RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 2200 METRES UP TO 1400 METRES AND 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1 (77) – THE ALGECIRAS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

Soon after the start Jockey Yash Narredu (ARTISTIC) shifted in on to CIGARELLO (Dashrath Singh) who in turn went on to ARAGON (P. S. Chouhan) thereby tightening ANGEL GIRL (P. Trevor) along the rails forcing the latter to check and drop back. Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Passing the 1000 metres, ANGEL GIRL (P. Trevor) shifted out and went across KISS FROM A ROSE (N. S. Parmar) who had to be steadied.

 

Approaching the 300 metres, VULCAN (Kavraj Singh) shifted out on to ANGEL GIRL (P. Trevor) forcing the latter out wide. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been cautioned.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ANGEL GIRL (P. Trevor) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ANGEL GIRL and WINDHOEK were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (78) – THE FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANECKSHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Altaf Hussain, ALISHAS PET was examined at 0825 hours on 27/08/2016 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Tongue Strap used on CRITICS CHOICE was observed to have come off in the paddock the same was put on before the filly left the paddock. 

 

At the start, CRITICS CHOICE (P. Trevor dr. 6) jumped inwards and made contact with STAND AND DANCE (Kavraj Singh dr. 5).

 

Approaching the 800 metres, due to a tightly packed field TURF DANCER (T. S. Jodha) shifted in and bumped PHOENIX FIRE (Santosh G.) who was tightened along the rails and had to be checked.

 

 

RACE NO.3(79)  – THE PARTY WHIP PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – 12 Runners

 

Soon after the start, IMITATION GAME (N. S. Parmar) shifted in on to DANSE DEBONAIRE (Dashrath Singh) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening ATALYA (R. Ajinkya) along the rails Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

 

After the race, SPONTANEOUS EDDIE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (80) – THE COL.KAIKHUSHROO MANECKJI BHARUCHA  MEMORIAL TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – 15 Runners

 

PRINCE OF HEART (Amyn Merchant) jumped out slow, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer C. D. Katrak has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, JETAWAY (App. S. Jaykumar dr. 10) jumped inwards and made contact with DIWALI LIGHTS (Vikram Jodha dr. 9).

 

Soon after the start, ANCIENT TREASURE (App. N. Nadeem) shifted out and bumped DIWALI LIGHTS (Vikram Jodha) who in turn went on to JETAWAY (App. S. Jaykumar). Thereafter ANCIENT TREASURE hung out throughout the race and finished the race on the outer rails. As the horse had behaved in a similar manner in the past, Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to show his charge in two mock races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, JETAWAY (App. S. Jaykumar) shifted in under urgings and bumped DIVINE ANGEL (Altaf Sayyed) unbalancing the latter. After questioning App S. Jaykumar and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, his Apprentice Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 17th Spetember, 2016 to 18th September, 2016 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding.

 

Passing the 300 metres, JETAWAY (App. Jaykumar) shifted out and went across PRINCE OF HEART (Amyn Merchant), who had to check and change course.

 

In the last 50 metres, GREEK GODDESS (App. H. Zeeshan) shifted in and tightened ESPADA (S. S. Baria) along the rails, who had to be checked. After questioning App H. Zeeshan and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, his Apprentice Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 17th Spetember, 2016 to 18th September, 2016 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding. He has also been referred to the riding instructor to improve his riding skills.

 

The saddle used on ART DECO (J. Chinoy) was observed to have shifted forward during the race. Thereafter the lead-bag was observed to have fallen after the winning post and the same was collected by the Stipendiary Steward and Jockey J. Chinoy was weighed-in along with his lead-bag in the presence of the Stipendiary Stewards, and had drawn the proper weight in connection with this incident. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

 

After the race, ANCIENT TREASURE, DIWALI LIGHTS and REALITY were trotted and found to be sound. ANCIENT TREASURE had a cut injury at the left hind, above the hock and JETAWAY had a cut injury at the right fore bulb of heel.

 

RACE NO.5 (81) – THE FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANECKSHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, BEACH GAME (S. S. Baria, dr. 7) jumped inwards on to HIDDEN SOUL (T. S. Jodha, dr. 6) who was slow to begin.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres marker, ZOOM ZOOM (C. Umesh) shifted in on to BEACH GAME (S. S. Baria) who in turn went on to MAKINO (Dashrath Singh). Jockey C. Umesh has been cautioned.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that BACKSTREET BAY and BEACH GAME were examined in trot in the morning on 29/08/2016 at the stables and were found to be sound. BACKSTREET BAY had a cut injury at the left fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.6(82)  – THE ARMED FORCES TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners

 

Approaching the 1400 metres, APACHE (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby inconveniencing PERSIAN PRINCE (P. S. Chouhan).

 

The Sr. V. O. reported that after completion of the race, PERSIAN PRINCE was observed to be sore by the right fore leg. First Aid treatment was given and the gelding and it was sent to the Equine Hospital in the Horse Ambulance for further management. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, JEFFERSON was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(83) – THE F.D.WADIA TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 1400 Metres – 5 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, CARBONARA was examined at 1715 hours on 25/08/2016 and was found to have fever, as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the colt from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the request of Trainer P. Shroff, FRANZ FERDINAND was examined at 1005 hours on 27/08/2016 and was found to be sore by the right hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, TEMERITY (Neeraj Rawal) jumped inwards and made contact with ETERNAL SUNSHINE (A. Sandesh).

 

Approaching the 300 Metres, TEMERITY (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out thereby inconveniencing IN MY DREAM (S. Zervan).

 

After the race, IN MY DREAM was trotted and found to be sound.

 

SNOW CRYSTAL (David Breux) was placed fifth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8(84) – THE ALGECIRAS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Dallas Todywalla, CALIFORNIA DREAM was checked on the track on 26/08/2016 and was found to have broken a blood vessel, as such, the filly was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

TCHIBOUELA (C. S. Jodha) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, WILD JACK (Shrikant Kamble dr.3) jumped inwards and made contact with DIVINE MAGIC (Dashrath Singh dr.2).

 

Soon after the start, TCHIBOUELA (C. S. Jodha) shifted in despite the Jockey’s effort as a result tightening WILD JACK (Shrikant Kamble) and DIVINE MAGIC (Dashrath Singh).

 

Passing the 1100 Metres, WILD JACK (Shrikant Kamble) was observed to have hung out. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures.

 

In the last 100 Metres, EPSILON ORIONIS (Neeraj Rawal) was observed to have been hampered for room and had to be steadied

 

After the race, on inspection it was found that jockey J. E. Pereira (RAEES) was wearing a body protector that was not of an approved standard. As such, he has been fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/-.

 

After the race, DIVINE MAGIC and TCHIBOUELA (examined on 29/08/2016) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(85) – THE SUPREME STAR PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 13 Runners

 

RITZ (C. S. Jodha) jumped out slow, losing about 5 lengths at the start. Since the filly had behaved in a similar manner in her previous start, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting with her to race.

 

At the start CHIVALROUS KNIGHT (C. Umesh, dr. 1) jumped outwards on to SHOW OFF (App. S. A. Amit dr.2) who in turn shifted out inconveniencing MOONDROPS (App. H. Zeeshan dr.3)

 

Passing the 1400 Metres, due to a tightly packed field MOONDROPS (App. H. Zeeshan) dropped back on to SAHASHRABAAHU (P. S. Chouhan) who in an effort to avoid the front runner shifted out inconveniencing AVAKRAZ (Dashrath Singh) and GATSBY (Parbat Singh) 

 

After the race, LAKSH was trotted and found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of all races viz.  ARTISTIC (1st race), CRITICS CHOICE (2nd race), IMITATION GAME (3rd race), GREEK GODDESS (4th race), HIDDEN SOUL (5th race), COLOMBIANA (6th race), TEMERITY (7th race), BOUNTY QUEEN (8th race) and DIBABA (9th race), as also that of JEFFERSON & MELINDA (6th race) & ETERNAL SUNSHINE & IN MY DREAM (7th race), and the special sample of ANGEL GIRL (1st race) and JETAWAY (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RACE NO.9(76) – THE SEA RULER PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 15 Runners

 

Soon after the start, BLAZING STEPS (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.6) shifted in and went across TOUGH ENOUGH (N. B. Kuldeep, dr.3) causing the latter to stumble. Thereafter, BLAZING STEPS further shifted in and bumped WAY AHEAD (A. Sandesh, dr.2). On questioning, Jockey Akshay Gaikwad stated that his mount had hung in despite his efforts to maintain a straight course. As such Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Approaching the 600 Metres, ALIEN (App. K. Nazil) shifted out and bumped BLAZING STEPS (Akshay Gaikwad) and DAFFY DUCK (Shrikant Kamble). App K. Nazil has been fined Rs. 1,000/-.
