RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “VIVA LA DIVA” IN RACE NO.71 – THE CONTINUAL PLATE RUN ON THURSDAY, 15TH DECEMBER, 2011 – SHOW CAUSE ISSUED TO JOCKEY S.P.RANJANE FOR NOT PERMITTING HIS MOUNT “VIVA LA DIVA” ON ITS MERITS :

The  Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 25th December, 2011 interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey S.P.Ranjane in the above connection.

The Stewards having heard all the submissions made by Jockey S.P.Ranjane and Trainer H.J.Antia, including Jockey S.P.Ranjane’s reply to the Show Cause Notice and having viewed the video recording of Race No.71, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.P.Ranjane in the subject case and held him guilty of not permitting his mount VIVA LA DIVA to run on it’s merits in the above race. In that, his instructions were to hit the front or be well up and to do his best in the straight. He was slightly inconvenienced on jump out and had to steady his mount but thereafter he made no apparent effort to improve his position and sit well up as instructed. Further, on entering the straight twice he had the opportunity to take an opening but he made no attempt to take the gap and instead went behind horses thereby denying his horse a clear run and took the horse out when the race was nearly over. Further, he did not use the whip even once despite the Trainer giving him no instructions not to use the whip and he was feeble in his riding efforts. Trainer H.J.Antia also expressed his dissatisfaction with the Jockey’s riding on VIVA LA DIVA. The Stewards noted that the horse was in the betting.

Taking an overall view, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 12th January, 2012 to 31st March, 2012 (both days inclusive) for not permitting his mount VIVA LA DIVA to run on its merits in Race No.71.

RE : INTERFERENCE CAUSED IN RACE NO.90 – THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE TROPHY RUN ON 22ND DECEMBER, 2011 – JOCKEY C.RAJENDRA, RIDER OF “BLUE SKY”:

The  Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 25th December, 2011 interviewed Jockey C.Rajendra in the above connection and having considered the submissions made and having viewed the video recording of the race, the stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him in the subject case. However, the Stewards decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for careless riding and fined him a sum of Rs.10,000/- for not making sufficient efforts to control his mount. In that, near 200 metres, BLUE SKY shifted in and went across EMERGING STAR (M.A.Roushan) who was checked and shifted out to avoid clipping the hind heels of BLUE SKY and in the process caused PALAZZO GRAZIOLI (Stephane Pasquier) to shift out and at the same time GREATNESS (P.Trevor) shifted in and caused PALAZZO GRAZIOLI to shift in and force EMERGING STAR inwards, who in turn caused interference to SUPER HERO (R.Hughes).
