RACE DAY REPORTS
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 2.5 METRES WIDE FROM 1000 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED ABOUT 1.5 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TO 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer N B.Chenoy, permission was granted to Trainer Bezan Chenoy to saddle her charge PORTRUSH in the 6th race, at her (Trainer N B.Chenoy’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (166) THE SUN KING PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9
GERRAD (D.A. Naik) was slow in the stride, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
While entering straight, TORCELLO (S.John) lugged out and in turn caused SPLENDID SECRET (D.S.Rathore) and WALK OF LIFE (Malcolm Kharadi) to travel wide. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
At about 300 metres TORCELLO (S.John) shifted in under the use of the whip and jostled with HONEY BEE (C.S.Jodha). Jockey S.John has been fined 3000/- for improper use of the whip and failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Jockey D.S.Rathore (SPLENDID SECRET) reported loss of whip at about 150 metres from the Winning Post.
Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (WALK OF LIFE) has been cautioned for not maintaining a straight course in the straight.
After the race, TORCELLO & NORTHERN ROCK were found to be sound. NORTHERN ROCK had lost its right hind plate.
RACE NO.2 (167) THE SUN KING PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9
At the start, DIVINE MAJESTY (C.S.Jodha, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and went on LADY BLACK STAR (T.Atul, dr.3) who in turn caused AMORA (Vikram Jodha, dr.2) to shift in, who was awkwardly placed behind the heels of ARISEN STAR (H.G.Rathod) and was checked. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.
ARISEN STAR (H.G.Rathod) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
No enquiry was held into the comparative performance of SUZY WONG since the filly had received interference in her previous run in Race No.141.
After the race, ARISEN STAR, DIVINE MAJESTY and HISHAM were found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (168) THE AGNI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners - 10
At the start, TOWERING HIGH (C.S.Jodha, dr.4) shifted inwards and went on to MUSICAL RHAPSODY (D.S.Rathore, dr.3) who in turn shifted in and jostled with MARUDHARA RATAN (P.S.Chouhan, dr.2). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
At the start, TALENTED (S.P.Ranjane, dr.10) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside. JALSA (J.Pradeep, dr.7) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and went on to GOLDEN HEART (App. Kavraj Singh, dr.6), who had to be checked by its rider.
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, soon after the start, MOMENT TO REMEMBER (Sunny Chinoy, dr.8) shifted in and went onto the rails, due to which GREY PHANTOM (S.John) was checked by its rider and shifted out and in doing so, took the running of JALSA (J.Pradeep) who clipped the hind heels of GREY PHANTOM and stumbled, nearly dislodging the rider. Due to the stumble of JALSA, TOWERING HIGH (C.S.Jodha) was forced to shift out and also carried GOLDEN HEART (App.Kavraj Singh) outwards. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Racing Advisor and the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.
The Stewards after the last race, interviewed Jockey Sunny Chinoy (MOMENT TO REMEMBER) and Jockey S.John (GREY PHANTOM) in the above connection and having heard them and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanations tendered by both the Jockeys and held them guilty of careless riding on their respective mounts. Therefore, the Stewards decided :
a) to suspend the Jockey’s license of Mr.Sunny Chinoy for 10th October, 2010 for Careless Riding. On MOMENT TO REMEMBER (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race);
b) The Stewards noted that Mr.S.John’s Jockey’s license already stands suspended up to 15th October, 2010 by the Mysore Race Club for another offence. Therefore, the Stewards decided to further suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 16th October, 2010 to 17th October, 2010 (both days inclusive) for Careless Riding on GREY PHANTOM (Permitted ro ride work/ Mock race).
TALENTED (S.P.Ranjane) was inclined to lug out throughout the race. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey P.S.Chouhan (MARUDHARA RATAN) reported the loss of whip at about 400 metres.
After the race, GREY PHANTOM was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, TOWERING HIGH was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the filly is not to race for the stipulated period of 8 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, JALSA was found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (169) THE AGNI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres. Runners - 10
At the start, WATCH OUT (Sunny Chinoy) threw her head up.
After the race, WILD IMAGINATION was found to be sound.
RACE NO 5. (170) THE THUNDERING POWER PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres. Runners - 9
At the start, ARABIAN PRIDE (C.S.Jodha) jumped out awkwardly.
Approaching 200 metres, TALK OF THE TOWN (Y.S.Srinath) shifted in under the use of the whip and forced DIVINE (Dashrath Singh) to shift in from its rightful running, who was hampered for a clear run with Jockey Y.S.Srinath making no effort to correct his mount. After travelling some distance, TALK OF THE TOWN (Y.S.Srinath) again shifted in under use of the whip and tightened BELLIGERENT (B.Prakash) on to WILD TORRONAADO, who itself had shifted out a bit. Jockey Y.S.Srinath was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed Jockey Y.S.Srinath and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s License w.e.f. 16th October 2010 to 23rd October 2010 (both days inclusive) and fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/- for Careless Riding on his mount TALK OF THE TOWN (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).
After the race, BELLIGERENT was observed to have lost its left hind plate.
RACE NO.6 (171) THE NIRMAL RUIA GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 9
After the race, BEYOND BELIEF, PORTRUSH, FLAMING ARROW and BLUE DANUBE were found to be sound. BLUE DANUBE had an abrasion on the right hind fetlock.
RACE NO.7 (172) THE RAPHAELA PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres. Runners - 12
Approaching 800 metres, SUAVEMENTE (D.S.Rathore) shifted out and went on to DRAMA QUEEN (Dashrath Singh), who in turn went on to PREMIER CONNECTION (S.N.Chavan) who lost its position. Thereafter, near 500 metres, SUAVEMENTE shifted in and tightened DRAMA QUEEN, who, while being steadied dropped back, due to which SACRED RELIC (D.A.Naik) who was following was hampered and checked and in the process BLAU HIMMEL (T.S.Jodha) who was on the inside of SACRED RELIC was also hampered for a run. Jockey D.S.Rathore has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
After the race, RIGEL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, BORN SPECIAL was observed to have an abrasion on both the hind fetlocks and RIGEL & BLACK PHANTOM were observed to have lost their right hind plate. SUAVEMENTE, PREMIER CONNECTION & PERFECT STRENGTH were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8 (173) THE FOURTH ESTATE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners - 11
STORMETTE (Dashrath Singh) kept an erratic course in the straight.
SUN KISSED (S.N.Chavan) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Trainer Adil Dajee and Jockey Amyn Merchant were questioned regarding the running and riding of LADY GENEREUSE. The instructions to the Jockey were to ride his own race. It was pointed out that the Jockey had not made sufficient effort in the straight thereby not giving the filly the best possible chance in the race. Trainer Adil Dajee stated that this was the horse’s best performance till now and he was satisfied with the Jockey’s riding. Not being satisfied with the explanation of Trainer Adil Dajee and Jockey Amyn Merchant, both have been fined Rs.3000/- .
After the race, STARLIGHT MAGIC, SUN KISSED and GLOWING STAR were found to be sound
RACE NO.9 (174) THE ACCADEMIA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners - 11
At the start, GAME OF POWER (App.D.Akkshay, dr.7) shifted in and went across ZEN (S.Sunil, dr.6) who was steadied. App.D.Akkshay has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Soon after the start, AMARANZA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out, due to which ALOHAMORA (Shrikant Kamble) was tightened and in turn went on to GOLDEN SPURS (S.P.Ranjane) who was awkwardly placed behind the heels of GAME OF POWER (App.D.Akkshay) and was checked. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
ALOHAMORA (Shrikant Kamble) was observed to shift in near 900 metres, due to which TEASE ME (V.Chandrakant) was checked from its rightful running. Thereafter, near 700 metres Jockey Shrikant Kamble allowed ALOHAMORA to shift out, who went on to GOLDEN SPURS (S.P.Ranjane), who in turn inconvenienced YOUNG OFFENDER (Ishwar Pardeshi). Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been reprimanded for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
After the race, AMARANZA was observed to be going short by the left fore leg. The gelding horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SEPIA TONE was observed to have lost her left fore plate. ZEN was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th & 5th race viz. SUZY WONG, DANCING MONEY & TALK OF THE TOWN and the special sample of JALSA, TOWERING HIGH & GREY PHANTOM (3rd race), RIGEL (7th race) and AMARANZA (9th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “FIREMISS” IN RACE NO.153 – THE CAPE KNIGHT PLATE (DIV.II) (1000 METRES) RUN ON SATURDAY, 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2010 :
The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 25th September, 2010 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Trainer Adil Dajee and Jockey C.Chowgule who was accompanied by his Spokesman, Mr.Robert D’Mellow and having heard the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race :-
i) The Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey C.Chowgule and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on his mount FIREMISS in Race No.153. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 10th October, 2010 to 22nd October, 2010 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).
ii) The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Adil Dajee in the subject case and held the view that the Jockey would not have ridden in this manner unless he had the Trainer’s tacit approval. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Trainer’s license w.e.f. 10th October, 2010 to 16th October, 2010 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory running of his charge. Further, he was warned for the future.
