RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS  WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE  CHUTE)  TO 1200 METRES AND THEREAFTER 7 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Suresh Chavan to saddle his charge MIGHTY SPLENDOR in the 7th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (302) – THE GOLD DUST PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 8

 

At the request of Trainer Altaf Hussain, ARABIAN FIGHTER was examined at 1855 hours on 28/03/2012 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg,  as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

FULL THROTTLE (D.K.Ashish) jumped out slowly, losing about 3 lengths at the start.

 

Near the 1000 metres, LAST TANGO (A.Sandesh) and COUGAR (Akshay) brushed.

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (MONEY FOR NOTHIN) reported that his mount lugged out while negotiating the bend thereby placing the Rider at a disadvantage. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

Jockey Dashrath Singh (KALINGA STAR) reported that approaching 200 metres he lost his right rein which he regained shortly thereafter.

Jockey Akshay (COUGAR) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, FULL THROTTLE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the mare had an abrasion at the saddle area on both sides. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LAST TANGO and MONEY FOR NOTHIN were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (303)  – THE  WISDOM PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9

 

SWEATY BETTY  (J.E.Pereira) reared up as the start was effected thereby losing a distance at the start. CONSTELLATION (App.Tushar Nemane) hesitated to jump out, thus losing about 6 lengths at the start. Trainers Narendra Lagad and M.K.Jadhav have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi was questioned regarding the comparative performance of ALEUTIAN ZONE in this race which the mare won as compared to the previous start in Race no 248 where she was unplaced. The Trainer stated that the mare used to cut herself on the inside of her hock and therefore he had raced her unshod this time. He had tried this as a last measure before retiring the mare. Also, Jockey A.Sandesh had suggested to try out Blinkers as the mare gives up when horses are around her and therefore he had used Blinkers this time. To another question, the Trainer stated he had given the mare a small chance.  The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, ALEUTIAN ZONE was observed to have an abrasion at the left hock. MOUNTAIN LION was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3 (304) – THE QUEST FOR CASH PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres - Runners – 7

 

After the race, SECRET SERVICE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FLYING KISS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (305)  – THE WISDOM PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

 

At the start, LAURUS TIKATI (T.S.Jodha, dr.7) shifted in and went on to DOMAIN ANNA (V.Chandrakant, dr.6), who in turn shifted in and made contact with PRINCE (Akshay, dr.5).

 

Shortly after the start HILLS AND DALES (V.Phadke) and NEPTUNE (Vikram Jodha) bumped.

 

Near the 50 metres, ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE (D.K.Ashish) became unbalanced when using his whip.

Near the 50 metres, Jockey Shammi Khan (TOWERING HIGH) momentarily stopped riding as he anticipated NEPTUNE (Vikram Jodha) to shift in further.    

 

After the race, SLEUTH, PRINCE, HILLS AND DALES and ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (306) – THE K.J.K.IRANI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

 

At the start, ENCORE (A.Sandesh, dr.7) was tightened between HEAVENLY PRIZE (Vikram Jodha, dr.8) which jumped inwards and BATHSHEBA (J.Pradeep, dr.6) which jumped outwards, BATSHEBA became unbalanced, losing ground.

 

Approaching 800 metres, GOTTAWEARSHADES (Hanuant Singh) shifted in causing HEAVENLY PRIZE (Vikram Jodha) to be eased which in turn forced STAR MOUNTAIN (Akash Agarwal) to ease, losing ground.

 

STUNNING THUNDER  (J.E.Pereira) raced wide rounding the home turn.

 

When making ground near 100 metres and until the winning post , THAT’S MY MASTER (T.S.Jodha) was ridden in check when tightened for room, while attempting to secure a run on the inside of GOTTAWEARSHADES (Hanumant Singh).

 

After the race, ADAMS VISION was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, THEOLOGY was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.6 (307)  – THE PIERCE ARROW PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 5

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (ASTAPI) reported loss of whip near 100 metres. This being the Second occasion of loss of whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.1000/-.

 

After the race, SOLOR was observed to have a cut injury at the right fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.7 (308) – THE FABULOUS STAR PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres–Runners –  10

 

SCONE (A.M.Tograllu) was slow to muster early speed.

 

At the Start, MYLASTWISH (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to SNOW FLAKE (Deep Shanker, dr.3), who in turn jostled with KISMAT (Dashrath Singh, dr.4).

 

Passing 1000 metres, FAJR (S.Sunil) shifted in and inconvenienced KISMAT (Dashrath Singh). Jockey S.Sunil has been cautioned.

An objection was lodged by Jockey Imran Chisty, rider of SNOW MOUNTAIN (placed Third), against KISMAT (Dashrath Singh, placed Second). The reason being, in the last 100 metres, KISMAT (Dashrath Singh)  shifted in when struck with the whip and kept coming in, bumping SNOW MOUNTAIN whereby Jockey Imran Chisty had to stop riding.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the order of placing of the race as under :-

ASCOT MAGIC                   -               FIRST;                                   KISMAT                                 -               THIRD;

SNOW MOUNTAIN            -               SECOND;                             MIGHTY SPLENDOR        -               FOURTH

 

KISMAT (Dashrath Singh) and MYLASTWISH (A.Ashhad Asbar) raced greenly in the straight.

 

RACE NO.8 (309) – THE DANCING DYNAMITE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the start, SAN RAFAEL (S Sunil, dr.6)  jumped outwards and MOUNTAIN REGIMENT (Akshay, dr.7) jumped inwards. Shortly after ROYAL HONOUR (C.S.Jodha, dr.5) shifted out, resulting in jostling between these runners. Shortly thereafter, STAR PRINCE (Kavraj Singh, dr.8) lugged inwards and made contact with MOUNTAIN REGIMENT, who again went in on to SAN RAFAEL (S.Sunil).

After the race, MOUNTAIN TREASURE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 (310) – THE K.J.K.IRANI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

 

PABLO NERUDA (Shrikant Kamble, dr.8) swelt when the gates were released, losing ground.

 

Having his first start, LAKE VIEW (Akash Agarwal, dr.12) began awkwardly, losing ground.

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (MOUNTAIN PRINCE) reported that his mount lugged-in in the early part of the straight. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Near the 1000 metres, PABLO NERUDA (Shrikant Kamble) was steadied from the heels of GOLDEN SPURS (T.Atul).

 

An enquiry will be opened into the running and riding of OCEAN STAR (S.Shinde). A report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, DIANI was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that MARUDHARA RATAN stopped galloping after the race near 2000 metres. On examination, the gelding was found to be sore from the left fore leg. After first aid, the gelding was sent to the Equine Hospital for further management. Subsequently, it was found that the gelding had suffered fracture of sessamoids of left fore fetlock.  After consent of the trainer, the gelding was euthanized on humane grounds.

 

After the race, PABLO NERUDA, OCEAN STAR and MOUNTAIN PRINCE were found to be sound. BE COOL had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock.

The post race urine sample of the winner of  1st, 2nd and 6th race, viz.  ADAMS PRINCE, ALEUTIAN ZONE and ASTAPI and the special sample of SECRET SERVICE (3rd race) and ADAMS VISION (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

RE : ANALYSIS OF FEED SUPPLEMENTS VIZ. EQUITOP PRONUTRIN AND EQUITOP MYOPLAST BY THE GOVERNMENT ANAYLST AT DRUG CONTROL LABORATORY, MAHARASHTRA STATE :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 29th March, 2012 informed Trainer S.K.Sunderji that the Club had received a report from the Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State, Bandra (East), Mumbai of the feed supplements Equitop Myoplast and Equitop Pronutrin which were seized from the Club, contained 1.98 micro grams per kg of Boldenone and 0.77 micro grams per kg of Boldenone respectively.

 

Trainer S.K.Sunderji was informed that despite these findings, the Stewards affirm the correctness of their action in the matter of suspension of his Trainer’s licence which was arrived at after due, full and fair inquiry, at which he was given a full hearing and in strict accordance with the Rules of the Club.

 

However, having regard to the said findings of the Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State, as a measure of goodwill, the Stewards have decided conditionally and for the present not to enter the above suspension in his records. Consequently, the fine of Rs.10,000/-  paid by him would be refunded to him.

 

Trainer S.K.Sunderji was further informed that if any time hereafter, by reason of any events, including, but not limited to any action by Boehringer Ingelheim, the aforesaid findings of Government Analyst, Drug Control Laboratory, Maharashtra State are wholly or partially set aside, the above suspension will be re-entered in his records and he will be asked to refund the amount of Rs.10,000/- imposed on him by way of a fine.
