RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS  WERE PLACED 8 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 12 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charge QUICK FIRE in the 6th race, at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(229) – THE RONALDO PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres -  Runners - 4

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (CYCLOPS) was observed to have the used in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being the third offence with regard to use of the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, his Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 13th March 2014 to 16th March 2014 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work / mock race).

 

RACE NO.2(230) - THE ICEBREAKER TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 4

 

After the race, LEGEND OF THE SEAS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(231) - THE BRIGHT HANOVAR TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 6

 

Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charge AWESOME KNIGHT.

 

At the start, AWESOME KNIGHT (C.S.Jodha, dr.4) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to WITHOUT FEAR (Shrikant Kamble, dr.3).

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (CAPTAIN ABDON) reported that his mount hung-in while negotiating the bend and in the straight. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Near 100 metres, ZUMI ZUMI (P.Trevor) weakened, as a result CAPTAIN ABDON (Kavraj Singh) who was following, was steadied and was forced to shift out.

 

RACE NO.4(232) – THE PONTA DELGADO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 9

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that on the way from the stables to the saddling enclosure, GOVERNNOR got loose and suffered multiple injuries on all four legs and on the belly. As such, the gelding was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The trainer has to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, STARSONBOARD (R.Shelar, dr.3) shifted out due to which MIRACLE OF MERCY (D.A.Naik, dr.4) in turn shifted out and went on to WALK OF FAME (J.Pradeep, dr.5).

 

Soon after the start, GOTTAWEARSHADES (S.G.Prasad) shifted-in and went across VOICE OF FAITH (S.Mosin) who was steadied. Jockey S.G.Prasad has been reprimanded.

 

Travelling some distance from the start, AFRICANA (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted out and at the same time GOTTAWEARSHADES (S.G.Prasad) shifted in whereby both the horses made contact with each other. Both the Jockeys have been cautioned.

 

A few strides from the Wining Post, WALK OF FAME (J.Pradeep) shifted-in and took the running of MIRACLE OF MERCY (D.A.Naik) due to which, MIRACLE OF MERCY clipped the heels of WALK OF FAME, stumbled and dislodged the rider. After questioning,  Mr.J.Pradeep’s Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 13th March 2014 to 16th March 2014 (both days inclusive) for Careless Riding. (Permitted to ride work / Mock race).

 

AFRICANA (Ishwar Pardeshi) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, AFRICANA, MIRACLE OF MERCY, VOICE OF FAITH, WALK OF FAME and FLYING KISS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(233) – THE FABULOUS STAR PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 8

 

CASINO JACK (S.Zervan) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

 

ZOLTAN (B.Nikhil) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, CASINO JACK, ZOLTAN and VIVA ZAPATA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(234) - THE LEI PLATE:(About) 1000 Metres–Runners - 7

 

Approaching 800 metres, CELSIUS (C.S.Jodha) shifted-in  and tightened QUICK FIRE (J.Fortune) and then took its running, who in turn shifted-in and tightened SONG OF SPARROW (Akshay). The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey C.S.Jodha and not being satisfied with the explanation of him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s License w.e.f 13th March 2014 to 16th March 2014 (both days inclusive) for Careless Riding. (Permitted to ride work / Mock race).  Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

 

ALBUURZ (Kavraj Singh) was inclined to lug-out in the straight. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

On questioning, Jockey J.Fortune (QUICK FIRE) stated that his instructions were to be ‘handy’. He added that he was interfered with near 800 metres and then the filly had nothing to offer in the straight. To another question, he added that the filly had worked well. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, QUICK FIRE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(235) – THE F.K.VAKIL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 11

 

At the start, STARRIANO (R Shelar) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Approaching 1200 metres, CURIOSITY (J.Pradeep) was tightened as SAMBA WARRIOR (S.Zervan) leaned inwards.

 

PHELPS (Kavraj Singh) was tightened while racing between DOC HOLIDAY (A.Sandesh) and SHAUGHNESSY (C.S.Jodha) between the 1200 and 1100 metres.

 

Passing 1000 metres, STARRIANO (R.Shelar) raced keen and whilst being settled, shifted out and went on to BRAVE FIGHTER (P.Trevor).

 

Near 800 metres, ANTARTICA ZONE (Neeraj Rawal) was tightened while racing on the inside of DOC HOLIDAY (A.Sandesh).

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (SHAUGHNESSY) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in approaching 200 metres and going across STARRIANO (R.Shelar) who was steadied.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (SAMBA WARRIOR) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out under the use of whip from 150 metres to the winning post and in the process going across PHELPS (Kavraj Singh).

 

Jockey S.G.Prasad (SONG OF RIVER) reported the loss of whip between 250 and 300 metres.

 

After the race, PHELPS and CURIOSITY (examined on 27/02/2014) were found to be sound. CUTIOSITY had an injury in the right eye.

 

RACE NO.8(236) – THE PONTA DELGADO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9

 

At the request of Trainer Nazak Chenoy, THE MAGICIAN was examined at 0745 hours on 25/02/2014 and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

At the start, MR MORRISON (D.K.Ashish, dr.7) was converged upon as SILSILA (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.6) jumped awkwardly outwards and PRETTY IN PATPONG (Hanumant Singh, dr.8) jumped awkwardly inwards.

 

Jockey S.Mosin (BLIND DATE) has been cautioned for shifting in near 800 metres wherein he went on to PRETTY IN PATPONG (Hanumant Singh) who in turn shifted in and hampered SILSILA (Sandeep Jadhav).

 

Jockey Sandeep Jadhav (SILSILA) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in in the final stages of the race and taking the running of WINDSOR QUEEN (J Pradeep) who was steadied.

 

In the final stages of the race, FABRIZIO (Akshay) scrapped the rails. Jockey Akshay has been cautioned for Improper use of the whip.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th race, viz. ROYAL PASSION, SONG OF AFRICA, OSRIC and SILSILA, and the special sample of QUICK FIRE (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
