RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1100 METRES UPTO THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Suresh Chavan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charges DISTINGUISH & VICTOR IVANOE in the 1st & 8th race respectively, at his (Trainer Suresh Chavan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(233) – THE WHOPPER PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, TOWERING HIGH (Kavraj Singh) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to CUBA (Akshay), who in turn caused SWEATY BETTY (Akash Agarwal) to shift in.

  

At the start, ARABIAN CHIEF (A.Sandesh) jumped awkwardly and went across DISTINGUISHED (S.Sameer), who itself was slow to begin.

 

App.Sandeep Jadhav (RIO DEL RAY) has been cautioned for travelling wide while negotiating the bend.

 

When questioned, Jockey Dashrath Singh (TUDOR REGENT) stated that his Instructions were to be in 4th or 5th position and to do his best. He added that the gelding did not handle the going which he felt was soft. He also stated that other Jockeys were of the same opinion. He added that the gelding did not respond to the urgings. A Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

 

After the race, TOWERING HIGH was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, RIO DEL RAY was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind pastern. TUDOR REGENT & DISTINGUISHED were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(234) – THE  ASSESSED PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres  – 14 Runners

 

Passing 400 metres, XENIA (Dashrath Singh) shifted out and made contact with WINDS OF CHANGE (P.Kamlesh). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

Near 300 metres, SPEED UP (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and took the running of WINDS OF CHANGE (P.Kamlesh) who was checked and shifted in. Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been fined Rs.5000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

When questioned, Trainer C.D.Katrak stated that WINDS OF CHANGE had no form coming into this race. He had applied Blinkers this time and hoped that the gelding will improve but has been disappointing. The explanation has been noted.

 

After the race, XENIA was observed to have an abrasion at both hind fetlock and STYLISH STROKES had a cut injury at the right hind hock. WINDS OF CHANGE was found to be sound, but having wolf tooth on the left side. Tr.Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures.

 

RACE NO.3(235) – THE  MOUNT ROSE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 12 Runners

 

Near 700 metres, HILL RANGER (S.Zervan) shifted in and caused ALWAYS SMILE (App.Tushar Nemane) to shift in, who in turn tightened FOXTROT (A.Sandesh) who lost position. RISING ANGEL (Zameer Sayyed) who was following, was forced to shift out and in doing so, went out on to MINUTE TO WIN IT (Nirmal Jodha) who was checked and then went on to WALKING TALL (Akshay) who tightened CROWNED PRINCESS (Dashrath Singh) on to MCQUEEN (D.K.Ashish). Jockey S.Zervan has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount and Jockey Zameer Sayyed has been cautioned for not holding on to his position rather than shifting out.  

 

Near 300 metres, MINUTE TO WIN IT (Nirmal Jodha) was held up for a run while racing on the inside of MAHIMA (Neeraj Rawal).

 

RAKHSH (J.Pradeep) hung in during the race. Since the filly was reported to be sore by the right fore leg after the race, no action has been initiated in the matter. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CROWNED PRINCESS was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right fore fetlock. MINUTE TO WIN IT had a cut injury at the left fore fetlock. Also the left fore plate was loose and the same wsa removed in the paddock. ALKAZI, FOXTROT, ALWAYS SMILE and MAHIMA (examined on 28/10/2012) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(236) – THE  PROLETARIAN PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 11 Runners

 

ECLIPSED (Dashrath Singh) tried to duck the front gates and in the process got cast below it, damaging its stall. As such, ECLIPSED was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

 

At the start, RECKLESS ROMEO (Akshay) dipped and made contact with FLYING KISS (A.Sandesh).

 

Jockey S.S.Baria (PEAK PEAK PEAK) has been cautioned for travelling wide during the race.

 

Jockey J.E.Periera (DOUBLE DIAMOND) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (FLYING KISS), when questioned, stated that his mount rolled out rounding the 1000 metres turn but was in good position till coming into the straight and the filly did not respond to his urgings. A Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

 

Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (BAY BLUES), when questioned, stated that the filly was trying to run out during the race and he had difficulty in riding out his mount. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (NEW WINGS) has been advised to be more careful and asked to ensure that there is enough space for the horses on his inside. 

 

After the race, GIBRAN was found to be sore by the right fore leg.  The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FLYING KISS, BAY BLUES, NEW WINGS and PEAK PEAK PEAK were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(237) – THE PARTY WHIP PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 5 Runners

 

Near the 1200 metres, BIZARRO (P.Kamlesh) was steadied when racing behind SILVER BIRCH (S.Zervan).

 

BIZARRO (P.Kamlesh) lugged in during the race. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.  

 

After the race, WHITE KNIGHT and BIZARRO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(238) – THE  PROLETARIAN PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 13 Runners

 

Jockeys B.Prakash (STEP UP) and A.Sandesh (IN THE LIMELIGHT) have been fined Rs.1000/- and Rs.3000/- respectively for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on their respective mount.

 

Trainer S.Mangalorkar and Jockey S.S.Baria were questioned regarding the running and riding of ROGER BCOOL. The instructions to the Jockey were to brush up the gelding and be well up and to continue to ride him out even if the gelding hangs out which is a habit with the gelding. To another question, the Trainer stated that he had not given any specific instruction to ride the horse out from the outside. The Trainer was not too satisfied with the handling of his charge by the Jockey. Jockey S.S.Baria confirmed the instructions and said that he had done his best. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.S.Baria, he has been fined Rs.5000/- for travelling wide while negotiating the final bend and in the straight.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that ROGER BCOOL, QUEEN OF VENUS and ARABIAN FIGHTER were examined at the sables on 28/10/2012 and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(239) – THE PUNE CANTONMENT BOARD TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres– 9 Runners

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that while approaching the starting gates, AIGAION was observed to be coming sore. On examination, it was confirmed that the gelding was sore from the left fore leg. As such, AIGAION was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the start, JAIPUR GEM (C.S.Jodha) was inclined to drift outwards and did not raise an effective gallop.  

 

Near 100 metres, MONSIEUR STRAUSS (S.Sunil) ducked outward sharply when struck with the whip and went across YOUR LORDSHIP (Shrikant Kamble), which eased.

 

Jockey J.E.Pereira (ACE IMAGE) reported that his mount lugged out from 700 metres until well into the straight. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race filly. 

 

After the race, BURN, MONSIEUR STRAUSS and ACE IMAGE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(240) – THE ASSESSED PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 13 Runners

 

At the request of Tr.Himmat Singh, HOT AS ICE was examined at 1745 hours on 26/10/2012 and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, CEASARINA (Kavraj Singh) jumped awkwardly outwards due to which STAR STORM (B.Sreekanth) shifted out and tightened ABSOLUTE STAR (Akshay) on to RIDING ONTHE STORM (P.Kamlesh) who had also jumped awkwardly inwards.

 

Passing 600 metres, RIDING ONTHE STORM (P.Kamlesh) shifted out and forced MOUNTAIN LION (App.Tushar Nemane) outwards. Jockey P.Kamlesh has been fined Rs.1000/-.

 

Near 300 metres, GARARO (A.Ashhad Asbar) shifted out and forced ABSOLUTE STAR (Akshay) to shift out who in turn caused STAR STORM (B.Sreekanth) to shift out, who hampered the running of MOUNTAIN LION (App.Tushar Nemane). Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar has been reprimanded.

 

Jockey Shammi Khan (ADAMS VISION) has been fined Rs.1000/- for travelling wide while negotiating the bend and in the straight. 

 

After the race, STAR STORM, HEARTHROB, RIDING ONTHE STORM, CONZTANZA, ENLIGHTENING, RADICAL MACKIE, MOUNTAIN LION and VICTOR IVANOV were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(241) – THE PUNE CANTONMENT BOARD TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

ASHWA PRANAV (I.Pasha) was slowly out and thereafter did not raise an effective gallop and ran detached from the field. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures and ensure that his charge runs with the field in future.

 

NOVAK (Shrikant Kamble) kept an erratic course in the straight and hampered the running of AUGUST SUNSHINE (R.K.Mahesh). Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been cautioned.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (GATES OF HEAVEN) reported that his mount jumped awkwardly due to which he lost his right stirrup which he regained near 800 metres.

 

Near the 850 metres, GATES OF HEAVEN (A.Sandesh) rolled out brushing BASIC LIFE (D.K.Ashish), which shifted out inconveniencing AUGUST SUNSHINE (R.K.Mahesh).

 

STARSONBOARD (Dashrath Singh) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, GATES OF HEAVEN was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel. ASHWA PRANAV, SCOTCH WHITE and STARSONBOARD (examined on 28/10/2012) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10(242) – THE IRISH BOSS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 12 Runners

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that whilst proceeding to the Starting Gates, TELL ME MORE was observed to be going sore.  The gelding was stopped near 2200 metres and on examination it was confirmed that the gelding was sore from right fore leg. As such, TELL ME MORE was  certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (SEVEN SEAS) reported loss of whip between the 100 and 50 metres from the winning post. This being the third occasion that he had lost the whip, he has been fined Rs.5000/-.

 

After the race, EL CLASICO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STAR MOUNTAIN was observed to have a cut injury at the left fore fetlock. PELIKANO, SET TO FLY and ETESIAN were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.11(243) – THE MOUNT ROSE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 12 Runners

 

BONGONI (A.Sandesh) kept an erratic course from 400 metres and hampered the running of FORTUNER (App.Prabhu Naidu). Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.

 

Near 200 metres, SCARLET REGENT (B.Sreekanth) shifted out and hampered the running of WARRIOR PRINCE (App.Tushar Nemane). Jockey B.Sreekanth has been fined Rs.2000/-.

 

Approaching 600 metres, NATIVE LADY (Akshay) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of FORTUNER (App.Prabhu Naidu) and again as FORTUNER shifted ground inwards and went across NATIVE LADY. App.Prabhu Naidu has been cautioned.

 

When questioned, Jockey B Sreekanth (SCARLET REGENT) stated that the gelding did not handle the track conditions well. He added that the gelding lugged out during the race due to which he had difficulty in riding out his mount.

 

After the race, BONGANI was found to be sore by the left fore leg.  The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PHOSPHOR, SCARLET REGENT, THREE ROSES and WARRIOR PRINCE were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of  4th, 6th, 8th and 10th race, viz. BANANA BOY, STEP UP, RED TABASCO and SABA and the special sample of TUDOR REGENT & TOWERING HIGH `1(1st race), WINDS OF CHANGE (2nd race), BIZARRO (5th race), EL CLASICO (10th race) and SCARLET REGENT (11th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : OBJECTION IN RACE NO.206 – THE F.A. & K.A. IRANI TROPHY RUN ON 14TH OCTOBER, 2012 – JOCKEY C.S.JODHA, RIDER OF “BORDERLINE” – CARELESS RIDING :

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 27th October, 2012 interviewed Jockey C.S.Jodha for careless riding on his mount BORDERLINE in the above race and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license 18th November, 2012 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH ON “INVICTUS” IN RACE NO.210 – THE PUNE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S TROPHY (1400 METRES) RUN ON SUNDAY, 14TH OCTOBER, 2012 – THE OWNER AND TRAINER LODGED A VERBAL COMPLAINT AFTER THE RACE THAT THEY WERE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE JOCKEY’S RIDING :

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 27th October, 2012 considered the evidence obtained bythe Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh who was accompanied by his Spokesman, Mr.S.Kapoor as also the Owner, Mr.Homi Mehta and Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait. 

 

Having heard all the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race in question as also the previous race of the horse run during the current Pune Meeting, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of riding an injudicious race.

 

The Stewards noted that Jockey Dashrath Singh was specifically instructed not to disappoint the horse and to settle well up in 3rd/4th position. The horse took a good jump and was in a good position after the start but for no apparent reason the Jockey allowed the horse to gradually drop back  and thereafter made no apparent effort to improve his position.

 

Further, rounding the final bend, he showed no urgency to make his move thereby allowing RELIC HUNTER, the ultimate winner, to take a big break which may have cost him the race since his horse covered a lot of ground and lost the race by ¾ lengths.

 

Taking an overall view, the Stewards decided :-

 

a)    to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 18th November, 2012 to 29th November, 2012 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race);

b)    to fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/-
