Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures in respect of his charge BLACK PHANTOM before next accepting to race.

Jockey J.Pradeep (FLYING JEWEL) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in under the use of the whip, in the final 200 metres.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey A.M.Tograllu, the rider of BLACK PHANTOM (placed 4th by the Judge) against Jockey A.Imran Khan, the rider of FROST FAIRY (placed 2nd). The reason being, in the last 100 metres FROST FAIRY shifted in and at about 50 metres from the winning post knocked him off, whereby he lost a certain third place. After questioning Trainer C.D.Katrak and Jockey R Shelar and having viewed the video recording of the race and not being satisfied with the explanation of Jockey R.Shelar, he has been cautioned for not making sufficient effort in the early part of the race and also in the straight.

After the race, TWITTILLATOR & STAR EMPIRE were found to be sound.

RACE NO 7 (101) – THE  STAR MILLIONAIRE PLATE (DIV.I):  (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 8

MOON FARER (C.Rajendra) and STARRER (Y.S.Srinath) hung-in in the straight and the respective Jockeys were observed to have used their whip in excess of the prescribed limit as a corrective measure. Trainers C.D.Katrak and Imtiaz A.Sait have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charges.

After the race, BLAU HIMMEL was observed to have a cut injury on the right hind coronet and left hind bulb of heel. SHODAAN, MOON FARER & STARRER were found to be sound.

RACE NO 8 (102) - THE  RAJARAM CHHATRAPATI TROPHY:   (About)  1800 Metres. Runners – 6

  - NO REPORT

RACE NO 9 (103) – THE  DANCING LORD PLATE (DIV.II):   (About)  1200 Metres. Runners – 8

Near 900 metres, SERENITY (B.Prakash), who was following SUPERIOR QUEST (A.Imran Khan), raced keenly and due to lack of room shifted out and made contact with HIGHLAND GLORY (J.E.Pereira) who was tightened on to BLUE THUNDER (N.S.Parmar) and ricocheted back on to SERENITY. Due to this, HIGHLAND GLORY lost its position as the gelding was steadied. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

Jockey A.Imran Khan (SUPERIOR QUEST) has been cautioned for standing up in his stirrups as a Victory mark before passing the Post.

After the race, the right fore plate of SERENITY was observed to have been splayed. BLUE THUNDER was found to be sound.

RACE NO 10 (104) – THE  DANCING LORD PLATE (DIV.I):   (About)  1200 Metres. Runners - 9

An Objection was lodged by Jockey N.S.Parmar, the rider of BRIGHT FUTURE (placed 3rd by the Judge), against Jockey Y.S.Srinath, the rider of BULLET (placed 2nd). The reason being, in the last 100 to 50 metres, his filly was moving well at which time BULLET, who was racing on his outside, interfered with his horse, which cost him the second place. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Racing Advisor & Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over rule the Objection.

Jockey Y.S.Srinath lodged a verbal complaint against Jockey N.S.Parmar, the rider of BRIGHT FUTURE, for interfering with his mount BULLET throughout the race. The Stewards interviewed Jockeys Y.S.Srinath and N.S.Parmar and viewing the video recording of the race, found the complaint of Jockey Y.S.Srinath to be false and misleading. It was observed that BULLET was hampered for a run once near 1000 metres which was due to HUNTER BAY (D.A.Naik) shifting out and the interference could not be attributed to BRIGHT FUTURE (NS Parmar). However, in view of the explanation given by Jockey Y.S.Srinath that he had no time to review the race before lodging the complaint, the Stewards decided that not to initiate any action against him in the subject matter.

Further, the Stewards took grave exception to Jockey Y.S.Srinath’s misbehavior in the Stewards Room. However, keeping in mind that he had tendered an apology, the Stewards decided not to initiate any action against him for the same. However, he was severely cautioned that if he was found guilty of misbehavior in the future, very severe action may be initiated against him.

BULLET (Y.S.Srinath) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

An enquiry has been initiated in to the running and riding of SEA QUEEN, RIVER MEMORIES and MRIGGNAINEE and a report will be submitted shortly.

After the race, BRIGHT FUTURE was observed to have a cut injury on the left hind canon.  BLESSINGS & BULLET were found to be sound, BLESSINGS had a gum injury.

RACE NO 11 (105) – THE  WANDERING ANGEL PLATE (DIV.I):   (About)  1200 Metres. Runners - 9

On start, SPUTNIK (C.S.Jodha) veered towards to the outside and then again near 1000 metres drifted outwards and thereafter trailed the field. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

After the race, BLUE KNIGHT was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th race viz. RE: JOCKEY J.E. PEREIRA, RIDER OF “SEA TREASURE” REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR HIS CARELESS RIDING IN RACE NO. 46 – THE ALDEBURGE PLATE RUN ON 7TH AUGUST 2010:

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 interviewed Jockey J.E.Pereira in the above connection. The Stewards having heard Jockey J.E.Pereira and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey J.E.Pereira and held him guilty of foul riding on his mount SEA TREASURE in the above race. In that, despite being aware that his horse had the habit of hanging in, he switched his whip to the left hand just before the final bend. Thereafter, when his horse started hanging in after entering the straight and he was aware that there was a horse racing along the rails, on his inside, yet he used the whip with his left hand on the shoulder and deliberately shifted in and caused interference to DEAR LIZA, a fancied runner, so as to benefit another horse belonging to the same connections. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 12th September, 2010 to 16th October, 2010 (both days inclusive) for foul riding (Not permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RINNING AND RIDING OF “STUD OF GOLD” IN RACE NO. 17 – THE ORANGE FLAME PLATE (1200MTRS.) RUN ON 16/07/2010 AND IN RACE NO. 49 – THE ACE PLATE (DIV.I) (1000 MTRS.) RUN ON 07/08/2010, BOTH THE RACES RIDDEN BY JOCKEY I. SHAIKH :

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry and having heard Jockey I.Shaikh and Trainer H.J.Antia and having viewed the video recording of both the races, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey I.Shaikh and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on his mount STUD OF GOLD in Race No.17. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 12th September, 2010 to 25th September, 2010 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia in the subject case, however, they decided to give him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. He was severely cautioned to ensure that his Jockeys follow instructions and do their best in the future and if he was not satisfied with the riding, he should immediately report the matter to the Stipendiary Stewards failing which the inference would be that the Jockey had his tacit approval.

RE: JOCKEY SURAJ NARREDU, RIDER OF “FLAMING ARROW” REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR RIDING AN OVER CONFIDENT RACE  IN RACE NO 14 - THE ATOMIC PRINCE PLATE RUN ON 16TH JULY 2010:

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 interviewed Jockey Suraj Narredu in the above connection. The Stewards having considered the submissions made by him and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him in the subject case and held him guilty of riding an over confident race. In that, he eased his mount in the final stages, probably thinking that he had won the race and when he saw a horse moving fast on the outside he again tried to push his horse but it was too late and this riding cost him a certain race.

However, the Stewards held the view that there was no mala-fide intent and keeping in mind the explanation given by Jockey Suraj Narredu, they took a lenient view in the matter and instead of suspending his Jockey’s license, they decided to only fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/- for riding an over confident race.  Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE ON “FLAMES OF FIRE” IN RACE NO 77 RUN ON 15TH AUGUST 2010, PLACED 2ND, AS COMPARED TO ITS EARLIER RUN IN RACE NO 28 RUN ON 23RD JULY 2010 WHERE IT WAS UNPLACED – TRAINER HJ ANTIA:

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer H.J.Antia  in the above connection. He stated that FLAMES OF FIRE likes to run in the front, however, in Race No.28 on 23rd July, 2010 NEFYN and SMOKIN ACES hit the front and cut pace with each other thereby setting  an extremely fast pace whereby his horse did not get the chance to go to the front. Therefore, FLAMES OF FIRE was settled in third place all the way and he finished fifth, but he was only three lengths behind the second placed horse, SILVER SANDS. He said that in Race No. 77, his horse was able to hit the front and set his own pace and he finished a close second.  Further, in Race No.28 it was the first run of the gelding during the current Pune Meeting. Also, the field in Race No.77 was poor as compared to Race No.28 and therefore his horse managed to finish second this time.

Considering that the pattern of running of the horse was same and the horse was at longer odds in both the races, the explanation tendered by Trainer H.J.Antia has been noted.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 considered the above report and having viewed the video recording of both the races, decided that no action was called for in the matter.
