RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charges WAVES OF MAGIC and MAHIKI in the 3^rd and 7^th race respectively, at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge ARTA in the 3^rd race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(24) – THE PROLETARIAN PLATE : (About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 5

The saddle on HEAVENS KEY (Shrikant Kamble) was observed to have slipped forward during the race. As such Trainer Hosidar Daji has been fined Rs 2,000/.

Jockey C.S.Jodha (ICE BEAUTY) reported the loss of whip near 300 metres.

Jockey Zameer Sayyed (OSRIC) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift-in in the final 100 metres whereby TARA (Kavraj Singh) was inconvenienced.

After the race, TARA was found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(25) – THE MYSTICAL TROPHY : (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 4

After the race, MASTER SHIFU was observed to have lost its left fore plate. INVICTUS was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(26) – THE VENUS ARISING PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 8

After being stalled, ARTA (S.Zervan) lashed out and was standing in an awkward position. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified her fit to race.

PAPPILLON (J.Chinoy) was slow in the stride, losing about a length at the start.

Jockey Kavraj Singh (GIANT LUCK) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, WAVES OF MAGIC, ARTA, GIANT LUCK and FABULOUS FLORENCE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(27) – THE SHANTIDAS ASKURAN TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 6

Trainer Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting with his charge WINGS OF GLORY while the gelding was on a Veterinary Ban. The gelding was struck out at the Acceptance stage.

SEA TREASURE (Prabhu Naidu) took an awkward fly jump and lost about a length at the start.

Soon after the start, RIO (App.S.Mosin) shifted in and hampered the running of VICTORIOUS MARCH (App.B.Nikhil). App.S.Mosin has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

SEA TREASURE (Prabhu Naidu) lugged out in the straight and travelled wide. Since the gelding was reported to be sore, no action has been initiated in the matter.

Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.1,000/- for running his charge SEA TREASURE in bandages without prior permission.

After the race, SEA TREASURE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.5(28) – THE M.H.AHMEDBHOY TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 6

HAY DAY (C.S.Jodha) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

An objection was lodged by Jockey A.Sandesh, rider of NEGOTIATOR (Placed Third) against AMISTAD (S.Zervan, Placed Second). The reason being, AMISTAD had tightened him before the bend and near 500 metres came on to him and knocked him out thereby breaking his horse’s stride totally and then again came on to him before the winning post, which cost him the second place.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to overrule the objection and forfeit the deposit.

After the race, MOUNTAIN FORCE, AMISTAD and HAY DAY were found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(29) – THE ASTANA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 15

Jockey C.S.Jodha (MZURI, dr.15) shifted in sharply after the start and went across the entire field on his inside and in the process carried BY THE WAY (Altaf Sayyed) inwards. Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs 3,000/-.

Trainer Karthik G and Jockey Zameer Sayyed were questioned regarding the running and riding of SPLENDID LIGHT. The Trainer stated that the Instructions were to be in mid-bunch, improve gradually and to ride out in the straight. The Jockey stated that he was asked to be in 5^th or 6^th or 7^th position and to do his best. He added that he had done his best. The race was viewed and on questioning, the Trainer stated that the Jockey was not vigorous in the straight. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards interviewed the Trainer Karthik G and Jockey Zameer Sayyed and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Zameer Sayyed. The Stewards noted that he did not make sufficient effort to sit in mid bunch as instructed and coming into the straight he did not give the horse a clear run and made his move very late when the race was nearly over and he was not vigorous in his riding effort. However, considering his plea that he had injured his foot in the starting gate, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for the charge of “not allowing his mount to run on its merits” and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 15^th December, 2013 to 26^th December, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work). Further, he was warned to be more careful in the future.

Trainer M.K.Jadhav and Jockey Vikram Walkar were questioned regarding the running and riding of MOHEGUN SUN and not being satisfied with the riding effort of Jockey Vikram Walkar, the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards interviewed Tr.M.K.Jadhav and Jockey Vikram Walkar and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Vikram Walkar. The Stewards noted that he was not vigorous in his riding effort in the straight. However, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for the charge of “unsatisfactory riding” and held him guilty of incompetent riding. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 15^th December, 2013 to 19^th December, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work).

Jockeys R.Shelar (HIGHWAY EXPRESS) and Altaf Sayyed (BY THE WAY) reported the loss of their whip near 600 metres.

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Vinesh, STRIKE AGAIN was scoped after the race at the Equine Hospital and reported to be having EIPH (Grade III). The filly is not to race for the stipulated period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, HIGHWAY EXPRESS, RUN LIKE THE WIND, MOHEGUN SUN, ZARAR, MIDNIGHT LADY and SPLENDID LIGHT were found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(30) – THE RHAPSIDION SNOW PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres–Runners – 11

CELSIUS (App.S.Mosin) was reluctant to be stalled. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner in its previous run, Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before next accepting with her to race.

Near 700 metres, SONG OF SPARROW (Prabhu Naidu) shifted in and caused interference to EDWINA (App.B.Nikhil). Jockey Prabhu Naidu has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

Jockey S.Sunil (STEP UP) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. He has been fined a further sum of Rs.2,000/- for using the whip in an Improper manner, wherein he had used the whip on the shoulder of his mount.

After the race, WINDMILL LADY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ALBUURZ was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind fetlock. MOUNTAIN MYNAH and CAPITANO were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of the 2^nd, 5^th and 6^th race viz. SILVER ARROW, GHAZAL KING and MZURI, and the special sample of WINDMILL LADY (7^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

The Sr.V.O. reported that SUPREME STAR was observed to have broken a blood vessel after morning track work on 28/11/2013. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and until passed fit by the Club’s V.O.
