RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1600 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 4 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge BERLUSCONI in the 6th race, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(170) - THE MIDORI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

After being loaded, RIO DEL REY (T.S.Jodha), in anticipation of the start, prematurely charged the front gates and due to the sound of the barrier, DANCING MONEY (App.Sandeep Jadhav) also charged the front gates and then reared up and fell backward; in the process the Jockey was injured. On examination by the Club’s V.O., the mare was found to have suffered bleeding injury at the right fore cannon and a cut injury at the left fore fetlock. As such, DANCING MONEY was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. The Trainer has to obtain a fitness certificate for the mare from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

Soon after the start, ROYALTY (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.5) was tightened between SOLID ROCK (A.M.Tograllu, dr.4) who shifted out and RIO DEL RAY (T.S.Jodha, dr.6) who  shifted inwards at the same time. Both Jockeys A.M.Tograllu and T.S.Jodha have been cautioned.

 

Approaching 600 metres, CHASING MEMORIES (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) clipped the hind heels of SOLID ROCK (A.M.Tograllu) and stumbled and lost its position, and in turn hampered the running of MISCHEVIOUS Z (S.S.Baria) who was following and whilst CHASING MEMORIES regained its balance after the stumble, the gelding shifted out and carried LAURUS TIKATI (J.Chinoy) outwards. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

 

Approaching 200 metres, OCEAN OF FAITH (Kavraj Singh) was inconvenienced while racing between ARABIAN CHIEF (C.S.Jodha) and MISCHEVIOUS Z (S.S.Baria).

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (ARABIAN CHIEF) reported that his mount was inclined to lean inward in the straight. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ROYALTY was observed to have a cut injury at the right fore cannon, CHASING MEMORIES had a cut injury at the right fore fetlock, OCEAN OF FAITH had a cut injury at the right fore and right hind cannon, MISCHEVIOUS Z had an abrasion at the right hind cannon, LAURUS TIKATI had an abrasion at the right hind pastern and RIO DEL RAY had a gum injury. CHASING MEMORIES and SOLID ROCK were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(171) - THE E D’AVOINE TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 10 Runners

 

DAUGHTEROFDESTINY (C.S.Jodha) lugged out while negotiating the bend and carried O’PRINCESS (Dashrath Singh) outwards, who in turn carried ONLY WHITE (T.S.Jodha) outwards. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next  accepting to race the mare.

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (O’PRINCESS) reported loss of whip about 50 metres from the Post. 

 

KRYPTON (P.Trevor) lugged out in the final stages of the race. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Trainer M.K.Jadhav was questioned regarding the comparative performance of KRYPTON in this race which the gelding won as compared to its earlier runs during the current Pune Meeting. Trainer M.K.Jadhav stated that the gelding was working well but he was not passing horses  in the race as well as in morning work, therefore he was using Blinkers on this gelding, however, the horse did not show any improvement, as such, he had discontinued the Blinkers this time and had asked the Jockey to ride from the front position as he wanted to see how the gelding performs. He said that he had not fancied the gelding in this race. He added that this time there was a difference of 400 metres.  The explanation was noted.

 

Trainer Rehanullah Khan was questioned regarding the poor performance of ASAHI. Trainer Rehanullah Khan said that the gelding travelled well in the first part of the race but fizzled out the moment the Jockey asked for an effort. He had no explanation to offer for this poor performance of his horse and therefore he had the horse scoped at the Club’s Equine Hospital. The Endoscopy report showed Grade II EIPH which is considered to be clean. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, ETIQUETTE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DAUGHTEROFDESTINY was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon. ASAHI and ONLY WHITE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(172) – THE MIDORI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

 

ARABIAN EMPIRE (S.Sunil) fly jumped, losing a length at the start.

 

At the start, JUSTERINI (Shammi Khan, dr.8) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to SIZZLING LOVE (Dashrath Singh, dr.7).

 

MACHO UNO (Kavraj Singh) was inclined to lug-in in the straight. Trainer Anil Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, BLUSH was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind frog and bulb of heel. JUSTERINI was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(173) – THE FOURTH ESTATE TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 7 Runners

 

IMPRESSIVE TOUCH (P.Trevor)  fly jumped losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Soon after the start, GRANDE DAME (Akshay, dr.6) leaned inwards and caused a chain reaction, in which GRANDE DAME went on to SET TO FLY (J.Chinoy, dr.5) who went on to MR CHIVALRY (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.4), who went on to ANTONIUS MAXIMUS (A.M.Tograllu, dr.3), who in turn shifted in and made contact with BURGUNDY ROSE (A.Sandesh, dr.2).  The incident was accidental, as such no action was initiated in the matter.

 

IMPRESSIVE TOUCH (P.Trevor) lugged in during the race and near 700 metres, the filly scrapped the rails. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (IMPRESSIVE TOUCH) reported loss of his whip near 300 metres. On questioning, the Jockey stated that his whip struck the rails.  

 

After the race, JUSTICE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, IMPRESSIVE TOUCH was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(174) - THE HIGHLAND RULE TROPHY:  (About) 1600 Metres – 6 Runners

 

At the start, LIMITLESS HILLS (Dashrath Singh, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to CAPRIOLE (A.Sandesh, dr.5).

 

An objection was lodged by C.Rajendra, rider of SU CHALIYO (Placed Third), against VOLTERRA (S.Zervan, placed First). The reason being, at about 550 metres, VOLTERRA took his ground and knocked him out and he was carrying 60 kg. and to improve from there he had to pull his horse out and that cost him the race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

 

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.Zervan for careless riding on VOLTERRA and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 14th October, 2012 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, LIMITLESS HILLS, CAPRIOLE and STROMBOLI were found to be sound. LIMITLESS HILLS had a cut injury at both the hind coronet.   

 

RACE NO.6(175) – THE NIRMAL RUIA GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 7 Runners

 

In the final 100 metres, CARDINAL (B.Prakash) was steadied while racing on the inside of STAR TRAINER (J.Chinoy) who had shifted in at that stage. Jockey J Chinoy has been cautioned.

 

After the race, DANCING GLANCES was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. Also, the right fore plate was observed to be loose and the same was removed at the paddock after the race. DEAR HENRY had a cut injury at the right fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.7(176) – THE PEGASUS TROPHY: (About) 1800 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, SOPHISTICATED (Zameer Sayyed) fly jumped.

 

After the race, MOUNTAIN FORCE was observed to have a bruise at the right hind pastern. PLAN B  and SOPHISTICATED were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(177) - THE BEYOND BELIEF PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Rehanullah Khan,  THIS ONES FOR YOU was examined at  0830 hours on 29/09/2012 (Race day)  and was found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

At the start, GOLD GLAMOUR (P.Trevor) jumped out awkwardly.

 

DAFFODILS (Shrikant Kamble, dr.10) shifted in before the Red Marker and in the process inconvenienced HOLIDAY DANCER (M.A.Roushan). Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been fined Rs. 2000/- .

 

Approaching 800 metres, KING JULIEN (A.Sandesh) was steadied due to lack of room and ridden in check for a few strides, while racing behind AUTUMN RUSH (Imran Chisty). 

 

Jockey M.A.Roushan (HOLIDAY DANCER) has been cautioned for shifting in near 500 metres, and inconveniencing GOLD GLAMOUR (P.Trevor).

 

SHABDEEZ (Akash Agarwal) drifted outwards while straightening for home and carried LAKE PARADISE (R.Rupesh) outwards.

 

After the race, AUTUMN RUSH was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 3rd, 6th & 7th race, viz. SIZZLING LOVE, DANCING GLANCES and WORD OF HONOUR and the special sample of ASAHI (2nd race) and JUSTICE (4th race),were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “QUEEN OF VENUS” IN RACE NO.124 -  THE GLASNOST PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON SATURDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER, 2012  - TRAINER C.D.KATRAK HAD LODGED A COMPLAINT AFTER THE RACE THAT HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RIDING OF JOCKEY AKSHAY ON “QUEEN OF VENUS”:

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 29th September, 2012 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. The Stewards, having interviewed Trainer C.D.Katrak and Jockey Akshay who was accompanied by his Spokesman, Mr.Vinesh and having viewed the video recording of the race in question as also the other two races of the filly during the current Pune Meeting i.e. Race No.56 and Race No.159, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Akshay and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on his mount QUEEN OF VENUS.  In that, he was instructed to sit in 3rd/4th position and to do his best in the straight. Even conceding that he met interference 100 metres after the start and lost position, however, thereafter between the 800 and 600 metres he made no apparent effort to improve his position and allowed the front runners to widen the gap and take a long lead and he was nearly 9 to 10 lengths behind the front runners at the top of the straight and subsequently the horse covered a lot of ground to finish fourth. Further, the Stewards noted that there was a drift in the odds on this horse and the Trainer also expressed his dissatisfaction with the Jockey’s riding.

 

Taking an overall view, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 14th October, 2012 to 28th October, 2012 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding. (permitted to ride work/mock race).
