RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer M.Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai to saddle his charges BE POSITIVE, APPALACHIA, MATILDA, CHEMIN DE FER & WORTH THE WAIT in the 1^st, 4^th, 5^th, 6^th & 7^th race, at his (Trainer M Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(287) – THE RAZA ALI PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 8

At the start, SOLI DEO GLORIA (P Trevor) jumped awkwardly outwards.

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards Enquiry was held into the running of this race. The reason being that in the last 200 metres, BELLE BRISE (A.Ashhad Asbar, placed first) had shifted out and caused VICTOIRE (Shrikant Kamble, placed 2^nd) to shift out which may have cost him the race.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to revise the order of placing of the race as under :-

VICTOIRE - FIRST; AWESOME SMILE - THIRD;

BELLE BRISE - SECOND; QUANDO QUANDO - FOURTH

BELLE BRISE (A.Ashhad Asbar) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

After the race, CLASSIC RULER, SOLI DEO GLORIA, BE POSITIVE and BELLE BRISE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(288) – THE OCEAN BREEZE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 5

GRAND DUKE (A.Sandesh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, GRAND DUKE was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(289) – THE NIGHT CROWN PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 10

The Clerk of the Scales reported that Jockey D.K.Ashish, the declared Rider for MONEY STRIKE, weighed-out with 2 kg overweight for which no prior permission was sought. After enquiring, Jockey D.K.Ashish was fined Rs.3,000/- for not informing the weight at which he would ride. Since Trainer D.J.Surti was not agreeable for Jockey D.K.Ashish to carry an overweight of 2 kg, Jockey D.K.Ashish was substituted by Jockey A.Sandesh.

At the start, LAURUS TIKATI (N.S.Parmar, dr.10) jumped awkwardly inwards and jostled with SONG OF AFRICA (App.S.Mosin, dr.9). MOUNTAIN WARRIOR (App.Prasad, dr.4) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time TO THE MOON (Shrikant Kamble, dr.5) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with each other.

Passing 800 metres, STAR OF MANHATTAN (J.Pradeep) was tightened for room and steadied.

Jockeys N.S.Parmar (LAURUS TIKATI) and T.S.Jodha (ARABIAN CHIEF) have been fined Rs.1,000/- each, for shifting in before the Red Marker.

After the race, TO THE MOON and AMAZING SMILE were observed to have broken a blood vessel and are not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The Club’s V.O. reported that STAR OF MANHATTAN was examined at the stables in the morning on 29/03/2013 and found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, GATRAVAT, ARABIAN CHIEF, MONEY STRIKE, LAURUS TIKATI, TO THE MOON, AMAZING SMILE and SONG OF AFRICA (examined on 29/03/2013) were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(290) –THE DIEGO RIVERA TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 5

The Club’s V.O. reported that on the way to the start, APPALACHIA was observed to be trotting sore. On examination, it was confirmed that the gelding was sore from the right fore leg. As such, APPALACHIA was certified unfit to race and withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

An objection was lodged by Jockey S.Sunil, rider of MYLA ROSE, (Placed Second) against WINSTON (S.Zervan, Placed First). The reason being, around 250 metres, WINSTON started boring him and in the last 150 metres, he came across sharply whereby he had to stop riding and check his mount, which cost him a certain race.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.Zervan for improper riding on his mount WINSTON and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 13^th April, 2013 to 21^st April, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RACE NO.5(291) – THE M.M.T.PANDOLE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9

At the start, AFROJACK (App.Sandeep Jadhav) lugged in and tightened EDWINA (A.Sandesh) who lost position. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Near 800 metres, EDWINA (A.Sandesh) was tightened and shifted in, due to which TITLEIST (Shrikant Kamble) received interference.

Near 400 metres, MOUNTAIN SONG (App.Prasad) shifted out and made contact with MARTINIQUE (Ikram Khan).

Near 300 metres, MARTINIQUE (Ikram Khan) and MOUNTAIN SONG (App.Prasad) bored each other for a few strides.

Passing 200 metres, MARTINIQUE shifted in and took the running of MOUNTAIN SONG (App.Prasad) who clipped the heels of the former and stumbled. Jockey Ikram Khan was reported to the Stewards for Careless Riding.

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Ikram Khan and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, resolved to suspend his Jockey’s License w.e.f. 13^th April 2013 to 14^th April 2013. (Both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race) for careless riding.

Jockey R.K.Mahesh (MATILDA) reported loss of his whip near 250 metres. The Jockey stated that while using the whip, its handle struck his right leg and hence he lost his whip.

After the race, MARTINIQUE, AFROJACK, AUTUMN RUSH, MOUNTAIN SONG and TITLEIST (examined on 29/03/2013) were found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(292) – THE ALCHEMY PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 6

Trainer Nosher Cama has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charge COGITO ERGO SUM.

Soon on entering the straight, CAPITAL ATTRACTION (Imran Chisty) was held up for a clear run while racing behind CHEMIN DE FER (D.K.Ashish) and HALLE (P.Trevor).

HALLE (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the straight and near 200 metres, shifted in and took the running of CHEMIN DE FER (D.K.Ashish) who was steadied. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

After the race, CHEMIN DE FER was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the mare is not to race for the stipulated period of eight weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.7(293) – THE COLOURS OF HOLI TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 11

Trainer Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing in respect of his charge SANSANI wherein the filly was declared to have All Aluminium but on examination was found to have Aluminium, Hind Bare.

RAJSAMMAN (P.Trevor) lugged out in the straight and carried ZAAGROS (Shrikant Kamble) outwards. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, HUNT FOR HEADS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, RAJSAMMAN was found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(294) – THE NIGHT CROWN PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 11

At the start, PURPLE MOON (Akshay, dr.8) jumped awkwardly and shifted outward and made contact with TAPOCOCHA (S.Sunil, dr.9) who shifted out and at the same time MOUNTAIN LION (T.S.Jodha, dr.10) shifted in after jump, due to which TAPOCOCHA was tightened.

Soon after the start, ATHOS (Neeraj Rawal) shifted ground inwards due to which CRRISP (App.S.Mosin) shifted in and carried RIDING ONTHE STORM (Imran Chisty) inwards, who hampered the running of ZEKI (I.Pasha). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

Passing 400 metres, PURPLE MOON (Akshay) shifted in under the use of the whip and carried RIDING ONTHE STORM (Imran Chisty) inwards, who in turn jostled with ARABIAN LORD (Shammi Khan). An Inquiry into the incident has been kept pending.

Approaching 300 metres, TAPOCOCHA (S.Sunil) shifted out and carried ATHOS (Neeraj Rawal) outwards, who carried MOUNTAIN LION (T.S.Jodha) further out and was steadied when tightened on to TWITTILLATOR (Ishwar Pardeshi). An inquiry into the incident has been kept pending.

Jockey Akshay (PURPLE MOON) reported loss of whip near 200 metres.

After the race, WINCHESTER, CRRISP and MOUNTAIN LION were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1^st, 2^nd, 5^th and 8^th race viz. VICTOIRE, AMISTAD, MOUNTAIN MYNAH and CRRISP, and the special sample of TO THE MOON & AMAZING SMILE (3^rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPLAINT LODGED BY TRAINER NARENDRA LAGAD INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY J.CHINOY ON “DOLMABACHE PALACE” IN RACE NO.280 – THE OSMAN CHOTANI PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 24^TH MARCH, 2013 :

DOLMABACHE PALACE was examined again by the Club’s V.O. on 25/03/2013 and found to be sore and Trainer Narendra Lagad subsequently withdrew his complaint. As such, the above matter was treated as closed. DOLMABACHE PALACE has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
