RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT AT ABOUT 1150 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES EXTENDING UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT AT 1100 METRES AND 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi to saddle his charges CICITALIA and LOCARNO (1st race) and DUSK N DAWN (2nd race), at his (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (10) – THE ZAHRA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 15 Runners

 

On arrival at the start, it was observed that the Kinetic Nose Band of CARRALISA (N. S. Parmar) had come off. The same was fixed and the filly participated in the race.

 

ISINIT (S. G. Prasad) jumped out awkwardly and RED FORT (Kavraj Singh) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

STAR HIGHNESS (Towfeeq R. Shaikh) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

Approaching 1000 metres, CICITALIA (S. Sunil) shifted in thereby inconveniencing LORD ARAZAN (Yash Narredu).

 

Approaching 600 metres, SEACRETS (App. Parbat Singh) brushed the rails and was unbalanced.

 

Passing 600 metres, CARRALISA (N. S. Parmar) hung out and cut across LORD ARAZAN (Yash Narredu) and thereafter raced on the extreme outside. On questioning, Jockey N. S. Parmar stated that his mount hung out despite his efforts. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Approaching 500 metres, LORD ARAZAN (Yash Narredu) shifted in, due to which AEOLUS MAXIMUS (Bhawani Singh) shied in thereby inconveniencing STAR HIGHNESS (Towfeeq R. Shaikh).

 

Approaching 350 metres, Jockey Suraj Narredu (CRACKLIN’ ROSIE), in an effort to take a gap along the inside, shifted in thereby tightening SEACRETS (App. Parbat Singh) along the rails. Jockey Suraj Narredu has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 200 metres, LORD ARAZAN (Yash Narredu) shifted in and went across CICITALIA (S. Sunil) who had to be steadied Jockey Yash Narredu has been cautioned.

 

Jockey N. S. Parmar (CARRALISA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. As the whip was used as a corrective measure, no action has been initiated.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the riding of Jockey Suraj Narredu on CRACKLIN’ ROSIE and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, SEACRETS, CICITALIA, LORD ARAZAN and CARRALISA were trotted and found to be sound. CICITALIA had a bruise at the left hind fetlock and CARRALISA had an abrasion at the left fore fetlock.

 

RACE NO.2 (11) – THE BUD ROYALE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 13 Runners

 

SHIVALIK SKIES (D. A. Naik) was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

 

GOOD MEMORY (S. Mosin) was fractious in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. MASTERSTRIKE (N. B. Kuldeep) played up in the stall after which it was observed that the rein buckle was broken and the same was replaced by the Club’s gear. Also, MASTERSTRIKE jumped out slow, losing about 3 lengths at the start.  CRITICAL STRIKE (S. Joseph) jumped out slowly, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainers S. S. Shah, Narendra Lagad and Sangramsinh N. Joshi have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 800 metres, MY FREEDOM (C. Umesh) shifted in thereby tightening GOLDEN GLORY (Neeraj Rawal) and MOONDROPS (App. H. Zeeshan). Jockey C. Umesh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, MASTERSTRIKE was observed to have an abrasion at the left fore fetlock and a gum injury. MOONDROPS had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.3(12)  – THE ASCOT LASS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 15 Runners

 

At the start ALLEGIANCE (Bhawani Singh, dr.3) shifted out starting a chain reaction due to which SIR SONG (Kavraj Singh, dr.4), PRACS (App. S. A. Amit, dr.5), NIGHT FURY (P. S. Chouhan, dr. 7) and GOLDSMITH (N. S. Parmar, dr. 8) were inconvenienced.

 

At the start, ARGONAUTICA (A. Sandesh, dr.11) jumped outwards on to MOVE IN TIME (App. D. R. Shubham, dr.12).

 

Passing 600 metres, SANSA (Yash Narredu) shifted out on to JIBUTI (J. Chinoy), who in turn shifted out on to SIR SONG (Kavraj Sing) who had to be steadied. Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.2,000/-

 

Jockey Zameer Sayyed (UNICO CORAZON) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed  limit on his mount.

 

After the race Jockey A. Sandesh (ARGONAUTICA) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that after the race, NIGHT FURY was trotted and found to be sound.  At the request of the trainer the filly was scoped immediately after the race at the Club’s Equine Hospital and was found to have Guttural Pouch infection and severe respiratory infection and was treated for the same. Trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, JIBUTI was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock and TOP WIZARD had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.4 (13) – THE FAIR HAVEN TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

REMEMBER ME (J. Chinoy) jumped out slow, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its previous start, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in two Mock Races, before next accepting with him to race.

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey P. S. Chouhan, rider of PERSIAN PRINCE (Placed Second) against HOLY SMOKE (Suraj Narredu, Placed First). The reason being, after the final turn, HOLY SMOKE shifted in and bumped his mount due to which the gelding lost its rhythm. Thereafter, again in the last 100 metres, HOLY SMOKE shifted in and took his ground whereby he lost a certain race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

 

Turning for home, HOLY SMOKE (Suraj Narredu) shifted in and made contact with PERSIAN PRINCE (P. S. Chouhan).

 

After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (HOLY SMOKE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Tr. Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that AGELESS was examined in trot at the stables in the morning on 29/07/2016 and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(14)  – THE CACOPHONY PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, VIA AMORIS (C. S. Jodha, dr.3) jumped outwards and made contact with NASCAR (App. Raghuveer Singh, dr.4).

 

Soon after the start, GOLDEN BELLE (App. Vishal) shifted in thereby inconveniencing the field on his inside. App. Vishal has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 600 metres, Jockey Kishore Kadam (TAP DANCE), in an effort to settle his mount, dropped back thereby inconveniencing NASCAR (App. Raghuveer Singh). Jockey Kishore Kadam has been asked to be more careful in the future.

 

Trainer M. Narredu and Jockey Yash Narredu were questioned regarding the performance of ARABELLE in this race. The Trainer stated that his instructions were to go to the front or else to settle wherever the filly is comfortable and to do his best. Jockey Yash Narredu confirmed the instructions. To another question, he stated that in his opinion, coming into the straight the filly had nothing much to offer. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, MERCHANTOFVENICE, ARABELLE and TAP DANCE were trotted and found to be sound. CAPTAIN COURAGE had a cut injury at the right nostril and TAP DANCE had an abrasion at the left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.6(15)  – THE AMOROUS KNIGHT TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 12 Runners

 

After the Declaration stage, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait informed that he had erroneously declared Jockey N. Rawal on his charge ETERNALINSPIRATION and requested that he be permitted to replace the declared Jockey with Neeraj Rawal. The said change was permitted and Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After being stalled, DEMOCRAT (N. S. Parmar) and RIOT OF COLOURS (Dashrath Singh) played up and got cast underneath their stall. As such, both the horses were withdrawn from the race before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainers M. K. Jadhav and Narendra Lagad have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At about 100 metres after the start,  ART DECO (J. Chinoy dr.14) shifted in and cut across the field thereby tightening SHOGUN (Towfeeq R. Shaikh, dr.12), who in turn went on to  POLLYANA (R. Shelar, dr.11) who had to be checked and dropped back. After questioning Jockey J. Chinoy and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching 600 metres, FURIOSA (M. A. Roushan) shifted out thereby inconveniencing EL TYCOON (Shrikant Kamble) and SHOGUN (Towfeeq R. Shaikh). Jockey M. A. Roushan has been cautioned.

 

Passing 500 metres, EL TYCOON (Shrikant Kamble) who was racing between BENEFICIAL (N. B. Kuldeep) and SHOGUN (Towfeeq R. Shaikh) was tightened for room and dropped back.

 

In the final stages of the race, ETERNALINSPIRATION (Neeraj Rawal) shied inwards thereby inconveniencing SHOGUN (Towfeeq R. Shaikh), who in turn went on to FURIOSA (M. A. Roushan).

 

During the race, Jockey J. Chinoy (ART DECO) was observed to have looked back thrice. After questioning, Jockey J. Chinoy has been cautioned about the same.

 

After the race, ETERNALINSPIRATION and FURIOSA were trotted and found to be sound. SHOGUN had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.7(16) – THE CARBON STAR PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 20 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Mansoor Shah, SQUASH was examined at 1945 hours on 27/07/2016 and was found to show symptoms of colic and was treated. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, LUCKY PINEAPPLE (Towfeeq R. Shaikh, dr.7) shifted out cutting across FAST LADY (J. E. Pereira, dr.9) and went on to JIMBO (App. Jaykumar. dr.10). Jockey Towfeeq R. Shaikh has been cautioned.

 

Soon after the start, CLOUDS OF GLORY (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.14) shifted in and cut across the field thereby causing interference to WIND CRAFT (App. H. Zeeshan, dr.12) whereby App. H. Zeeshan had to check his mount and change course causing HUNT FOR HEADS (App. K. Nazil, dr.8) to clip its heels and drop back on to CELTIC PRINCE (Dashrath Singh, dr.4) who was unbalanced. After questioning Jockey Akshay Gaikwad and not being satisfied with his explanation, his Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 15th August, 2016 to 20th August, 2016 (both days inclusive) for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).  

 

Passing 150 metres, CLOUDS OF GLORY (Akshay Gaikwad) weakened and dropped back onto HUNT FOR HEADS (App. K. Nazil) who was steadied.

 

After the race, SHANIA and IN THE LIMELIGHT were trotted and found to be sound.  ANCIENT GLORY had an abrasion at the left hind coronet, JIMBO had an abrasion at the right fore coronet, IN THE LIMELIGHT had a cut injury at the left hock and right hind cannon, WIND CRAFT had a cut injury at the left fore fetlock and CELTIC PRINCE & CANNONBALL RUN had a cut injury at the right hind cannon.

 

RACE NO.8 (17) – THE  AMOROUS KNIGHT TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 14 Runners

 

Approaching 600 metres, GLORIOUS ANGEL (A. Sandesh) shifted out and made contact with FASHIONABLE GAIT (J. Chinoy) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 600 metres, WILD JACK (C. S. Jodha) was observed to have hung out and thereafter drifted out on the extreme outside and on approaching 400 metres had to be steadied. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Passing 300 metres, FIREBOLT (Neeraj Rawal) was observed to have maintained an erratic course thereby inconveniencing DUBROVNIK (Yash Narredu).

 

After the race, Jockey C. Umesh (RAASCALLA) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. The Sr. V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that RAASCALLA was examined in trot on 30/07/2016 and found to be sound but having wolf tooth on the left side. Tr. Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, JUNOON was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WILD JACK, APPLE BETTY and JUNOON were trotted and found to be sound. FASHIONABLE GAIT had a cut injury at the right hind cannon.

 

RACE NO.9(18)  – THE ZAHRA PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 15 Runners

 

PABLITO (Akshay) and MILLENIUM FALCON (C. Umesh) were restless in the stall and not allowing the riders to settle. Trainers Vishal Gaikwad and Narendra Lagad have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, MILLENIUM FALCON (C. Umesh, dr. 5) and IN MY LIFE (App. H. Zeeshan, dr. 6) shifted out and in respectively and made contact.

 

At the start, AAMERICAN AGATTA (P. S. Chouhan, dr.11) jumped outwards on to CAPTAIN ABDON (App. S. A. Amit, dr.12).

 

Soon after the start, RED BUG (R. Shelar) shifted in onto PABLITO (Akshay) who in turn shifted in and went across ANOTHER ACE (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied.  

Soon after the start, SINBAAD (J. Chinoy) shifted out and made contact with AAMERICAN AGATTA (P. S. Chouhan), who in turn went on to CAPTAIN ABDON (App. S. A. Amit). Jockey J. Chinoy has been cautioned.

 

Passing 200 metres, ORLA (Yash Narredu) was held up for room along the rails and had to stop ridding.

 

The post race urine sample of the winners of all races viz. LORD ARAZAN (1st race), ROYAL SAPPHIRE (2nd race), SECRET FLAME (3rd race), HOLY SMOKE (4th race), CAPTAIN COURAGE (5th race), ART DECO (6th race), TURF DANCER (7th race), GLORIOUS ANGEL (8th race) and ROSELLA (9th race) and the special sample of NIGHT FURY (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
