RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT.

 

On a request from Trainer Shazaan Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Behram Cama to saddle his charges LION KING in the 1st race, RAMBLER in the 3rd race, ESPERANZA in the 6th race, SPIRIT BAY in the 7th race & ELOQUENT in the 8th race at his own (Trainer Shazaan Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Karthik Ganapathy, permission was granted to Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi to saddle his charges REGAL COMMAND in the 2nd race & LORD VADER in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer Karthik Ganapathy’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, permission was granted to Trainer Dallas Todywalla to saddle his charge AWAY SHE GOES in the 8th race, at his own (Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (122) – THE DR. GOOLAM E. VAHANVATI TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 15

 

Soon after the start, MADRAS CHEQUE (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in before the red marker thereby forcing in CHRISTOPHANY (Antony Raj S.) inwards onto YARMOUTH (Amyn Merchant) who was inconvenienced and had to be steadied, thereafter, MADRAS CHEQUE further shifted in thereby tightening the field on the inside due to which LION KING (Santosh G.), DIVINE INTUITION (Prashant P. Dhebe) were tightened for room and had to checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey P. S. Chouhan has been fined Rs.10,000/-.  

 

Jockey M. S. Deora (WINTER AGENDA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 1st offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey P. Vinod (FRIENDS FIRST) reported loss of whip approaching the 350 metres. This being his 1st instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, FRIENDS FIRST was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the colt has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, RUSH & MAZAL were trotted at the stables and found to be sound and STUNNING VISUAL was found to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.2 (123) –  THE MYSTICAL TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

REGAL COMMAND (R. Ajinkya, dr.2) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, REGAL COMMAND (R. Ajinkya, dr.2) jumped out throwing its head up.

 

Passing the 200 metres, it was observed that GIANT KING (Yash Narredu) was running erratic. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (GIANT KING) reported loss of whip passing the 100 metres. This being his 1st instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MULTIVERSE) reported that approaching the 300 metres his reins slipped momentarily.

 

After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (EXUMA) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, REGAL COMMAND was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (124) – THE KUMAR R. DALAL GOLD TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS -  10

 

After the race, Jockey Mustakim Alam (ALPINE STAR) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GEOGRAPHIQUE) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

At the request of Trainer Behram Cama (deputizing Trainer Shazaan Shah), endoscopy was performed on RAMBLER at the Equine Hospital and was diagnosed to have EIPH (Gr. III). As such, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GEOGRAPHIQUE, ARABIAN QUEEN, RAMBLER & ALPINE STAR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (125) – THE INTERVALVE POONAWALLA LTD. TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES –RUNNERS- 14

 

After being loaded, SHAMBALA (Imran Chisty, dr.9) was kicking at the back gate. As such, the colt was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

SHAMBALA (Imran Chisty, dr.9) lost about two lengths at the start.

 

It was observed that DEO VOLENTE (App. Haridas Gore) was running green throughout the race.

 

After the race, SHAMBALA was trotted and found to be sound but was found to have an abrasion above right stifle.

 

After the race, ZARKAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DEO VOLENTE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the filly has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MUMTAZ was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (126) – THE POONAWALLA BREEDERS' MULTI-MILLION  (Grade 1): (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

SUPERLUMINAL (Neeraj Rawal, dr.8) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, STORM CLOUD (Mustakim Alam, dr.4) jumped outwards and went across JADE (C.Umesh, dr.5) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 200 metres, REDEFINED (Vivek G.) shifted out and went across JADE (C. Umesh) causing the latter to be steadied, thereafter passing the 100 metres, JADE shifted in thereby inconveniencing REDEFINED causing the latter to checked. Jockeys C. Umesh and Vivek G. have been cautioned.

 

It was observed that THALASSA (C. S. Jodha) was inclined outwards in the straight, despite the rider’s efforts. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DASH & SUPERLUMINAL were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (127) – THE FLORRIE & FREDDY SOPHER GOLD TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

At the request of Trainer S. K. Sunderji, endoscopy was performed on DREAM SELLER at the Equine Hospital and was diagnosed to have EIPH (Gr. III). As such, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, ESPERANZA (P. Vinod, dr.3) jumped outwards onto MAJESTIC WARRIOR (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.4) forcing it outwards onto LORD VADER (App. Haridas Gore, dr.5) causing both the horses to be steadied. Jockey P. Vinod has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 300 metres, ESPERANZA (P. Vinod) shifted out under use of the whip and went across FIGHTON (N. S. Parmar) and DREAM SELLER (R. Ajinkya) thereby inconveniencing both  the horses who had to check and change course. The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, FIGHTON was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (128) –  THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

At the start, DASHMESH DANCER (P. Vinod) jumped outwards and went across FANTASTIC FLARE (App. S. Saba) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

Approaching the 300 metres, it was observed that ARIYANA STAR (Neeraj Rawal) was momentarily held up for room and had to check and change course.

 

After the race, SONIC BOOM & ARIYANA STAR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (129) –  THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, HOUSE OF LORDS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 05.20 p.m. on 22nd February 2024 at the stables and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the request of Jockey K. Nazil (TYRONE BLACK) his mount was examined at the starting gates by Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

After the race, Jockey R.Ajinkya (TOSCANA) reported that passing the 500 metres, his reins slipped momentarily.

 

After the race, TYRONE BLACK was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the gelding has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, AWAY SHE GOES was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, COIN EMPRESS & TOSCANA were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 4th, 6th & 7th race, viz. WINTER AGENDA, RAISE THE STAKES, REMINISCENCE & STREET SENSE, and the special samples of ZARKAN & MUMTAZ (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine & blood samples of the EXCELLENT LASS (Winner – 5th race), FLIGHT ON (2nd place – 5th race) & (FIELD OF DREAMS (3rd place – 5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
