ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ISHPINGO” IN RACE NO.356 – THE STONE RIDGE PLATE (1200 METRES) RUN ON 21ST APRIL, 2012 :

The Stewards at their meeting held on Sunday, 29th April, 2012 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Trainer Faisal A.Abbas and Jockey Dashrath Singh and having heard the submissions made and having viewed the video recording of Race No.356 as also the previous races of the horse, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on ISHPINGO in Race No.356. The Stewards noted that having ridden this horse in all its previous runs, Jockey Dashrath Singh was aware that he likes to be settled well up and responds well from the outside. In the race in question,  although the horse was slightly out, however, thereafter he did not make sufficient efforts to sit well up and remained in second last position. Further, on entering the straight he was travelling 4 to 5 horses wide and there was only one horse racing on his outside viz. LIMITLESS HILLS and he had the opportunity to make his move from the outside of LIMITLESS HILLS so as to give the horse a clear run as he did in all its previous races. However, for no apparent reason he chose to make his move from the inside despite being aware that there was a wall of horses on the inside and when he did not get a clear run, he switched his mount to the outside at the 200 metres when it was too late and the horse responded immediately and covered lot of ground to finish fourth. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas expressed his dissatisfaction with the riding of Jockey Dashrath Singh on ISHPINGO. The Stewards also noted that there was a drift in the odds on ISHPINGO.

Therefore, the Stewards decided  that if Jockey Dashrath Singh applies for a license for the Season 2012/13, it will be granted to him but his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 5th August, 2012 to 12th August, 2012 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). He was informed that the Stewards had taken very lenient action this time and he was severely warned to be more careful in the future.
