RACE NO.1(93) – THE ALVARITA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

PRECIOUS OPINION (Akshay) took a fly jump.

At the start STELLA (R.Shelar) jumped out awkwardly.

Approaching 200 metres, DOUBLE OR QUITS (App.S.Mosin) was held up for a few strides as HOT AS ICE (N.S.Parmar) shifted in as the filly lugged-in. Trainer Himmat Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

Jockey Amyn Merchant (LAURUS TIKATI) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit. Since the gelding lugged-in in the straight and the whip was used as a corrective measure, no action has been initiated against the Jockey. However, Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, SLEUTH, JENS SECRET and LAURUS TIKATI were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(94) –THE A CAMPBELL TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  4

After the race, HILLS AND HEIGHTS was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.3(95) – THE  DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

At the start, WIKI WIKI (A.Sandesh, dr.5) was converged upon when DREAMLINER (J.Pradeep, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and at the same time STAYING ALIVE (Altaf Sayyed, dr.4) shifted out due to AWESOME SMILE (V.Chandrakant, dr.3) shifting out at that stage.

After the race, STAYING ALIVE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, AWESOME SMILE, RAJSAMMAN, TITLEIST and WIKI WIKI were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(96) – THE  STAR PRINCESS PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  13

MEGA STAR (V.Chandrakant) jumped out slow, losing about 6 lengths at the start and SALSA (App.S.Mosin) planted and took no practical part in the race. Trainers Narendra Lagad and D.J.Surti have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge YARDSTICK in this race which the filly won as compared to her earlier run in Race No 40 run on 1st December 2013 where she was unplaced. The Trainer stated that his instructions were to let the filly go to the front on her own which the filly was able to do. In her earlier run in Race No 40, he had given the same instructions to Jockey Shammi Khan and the filly was right up there but being a 1200 metres race, she fizzled out in the last 200 metres. Also, in Race No.40, there was a fast horse and Jockey Shammi Khan could not catch the rails as App.S.G.Prasad did this time. Trainer H.J.Antia was reminded that there was a common horse in DARK WILLIAM who beat his filly by about 8 lengths and today his filly narrowly beat DARK WILLIAM to which he stated that in the previous race which was run over 1200 metres, YARDSTICK was always ahead of DARK WILLIANS for the first 1000 metres and was overtaken by DARK WILLIANS about 100 metres from home. Also this time he had claimed 5 kgs off her and she ran 200 metres less. He opined that if today’s race was run over 1200 metres, possibly DARK WILLIAM would have beaten his filly. When asked whether he had fancied the filly this time, Tr.Antia said that DARK WILLIAM was fancied strongly in this race and considering his filly’s previous run vis-à-vis DARK WILLIAM, he too gave a chance to YARDSTICK.

Whilst noting the explanation tendered by Trainer HJ Antia, he has been cautioned for the future.

After the race, MIDNIGHT WIND was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that VALOROZKY was examined at the stables in the morning on 27/12/2013 and was found to be sound.
