and veered to the outside resulting in the filly losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, SPIDER MAN (C.S.Jodha, dr.6) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to PALATIAL (R.Shelar, dr.7).
After the race, AL SHAMSHEER was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BEACH GAME was found to be sound, but having a gum injury.
RACE NO.7(305) – THE HERITAGE OF MUMBAI TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 11
Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs 1,000/- for using bandages on both forelegs of his charge DIOR without permission.
Approaching 1200 metres, ROMANTIC BEAUTY (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and hampered the running of FEAST OF LOVE (P.Trevor). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs 2,000/-.

After the race, PRESENCE, JUST BY CHANCE, THE OTHER SONG, WORD OF HONOUR and COPPER GLOW (examined on 31/03/2014) were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(306) – TATA HOUSING PRESENTS THE MAHALAKSHMI 130 YEARS ANNIVERSARY TURF CHAMPIONSHIP: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners – 7 – NO REPORT
RACE NO.9(307) – THE HOOVES & HORSEPOWER TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10
When FLASHING CHIEFTAIN (Neeraj Rawal) was brought into the parade ring, the Jockey found that one of the stirrups was missing which resulted in the Jockey being re-weighed with the correct equipment and re-saddled. Trainer Karthik G and Jockey Neeraj Rawal have been fined Rs 2,000/- each for their lapse.
PEPITO (C.S.Jodha) took a fly jump and landed on its knees resulting in the Jockey being dislodged.
At the start, PEPITO (C.S.Jodha) fly-jumped and landed awkwardly whereby the Jockey lost his balance and was dislodged.
Passing 1200 metres, NAZRANA (H.G.Rathod) was tightened and lost position while racing on the inside of SCENT OF A WOMAN (S.Zervan) who shifted-in as the gelding was being settled. Jockey S.Zervan has been cautioned.
After the race, PEPITO was found to be sound.
RACE NO.10(308) – THE JOGGERS & WALKERS TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12
Jockey S.S.Baria (NICANORA) reported the loss of whip near the winning post. This being the second occasion of him losing the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs 1,000/-.
After the race, SCARLET OF HOPE was found to be sound, but having a gum injury. CROWNED PRINCESS and STEADFAST were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th race, viz. HIGHLANDER, POLYDENCES, MAMBO MAGIC, MANYATTA, FLASHING CHIEFTAIN and COSMIC DANCER, as also that of AN ACQUIRED TASTE & MONTREAL (8th race), and the special sample of AL SHAMSHEER (6th race) and NICANORA (10th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.1,000/- for having accepted with his charge ALWAYS SMILE in the above race while the horse was on a Veterinary Ban. The horse was struck out at the Acceptance Stage.

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 28th March, 2014 considered the Appeal preferred by Jockey Dashrath Singh and having considered the submissions made by him and his spokesman, Mr.S.Kapoor and having viewed the video tape recording of the race in question as also Race No.243 in normal motion and in different angles, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their mind, decided to reject his Appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of he Stewards of the Club conveyed to him stands. Further, he was severely warned for the future.

RE: MERCY PETITION FROM JOCKEY V.CHANDRAKANT IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F 24TH FEBRUARY, 2014 TILL THE END OF MUMBAI MEETING 2013/14 FOR NOT PERMITTING HIS MOUNT “ROCK THE TURF” TO RUN ON ITS MERITS IN RACE NO.177 – THE ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV.I) RUN ON SUNDAY, 2ND FEBRUARY, 2014 :
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 28th March, 2014 considered Mercy Petition from Jockey V.Chandrakant and having studied all documents and papers that were submitted and having heard him and having considered his mercy petition, decided to partially allow his Mercy Petition. Accordingly, it was decided to modify the period his punishment i.e. his Jockey’s license now stands suspended w.e.f. 24th February, 2014 to 15th April, 2014 (both days inclusive).

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF “HIDDEN ASSET” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.177 – THE ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV.II) RUN ON 2ND FEBRUARY, 2014 – IN CHARGE OF TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 30th March, 2014 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards/Sr.V.O. in the above enquiry and interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah.
The Stewards after having thoroughly enquired into the matter and having applied their minds to the entire facts and circumstances of the case and to all papers, proceedings, reports and records and submissions made in the matter and also having permitted Trainer Mansoor Shah to make submissions in the subject matter, found that he had no mitigating circumstances to offer in the subject case and as such, held him guilty of breach of the Medication Rules, consequently he became vicariously liable. Further, the Stewards also held Trainer Mansoor Shah guilty of not maintaining a proper Veterinary Log Book thereby contravening the Calendar Notifications dated 27th August, 1989 and 17th September, 2011 -”Re : Maintenance of Log Books” and for changing his statements in the enquiry conducted by the Stewards. Therefore, the Stewards decided :-
a) To suspend Mr.Mansoor Shah’s Trainer’s license for a period of 30 days and to impose on him a fine of Rs.10,000/- for breach of the Medication Rules;
b) To suspend his Trainer’s license for a further period of 30 days for not maintaining a proper Veterinary Log Book and for changing his statements in the enquiry conducted by the Stewards.
In view of the above, Mr.Mansoor Shah’s Trainer’s license stands suspended w.e.f. 14th April, 2014 to 30th April, 2014. Thereafter, if he applies for a Trainer’s license for the Season 2014/15, it may be granted to him, however, his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 24th July, 2014 to 4th September, 2014 (both days inclusive).
