RACE NO.1 (8) – THE JAMSHED DALAL TROPHY : (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, approaching the 400 metres ASTOUNDING BAY (Yash Narredu) was angled inwards due to which KENNEDY (App.H.Zeeshan) shifted in thereby tightening STAR COMRADE (Bhawani singh) causing the latter to be checked. Thereafter, instead of taking corrective measures, Jockey Yash Narredu continued to urge his mount causing it to further shift in thus tightening and subsequently taking the ground of KENNEDY. As a result of this, KENNEDY lost its footing and was unbalanced thereby dislodging its rider. As a consequence of this incident, SILVER KING (S.Zervan) was tightened along the rails and STAR COMRADE (Bhawani Singh) had to be held in order to avoid the fallen rider. Also, the rider less KENNEDY shifted out on to ALOHA (N.B.Kuldeep) who had to be checked.
After considering the submissions made by Jockey Yash Narredu, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.
The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey Yash Narredu for dangerous riding on ASTOUNDING BAY. Having heard Jockey Yash Narredu and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 7 Race Days w.e.f. 10th August, 2019 to 1st September, 2019 (both days inclusive) for dangerous riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
