RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE), LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METERS AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charge ORCHIDS in the 2nd race, CHEZZA in the 4th race and ANOUSHKA in the 9th race, at his own (Trainer Faisal A. Abbas’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1(63) – THE R. R. KOMANDUR PLATE - DIVISION I: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11
Soon after the start, FIDATO (C. S. Jodha, dr.7) shifted in at the same time DOC MARTIN (S. Zervan) shifted out due to which MONARCHY (P. S. Chouhan) and REMY RED (App. P. S. Kaviraj) drawn between them were tightened for room.
Passing the 900 metres, due to a tightly packed field DOC MARTIN (S. Zervan) had to be steadied.
Passing the 700 metres, NORD (S. A. Amit) dropped back thereby starting a chain reaction due to which MONARCHY (P. S. Chouhan), REMY RED (App. P. S. Kaviraj) and MIDAS TOUCH (Bhawani Singh) were inconvenienced
Passing the 600 metres, REMY RED (App. P. S. Kaviraj) was observed to have maintained an erratic course due to which COMMANDMENT (T. S. Jodha) racing on his haunches had to be checked. App. P. S. Kaviraj has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, Jockey S. Zervan reported that his mount DOC MARTIN hung out throughout the race. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, FIDATO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, DOC MARTIN was trotted and found to be sound, LEX LUTHOR had lost his left fore shoe and had a cut injury on left hind harnstring and REMY RED had a cut injury on left fore cannon.
RACE NO.2(64) – THE A. GEDDIS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 8
On arrival at the start, at the request of App. P. S. Kaviraj the reins on his mount ARABIAN PHOENIX were replaced with the Club’s gear as the one which he was using slipping from his hand.
After being stalled, ORCHIDS (A. Sandesh, dr.6) started lashing out. As such the gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, TASMAN (A. Imran Khan, dr.3) jumped outwards onto CAPRIFLA (Neeraj Rawal, dr.4).
At the start, RASPUTIN (P. S. Chouhan, dr.8) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
Passing the 600 metres, EMPOWER (T. S. Jodha) shifted out and carried TASMAN (A. Imran Khan) outwards. Jockey T. S. Jodha has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh reported that his mount ORCHIDS hung-in throughout the race. Trainer Faisal Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, EMPOWER (T. S. Jodha) was observed to have a gum injury.
After the race, TASMAN and ORCHIDS were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(65) – THE LT. COL. GOVIND SINGH (VRC) TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 5
At the start, DESERT FIRE (T. S. Jodha, dr.3) jumped inwards onto NOTHING TO WORRY (S. Zervan, dr.2) who in turn shifted in and made contact with RED MERLOT (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr.1). Jockey T. S. Jodha has been cautioned.
Passing 600 metres, COLUMBIAN (P. S. Chouhan) and NOTHING TO WORRY (S. Zervan) were observed to have jostled.
After the race, COLUMBIAN was trotted and found to be sound and NOTHING TO ORRY was observed to have lost his right fore shoe.
RACE NO.4(66) – THE ISN'T SHE SPECIAL PLATE - DIVISION I: (About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 14
Soon after the start, SHE IS ON FIRE (S. Zervan) leaned inwards onto WHISPERING QUEEN (App. A. Prakash) who in turn shifted in tightening COUNT THE WINS (K. Nazil) causing the latter to check and drop back. Jockey S. Zervan has been cautioned.
Passing the 300 metres, BAKU (Antony Raj S.) shifted out and brushed the haunches of SEMINOLE (A. Imran Khan). After the race, on questioning Jockey Antony Raj S. stated that there was a gap opened momentarily and he had committed to make a move, he has been cautioned for the same.
Passing the 200 metres, POWER OF NEATH (Akshay Gaikwad) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing MASCARA (N. S. Parmar). Jockey Akshay Gaikwad has been cautioned.
After the race, MASCARA was observed to have a cut injury on right fore pastern.
RACE NO.5(67) – THE HYDERABAD RACE CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 5
Passing the 400 metres, GAZINO (S. Zervan) leaned inwards onto SILVER FLAMES (T. S. Jodha) along the rails. Jockey S Zervan has been cautioned
Passing 250 metres, App. P. S. Kaviraj (JOAQUIN) was observed have shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing IRON AGE (App. Kirtish Bhagat) causing the latter to check. After the race on being questioned, App. P.S. Kaviraj failed to maintain the decorum and misbehaved. In view of the interference he has been fined Rs.3,000/- in addition his licence has been suspended for 2 (two) race days i.e. from 20th to 27th February 2022 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for his behavior.
RACE NO.6(68) – THE R. R. KOMANDUR PLATE - DIVISION II: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 10
CAMILLE (K. Nazil, dr.10) jumped out slowly losing about 3 lengths at the start.
At the start, MAJORELLA BLUE (S. Zervan, dr.5) jumped inwards onto LOVE WARRIOR (A. Sandesh, dr.4).
After the race, LOVE WARRIOR was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, ZACAPA was observed to have lost its right fore shoe.
RACE NO.7(69) – THE MACCHUPICCHU PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 6
Soon after the start, JERUSALEM (Yash Narredu) leaned inwards and made contact with STUNNING VISUAL (S. Zervan).
At the request of Trainer P. Shroff, SWIFT was examined in the stable area at 12.15 p.m. on 28/01/2022 and was found to be sore by the right hind leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.8(70) – THE MAGIC TOUCH PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 13
TRUE NORTH (Raghuveer Singh) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer Imtiaz Sait has been asked to ensure that in future his charge reaches the starting gate on time and has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
MARIELLA (N. Nadeem, dr.8) jumped out throwing its head at the start.
Soon after the start, CHAMPERS ON ICE (App. P. Vinod) was observed to have inclined outwards due to which App. P. Vinod was observed to have lost his balance and had to be steadied. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
UNTITLED (App. P. S. Kaviraj) veered out in the final stages of the race and carried BIRKIN BLOWER (App. A. K. Aniket) outwards. Trainer H J Antia has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, CHAMPERS ON ICE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.9(71) – THE ISN'T SHE SPECIAL PLATE - DIVISION II: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 14
At the start, TOUCH COP (M. Ayyar, dr.6) jumped outwards and made contact with THE FLUTIST (T. S. Jodha, dr.7).
Soon after the start, SUSSING (Hanumant Singh) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening the field on his inside due to which GREY FALCON (N. Nadeem), SONISHA (Akshay Gaikwad), SPECIAL SITUATION (App. A. Prakash) and THE FLUTIST (T. S. Jodha) were inconvenienced and had to be checked thereafter SUSSING (Hanumant Singh) further shifted in and went across POLARIS (Bhawani Singh) and TOUCH OF FAITH (N. S. Parmar) causing them to be checked. Once again passing 900 metres SUSSING shifted in and went across CANDESCENT STAR (H. Zeeshan) causing the latter to check and drop back onto TOUCH OF FAITH (N. S. Parmar) forcing the latter to check and change course thereby inconveniencing POLARIS (Bhawani Singh). After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Hanumant Singh, he has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 20th February 2022 (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding.
Passing the 400 metres, due to a tightly packed field TOUCH OF FAITH (N. S. Parmar) was held up for room.
Passing 250 metres, CANDESCENT STAR (H. Zeeshan) was observed to have shifted out and went across ANOUSHKA (A. Sandesh).
After the race, SONISHA and PRINCIPESSA were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th race, 7th race, viz. SHE IS ON FIRE and AHEAD OF MY TIME, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:
RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SEMINOLE” (DRAWN 7) IN RACE NO. 3 – THE MASTER SHIFU PLATE (DIST. 1200 MTRS.) RUN ON 16TH DECEMBER 2021 :
Trainer Bezan Chenoy stated that as Jockey T. S. Jodha had ridden the horse, he had instructed him to ride his own race.
Race in question was viewed and when asked for his observation especially the riding efforts in the straight, Trainer Bezan Chenoy agreed that he could have been more vigorous and concurred with the Stipendiary Stewards view.
Having heard the submissions made by Trainer and Jockey, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey T. S. Jodha and have fined him Rs.10,000/- for failing to persevere with his mount in the final stages of the race.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER P. SHROFF IN RESPECT OF THE FINE OF RS.10,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS FOR TACIT APPROVAL - ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “BOTERO” IN RACE NO.54 – THE GLASNOST PLATE - RUN ON 21st NOVEMBER 2021.
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 29th January 2022, considered appeal dated 15th January 2022, from Tr. P. Shroff in the above connection.
The Stewards considered all papers, documents and proceedings and having heard Trainer P. Shroff, having viewed the video recording of the race and having deliberated the matter at length, decided to allow the appeal and rescind the fine of Rs.10,000/- imposed on Trainer P. Shroff by the Stipendiary Stewards for tacit approval.
