RACE NO.1 – THE BEYOND EXPECTATION PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
THEA’S PET (App.A.S.Peter) swayed its head as the start was given.
At the start, FABIO (App. Niranjan S. Parmar, dr.8) jumped inwards and went across THEA’S PET (App. A. S. Peter, dr.7) who was marginally slow to begin. Thereafter, FABIO further shifted in thereby inconveniencing ZEEMO (App. M. Ayyar, dr.6). App. NIranjan S. Parmar has been cautioned.
Approaching 200 metres, LOVELY FAIRY (Amyn Merchant) shifted out thereby inconveniencing ZEEMO (App. M. Ayyar). Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned.
Passing 100 metres, BOHEMIAN (App. D. R. Shubham) shifted out under urgings and carried LOVELY FAIRY (Amyn Merchant) and ZEEMO (App. M. Ayyar) outwards. App. D. R. Shubham has been cautioned.
After the race, Apprentice A. S. Peter (THEA’S PET) reported that the Handler was holding the horse while the start was given, due to which he lost ground. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into this incident and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, App. Raghuveer Singh (ROMANTIC EYES) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.
After the race, PADMAKOSA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Equine Hospital reported that THEA’S PET had injury in both eyes (Both eyes sore, right eye – corneal ulcer).
After the race, FABIO was trotted and found to be sound
RACE NO.2 – THE BEYOND EXPECTATION PLATE (DIV.I) : (About) 1000 Metres – 10 Runners
ISINIT (App.K.Nazil) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures.
ONE EYED PRINCESS (S.A.Amit) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, CECELIA (Amyn Merchant, dr.2) jumped inwards and made contact with ONE EYED PRINCESS (S. A. Amit, dr.1).
Soon after the stat, ISINIT (App. K. Nazil, dr.3) shifted out on to DREAM TRAIL (S. J. Sunil, dr.4) who had to be steadied. App. K. Nazil has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, SHE’S A TIGER (App. M. Ayyar, dr.6) shifted out and carried GOLDEN ORCHID (H. Zeeshan, dr.7) outwards on to BEE QUIRKY (App. Niranjan S. Parmar, dr.8). At the same time SPEEDO (App. D. R. Shubham, dr.10) shifted in on to MAJESTICAL (App. A. Prakash, dr.9) who in turn shifted in thereby starting a chain reaction, due to which BEE QUIRKY, GOLDEN ORCHID and SHE’S A TIGER were tightened and had to be checked. App.D.R.Shubham has been cautioned.
Approaching 800 metres, App. A. S. Peter (SKYSURFER) was observed to have shifted in under urgings and went across ONE EYED PRINCESS (S. A. Amit) who had to be steadied. App. A. S. Peter has been cautioned.
Approaching 800 metres, DREAM TRAIL (S. J. Sunil) shifted in thereby inconveniencing CECELIA (Amyn Merchant). Jockey S. J. Sunil has been cautioned.
From the 150 metres, App. Niranjan S. Parmar (BEE QUIRKY) was observed to have maintained an erratic course thereby inconveniencing DREAM TRAIL (S. J. Sunil). After questioning, App. Niranjan S. Parmar has been fined Rs.1,000/-.
The Equine Hospital reported that ISINIT had right eye injury (swelling, sore).
RACE NO.3 – THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 7 Runners
At the request of Jockey S Zervan, the saddle on his mount BAKHTWAR was adjusted on arrival at the start.
After the race, EXCELLENT SORRENTO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BAKHTAWAR and DOMINATION were trotted and found to be sound.
The Equine Hospital reported that CORMORANT had right eye injury (small corneal ulcer with mild opacity).
RACE NO.4 – THE GAMBLE FOR LOVE TROPHY : (About) 1200 Metres – 7 Runners
EXCELLENT (C. S. Jodha) was observed to have lugged-in In the final stages of the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (GAZINO) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the horse.
After the race, EXCELLENT and GAZINO were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 – THE SEVERRIANO PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners
DILBAR (S.A.Amit) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At start, SALTBAE (Shrikant Kamble, dr.1) jumped outwards and at the same time DILBAR (S. A. Amit, dr.2) jumped inwards and had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey S. A. Amit reported that his mount was running green throughout the race.
Soon after the start, SHADOWS (Bhawani Singh, dr.5) was inclined outwards thereby inconveniencing DASHING IMAGE (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.6). Jockey Bhawani Singh has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, TURACO (N. S. Parmar, dr.9) was inclined inwards thereby inconveniencing SUPREME BEING (Altaf Sayyed, dr.8) who was marginally slow to begin.
Approaching 800 metres, TURACO (N. S. Parmar) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing QUEENS GATE (P.Trevor) who had to be steadied. On being questioned after the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar stated that his mount was running green despite his efforts to settle her. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, App.K.Nazil (MACAU) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (QUEENS GATE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SUPREME BEING and QUEENS GATE and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, MACAU and QUEENS GATE were trotted and found to be sound. MACAU had an abrasion at the left hock and QUEENS GATE had lost her right hind shoe.
RACE NO.6 – THE D K ASHISH TROPHY : (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners
DANCE SMARTLY (D.A.Naik) was reluctant to be stalled. After being stalled, GOLDEN ERA (Santosh G.) played up and hooked one of his fore leg in the adjoining stall and TURMERIC TOWER (P.Trevor) started leaning in the stall and momentarily tried to duck the front gate. Both the horses were taken out and examined by the Club’s VO who certified them fit to race. Trainers C.Rajendra and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to give their respective charge DANCE SMARTLY and GOLDEN ERA more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
An objection was lodged by App.A.S.Peter, the rider of CIPHER (Placed Second) against TURMERIC TOWER (P.Trevor, placed First). The reason being, TURMERIC POWER shifted in at the 200 metres and bumped his mount and thereafter kept him pocketed whereby his filly lost her stride and he could not ride her out. Thereafter, he pulled the filly out and she covered lot of ground from the outside and the interference had cost him the race.
After considering the submissions made by App.A.S.Peter who was accompanied by Trainer Asad Siddqui as also Jockey P.Trevor, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
The Equine Hospital reported that SACHERTORTE had right eye injury (sore).
RACE NO.7 – THE SEASON OPENER PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – 14 Runners
At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait, TAR HEEL was examined at 1400 hours on 23/07/2019 and found to be trotting sound but had painful swelling on the right fore tendon. The gelding was re-examined at 1830 hours and ultrasound scan revealed lesion on SDFT, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, PHILADELPHIA (N. S. Parmar, dr.1) jumped outwards thereby starting a chain reaction, due to which DIBABA (S. A. Amit, dr.2) shifted out tightening BROTHERSOFTHEWIND (Shrikant Kamble, dr.3) causing it to stumble and also inconveniencing ARABIAN FRIEND (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.4).
Soon after the start, TIMELESS DEEDS (App. A. S. Peter, dr.7) shifted in thereby tightening FENCING (Santosh G., dr.6) who in turn shifted in and brushed the haunches of ANGELS HARMONY (C. S. Jodha, dr.5) due to which ARABIAN FRIEND (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.4) was tightened for room and dropped back. App. A. S. Peter has been severely reprimanded.
After the race, TIMELESS DEEDS was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th, 5th and 7th race, viz. IRON AGE, SALTBAE and HELLS BELLS and the special sample of EXCELLENT SORRENTO (3rd race) and DILBAR (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: PUNISHMENT IMPOSED ON JOCKEY P.S.CHOUHAN – ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF “LORD COMMANDER” IN RACE NO.230 – THE QUEST FOR CASH PLATE – RUN ON THURSDAY, 15TH MARCH, 2018
In the Appeal filed by Jockey P. S. Chouhan in the Hon’ble High Court, Bombay, the Hon’ble Court has substituted the order of the Board of Appeal as under :
(a) The appellant’s (P. S. Chouhan’s) Jockey’s License will now stand suspended with effect from 25th July, 2019 to 24thOctober, 2019.
(b) The period of suspended sentence shall stand substituted as three months instead of six months, but that will take effect after 24th October, 2019.
The Suit and Appeal stand disposed off by this Order of the Hon’ble Court.

RE: APPEAL FROM JOCKEY P.TREVOR AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB CONFIRMING THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS SUSPENDING HIS JOCKEKY’S LICENCE FOR 2 RACE DAYS FOR RIDING AN INCOMPETENT RACE ON “STRONG STORM” IN RACE NO.157 – THE NOBLE OPINION PLATE RUN ON 21ST FEBRUARY, 2019 – WAS GRANTED A STAY UNTIL HIS APPEAL IS HEARD AND DISPOSED OF:
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 24th July, 2019 considered Appeal dated 16th April, 2019 from Jockey P.Trevor in the above connection.
The Board of Appeal studied all documents and papers that were submitted including Jockey P.Trevor’s grounds of appeal and also heard the submissions made by him and viewed the video tape recording of the race in question as also the video recording of Race No.138. The Board of Appeal deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds to the same, decided to reject the appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands. In view of the stay granted to Jockey P.Trevor, his punishment would now come into force on 3rd and 4th August, 2019 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race)

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “LABURNUM” (A.SANDESH, DR.7) IN RACE NO.248 – THE GOODBYE PLATE (DIV.I) (1400 METRES) RUN ON 14TH APRIL, 2019 WHICH THE FILLY WON AS COMPARED TO HER THREE PREVIOUS STARTS DURING THE MUMBAI MEETING 2018/19 WHERE SHE WAS UNPLACED :
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Sanjay Kolse in the above connection. He stated that prior to Race No.248, the filly raced thrice during the Mumbai Meeting 2018/19. In her first run in Race No.90 over 1400 metres, the filly raced in a terms race for horses 4-years-old in strong company and she finished unplaced. In her next run in Race No.138 over 1600 metres in Class-IV (for horses rated 20 to 46) she was ridden by Jockey A.Sandesh and she finished a decent sixth, about 5 ½ lengths from the winner. Thereafter, in her third run, the filly ran in Race No.171 over 1600 metres in Class-V (for horses rated 4 to 30) where she was ridden by Jockey R.Ajinkya and in that race the filly received interference in the straight despite which she finished fifth. He then raced the filly after a gap of 38 days in Race No.248 over 1400 metres and again declared Jockey A.Sandesh and she won the race. Also, there was a change of equipment this time i.e. he discontinued the use of Blinkers and used a Sheep Skin Cheek Piece, which probably helped her.
Having heard the submissions made and considering that the filly had met with interference in her previous start in Race No.171, there was a change of equipment and she raced after a gap of 38 days, no action was initiated against Trainer Sanjay Kolse except warning him to be more careful in the future.
