RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT

 

On a request from Trainer M. Narredu, permission was granted to his Assistant, Mr. Deepesh Narredu to saddle his charges WATERFALL (7th race) and WHOMAKESTHERULES (8th race), at his (Trainer M. Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(221) – THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8 

 

Soon after the start, SHIVALIK PRINCESS (R. Shelar, dr.5) shifted in on to ACKER BILK (P. Trevor, dr.4) forcing the latter to shift in on to ROYAL SAPPHIRE (J. Chinoy, dr.3) who was unbalanced.

 

Passing 800 metres, AMAZON CAT (Kishore Kadam) shifted in thereby tightening PEZZONOVANTE (S. Zervan) who had to be steadied.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ACKER BILK and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.2(222) – THE SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 7

 

At the start, STAR (App. H. Zeeshan, dr. 5) was observed to have jumped out awkwardly.

 

Soon after the start, MERCHANTOFVENICE (H. G. Rathod, dr.6) shifted in and cut across the field before passing the Red Marker. Jockey H. G. Rathod has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing 250 metres, ARIZONA SUN (S. Zervan), MERCHANTOFVENICE (H. G. Rathod) and STRATEGIC MOVE (A. Sandesh) who were racing abreast, jostled amongst themselves.

 

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (STRATEGIC MOVE) reported that his mount hung in throughout the straight whereby he could not use his whip to complete advantage. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ARIZONA SUN was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STRATEGIC MOVE and MERCHANTOFVENICE were found to be sound. STRATEGIC MOVE had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.3(223)  – THE RUSI PATEL TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 7

 

At the start, CONGRESSIONAL (App. Santosh G., dr. 1) shifted out thereby starting a chain reaction due to which PROVIDENCE (Dashrath Singh, dr. 3) had to be steadied.

 

Passing 1100 metres, THE BIG BULL (J. Chinoy) shifted in thereby inconveniencing PAPAKURA (T. S. Jodha).

 

After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (INTELLIGENCE) reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the race. Trainer Vishal Gaikwad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, INTELLIGENCE was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind pastern. THE BIG BULL was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(224) – LE GRIS CHEVAL STAKES: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  11

 

In the process of stalling, the head gear of SEA LAGOON (App. Yash Narredu) came off. The same was fixed and the filly was stalled. At start, SEA LAGOON jumped out throwing its head.

 

At the start, JETAWAY (S. S. Rathore, dr. 5) was observed to have jumped outwards.

 

At the start, INDUS PRINCE (T. S. Jodha, dr.8) shifted out on to ALIEN (App. N. B. Kuldeep, dr.9) forcing the latter to be checked.

 

Approaching 150 metres, JETAWAY (S. S. Rathore) shifted out and bumped MASTER OF TRINITY (Neeraj Rawal) forcing the latter to be checked. After questioning Jockey S. S. Rathore and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, his jockey license has been suspended for a period of one day i.e. 17th March, 2016 for failing to exercise proper control (permitted to ride track work and Mock Race).

 

After the race, App. Yash Narredu (SEA LAGOON) reported that his mount was hanging out in the straight. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SEA LAGOON, INDUS PRINCE, ALIEN, AZADEGAN and JETAWAY were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(225) – THE INTERVALVE POONAWALLA LTD. TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 7

 

Soon after the start, FLASHING HONOUR (A. Sandesh) shifted in thereby inconveniencing SOU’WESTER (P. Trevor).

 

After the race, ZEPHIR and FLASHING HONOUR were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(226 )– THE POONAWALLA BREEDERS’ MULTI-MILLION (GR.1) : - (About) 1400 Metres –Runners - 17 

 

At the start, HIGHLAND BREEZE (Akshay, dr. 4) shifted out on to REDS REVENGE (Amyn Merchant, dr. 5) who had to be steadied.

 

At the start, ACCOLADE (P. Trevor, dr. 6) shifted out on to   ARAK (C. S. Jodha, dr. 7) who in turn went on to IN MY DREAM (Suraj Narredu, dr. 8).

 

At the start, ST. ANDREWS (Colm O’Donoghue, dr. 9) shifted out and at the same time ICE GLACIER (David Allan, dr.11) shifted in, due to which. ARVAK (T. S. Jodha, dr. 10) was tightened for room.

 

At the start SPIRITED REGENT (Arshad Alam, dr. 15) shifted out and went onto CARBONARA (S. Zervan, dr. 16)

 

Soon after the start, COMMON WEALTH (S. John, dr.12) shifted in and went across ICE GLACIER (David Allan, dr.11) and ARVAK (T. S. Jodha, dr.10), due to which the latter had to be checked. Jockey S. John has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 1200 metres, due to a tightly packed field ARAK (C. S. Jodha) had to be steadied.

 

Passing 300 metres, ACCOLADE (P. Trevor) shifted in on to COMMON WEALTH (S. John) who had to be steadied. On questioning, Jockey P. Trevor stated that his mount hung in. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

Passing 300 metres, IN MY DREAM (Suraj Narredu) shifted out on to CARBONARA (S. Zervan). Soon thereafter, IN MY DREAM further shifted out and bumped CARBONARA and took its ground, who in turn shifted out and brushed the haunches of ALLORA (Dashrath Singh). The incident will be taken up for consideration by the Stewards at their next meeting.

 

Jockey Arshad Alam (SPIRITED REGENT) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race Jockey Colm O’ Donoghue (ST. ANDREWS) reported that his mount weakened in the last 400 metres.

 

After the race, ICE GLACIER was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind pastern. ACCOLADE and ST. ANDREWS were found to be sound.

 

SPIRITED REGENT (Arshad Alam) was placed fifth and BOLD MARCH (A. Sandesh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.7(227) – THE DR.GOOLAM E.VAHANVATI GOLD TROPHY (DIV.I):(About) 1200 Metres– Runners – 8

 

At the start, FLASHY WINGS (A. Sandesh, dr.7) jumped outwards due to which ERDIMIR (Amyn Merchant, dr. 8) shied away. Thereafter FLASHY WINGS (A. Sandesh) shifted in. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Amyn Merchant (ERDEMIR) reported that his mount hung out soon after the start right up to the bend. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (WATERFALL) reported that his mount hung out in the initial stages of the race. Tr. M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, WAR ‘N’ PEACE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(228) –THE DR.GOOLAM E.VAHANVATI GOLD TROPHY (DIV.II):(About) 1200 Metres– Runners – 8

 

IT’S A DEAL (S. Sunil) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (AURORA AUSTRALIS) was observed to have checked his mount in order to avoid clipping the heels of the front runner.

 

Passing 300 metres, FLAMBOYAMT FLAME (A. Sandesh) shifted in and bumped WHOMAKESTHERULES (Suraj Narredu). After questioning Jockey A. Sandesh, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

RACE NO.9(229) – THE SIR VICTOR SASSOON GOLD TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres– Runners – 9

 

LEGEND OF THE SEAS (App. Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Tr. Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, STAND AND DANCE (App. D. S. Daman, dr.2) shifted out on to THE CHAMP (P. Trevor, dr.3).

 

Passing 1200 metres, AN JOLIE (App. Yash Narredu) shifted in on to TRAHERNE (Suraj Narredu).

 

After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (TRAHERNE) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

The Sr. V. O. reported that after the race TRAHERNE showed symptoms of exhaustion in the paddock. The gelding was washed with cold water in the Saddling Enclosure and first aid treatment was given.

 

After the race, TRAHERNE, TOP BRACKET, SINDBAAD and LEGEND OF THE SEAS were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of all races viz. RESILIENT (1st race),  GOLDEN BELLE (2nd race), CONGRESSIONAL (3rd race), ALISHAS PET (4th race), OLLY BOY (5th race), ACCOLADE (6th race) FLASHY WINGS (7th race), WHOMAKESTHERULES (8th race) and THE CHAMP (9th race), as also that of IN MY DREAM, COMMON WEALTH & ICE GLACIER (6th race), and the special sample of ZEPHIR (5th race), ST. ANDREWS (6th race) and WAR ‘N’ PEACE (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RACE NO.203 –THE NATIONAL SPORTS CLUB OF INDIA TROPHY (DIV.I) RUN ON 20th  FERBARY, 2016 :

 

The Sr. V. O. reported that EXCELONCE, winner of the above race, did not pass urine in the stipulated time period and hence the post race sample collection was abandoned.

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM MR.KAVRAJ SINGH IN RESPECT OF WITHDRAWAL OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE TILL THE END OF THE MUMBAI MEETING 2015/16 FOR NOT PERMITTING HIS MOUNT “MAKE WAY FOR ME” TO RUN ON ITS MERITS IN RACE NO.30 – THE STORM PLATE RUN ON 2nd AUGUST, 2015 AT (PUNE MEETING 2015) – THE OWNER ALSO HAD LODGED A COMPLAINT THAT HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE JOCKEY’S RIDING  :

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 28th February, 2016 considered Mercy Petition from Mr. Kavraj Singh in respect of the captioned subject matter.  The Board of Appeal having studied all documents and papers, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds to the entire facts of the case, decided to reject the Mercy Petition.

RE : APP.S.J.SUNIL – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB FOR USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT “SANAM” IN RACE NO.219 – THE CAMPANERO PLATE RUN ON 25th FEBRUARY, 2016 – FOURTH OFFENCE :  

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday, 28th February, 2016 interviewed App. S. J. Sunil who was accompanied by his Master, Tr. Sanjay Kolse, in the above connection. Having heard them and having viewed the video of Race No.219, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App. S. J. Sunil and held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount SANAM. This being his fourth offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2015/16,  as per the Calendar Notification “Re “ Use of Whip”, the Stewards decided to deprive him of the use of the whip in races till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2015/16. Since he was already declared to ride on 28th February, 2016, his punishment is to take effect from 29th February, 2016 till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2015/16. Further, he was severely cautioned for giving misleading evidence before the Stewards. Also, App. S. J. Sunil was told to improve his riding skills and to practice the use of whip under the guidance of the Riding Instructor, Mr. Aslam Kader.
