RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, permission was granted to Trainer S.Managlorkar to saddle his charges IMPRESSIVE TOUCH (2^nd race), STAR BENEVOLENT (6^th race) and OCTOPAUL (7^th race), at his (Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Vinay Lagad, permission was granted to Trainer Narendra Lagad to saddle his charge EYE OF THE STORM in the 3^rd race, at his (Trainer Vinay Lagad’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer S.K.Sunderji to saddle his charges SILVERIO & STRIKING SHADOW (3^rd race), MOON SHADOW (4^th race), CLASSIC RULER & QUEEN OF VENUS (8^th race) & GATES OF HEAVEN (9^th race), at his (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charge RELIC HUNTER in the 7^th race, at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(356) – THE BRAVISSIMA PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 10

At the request of Trainer Zadmal Singh, RIVER TERN was examined at 1010 hours on 27/04/2013 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg with swelling at the left cannon, as such the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

Jockey C.S.Jodha was declared by Trainers Jayantilal K.Gor and Adhirajsingh Jodha to ride on EQUIANO and DAUGHTEROFDESTINY respectively. After enquiring into the matter, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs.1,000/- for declaring a Jockey without his consent.

MIRACLE OF MERCY (P.Trevor, dr.7) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to BLUSH (V.Chandrakant, dr.6).

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (DAREDEVIL) reported that he did not get a clear run in the straight.

LAURUS TIKATI (N S Parmar) was inconvenienced near 400 metres while racing between PRINCE ARIUS (App S.Mosin) and MIRACLE OF MERCY (P.Trevor).

After the race, NEPTUNE was found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(357) – THE W.BUCKLEY PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 6

Jockey S.Zervan (EQUINOX) has been cautioned for dropping his hands before the Post.

After the race, KALINGA STAR was observed to have a cut injury on the tongue. CORNELIAN was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(358) – THE TRAINERS TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 12

Near 300 metres, GLORIOUS OPINION (T.S.Jodha) commenced to shift in under the use of the whip and near 200 metres made contact with SNOW FLAKE (A.Sandesh) on a few occasions and later took the ground of SNOW FLAKE. Jockey T.S.Jodha has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

SILVERO (D.A.Naik) trailed the field and finished a detached last. This being the first run of the horse, no action was initiated beyond advising the Trainer to ensure that the gelding is capable of running with the field, before next accepting with him to race.

After the race, IL MORAN was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind cannon. SILVERIO, STRIKING SHADOW, ZOLTAN and EYE OF THE STORM were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(359) –THE ATMOSPHERE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 16

Trainer Adil Dajee has been fined Rs.1,000/- for bringing his charge PRIZE FIGHTER into Paddock without the Tongue Strap, permission for the use of which was obtained. The gelding ran with a Tongue Strap.

Passing 400 metres, MOUNTAIN WARRIOR (S.Zervan) hung inwards and jostled with BE COOL (J.E.Pereira), who went on to CALYPSO QUEEN (A.Ashhad Asbar). Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Near 300 metres, PRIZE FIGHTER (T.S.Jodha) was inconvenienced as ZARACHA (D.K.Ashish) shifted out to avoid clipping the heels of MOUNTAIN WARRIOR (S.Zervan) who lugged in that stage.

ZOE (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the final 200 metres. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

After the race, PRIZE FIGHTER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, FLYING KISS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, VALOROZKY, BE COOL, MOUNTAIN WARRIOR, PRIZE FIGHTER, ZOE and ICE GATE (examined on 28/04/2013) were found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(360) – THE ALVIDA PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners – 7

After the race, BRUNELLO, FORTUNE HUNTER and COLOSSUS were found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(361) – THE LUCKY PAIR PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11

SANSANI was declared to have plain Aluminium whereas on examination, the filly was found to have Aluminium, Hind Bare. This being Trainer Altaf Hussain’s third instance of declaring incorrect shoeing, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

SANSANI (Deep Shanker) ran erratically in the straight and near 150 metres shifted out and hampered the running of WASABI (A.Sandesh) and again inconvenienced the latter about 50 metres from the Winning Post.

RAJSAMMAN (S.Zervan) lugged out during the race, as such Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, DARK WILLIAM, RAJSAMMAN, STAR BENEVOLENT and WAR HORSE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(362) – THE STONE RIDGE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 11

OCTOPAUL (Neeraj Rawal) was slow in the stride, losing about 3 lengths at the start. The trainer has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

At the start, STAYING ALIVE (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.6) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to ICE AFFAIR (App.Prasad, dr.7) who in turn went on to ICE ZONE (Akshay, dr.8) who went on to RELIC HUNTER (N.S.Parmar, dr.9) who had also jumped awkwardly inwards.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (STAYING ALIVE) reported that his mount did not get a clear run near 400 metres for a few strides.

OCTOPAUL (Neeraj Rawal) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A Sait has to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, RELIC HUNTER, OCTOPAUL and ICE AFFAIR were found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(363) – THE SWEEPING SUCCESS TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 14

CELSIUS (N.S.Parmar) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter was fractious in the stall. After being stalled, AUTUMN RUSH (R.Shelar) was fractious and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give his charges more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

CAPITANO & SHEER ROMANCE were brought late into the Paddock. The reason being that at the first time, the saddle cloth numbers were interchanged and while correcting the same, the Saddles got interchanged, which caused the delay. As such Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.5,000/- for negligence.

At the start, PORT BLAIRE (S.Zervan, dr.4) was converged upon as CELSIUS (N.S.Parmar, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and AFROJACK (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.5) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Near 800 metres, MOUNTAIN SONG (S.P.Ranjane) shifted in and caused SHEER ROMANCE (Akshay) to shift in, who in turn hampered the running of FESTIVAL NIGHT (P.Trevor). Jockey S.P.Ranjane has been cautioned.

Near 300 metres, FESTIVAL NIGHT (P.Trevor) shifted out to progress and was maneuvered around PORT BLAIR (S.Zervan) who was inclined to lean outwards, and in doing so, inconvenienced CLASSIC RULER (D.K.Ashish).

Jockey S.P.Ranjane (MOUNTAIN SONG) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, GRAND MARCH was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon. ASTROMIA, PORT BLAIR, MOUNTAIN SONG, CAPITANO, QUEEN OF VENUS, TWILIGHT and TITLEIST were found to be sound.

RACE NO.9(364) – THE ATMOSPHERE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 17

At the start, ICE SKATES (Hanumant Singh, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to GOLDEN SPURS (App.Prasd, dr.5) and as ICE SKATES was being steadied, shifted out and caused DREAMS R MINE (P.Trevor, dr.7) to shift out. At the same time GATES OF HEAVEN (S.Zervan, dr.8) shifted in as WINNING DESTINY (V.Chandrakant, dr. 9) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Jockey Zameer Sayyed (GOTTAWEARSHADES) has been cautioned for unbalancing his mount between 300 metres and 100 metres.

After the race, ENDLESS HORIZON was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, NATIONAL IKON was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 4^th, 5^th, 6^th and 7^th race viz. MOON SHADOW, HONEST PLEASURE, WAR HORSE and BARRINGO, and the special sample of PRIZE FIGHTER (4^th race) and COLOSSUS (5^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: MERCY PETITION RECEIVED FROM JOCKEY S.ZERVAN IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 20^TH APRIL 2013 TO 28^TH APRIL 2013 FOR IMPROPER RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “WINSTON” IN RACE NO 290 RUN ON 28^TH MARCH 2013

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 23^rd April 2013 considered the Mercy Petition filed by Jockey S.Zervan and having studied all documents and papers that were submitted and having heard the submissions made by him decided to modify his punishment. Accordingly, the Board decided to set aside the remaining period of his suspension of his Jockey’s License (which was up to and inclusive of 28^th April 2013) and instead imposed on him a fine of Rs.50,000/-.
