RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT THE ORIGINAL POINT.
RACE NO.1 (35) – THE ASTONISH TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS – 5
MIDAS TOUCH (Bhawani Singh, dr.2) took a fly jump at the start.
It was observed that GIMME (T. S. Jodha) was hanging out in the straight despite the riders efforts. Trainer S. S. Shah has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
Jockey Bhawani Singh (MIDAS TOUCH) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, GIMME was trotted and was found to be sound.
After the race, LEO THE LION was found to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.
RACE NO.2 (36) – THE NAWABZADA RASHIDUZZAFAR KHAN TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS – 8
JUSTINO (Neeraj Rawal, dr.5) planted and did not raise an effective gallop thereby losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to show to his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
After the race, DES MARQUIS was trotted and was found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (37) – THE GULAMHUSEIN ESSAJI TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS – 12
HOOVES OF THUNDER (Vishal N. Bunde, dr.8) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
FASHON ICON (P. Trevor, dr.12) stumbled as the start was effected.
After the race, INDIA STRONG was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, WILLY WONKAA was found to have an injuries on both its hind pasterns.
After the race, THE GENERAL was trotted and was found to be sound.
After the race, WILD HAMMER was trotted and was found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (38) – THE FAIZ JASDANWALLA TROPHY – DIV I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 13
OVER THE LINE (R .Ajinkya) was brought in the paddock sporting the wrong number cloth, as such, the horse was taken back into the saddling enclosure and the Jockey was made to weigh out once again with the right number cloth. In view of their lapse, Jockey R. Ajinkya and Trainer S. K. Sunderji have been fined Rs.3,000/- each.
Approaching the 600 metres, ETOILE (App. Haridas Gore) racing on the haunches of OVER THE LINE (R. Ajinkya) was observed to have clipped the latter and stumbled. After the race, Trainer Bezan Chenoy expressed his dissatisfaction with regards to the riding of App. Haridas Gore, as such, the Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the riding of the filly and a report will be submitted shortly.
Approaching the 200 metres, ROLL THE DICE (J. Chinoy) shifted out under urgings thereby tightening OVER THE LINE (R. Ajinkya) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey J. Chinoy has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (ART COLLECTOR) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, SENORITA D was trotted and was found to be sound but was observed to have lost its left hind shoe.
After the race, OVER THE LINE was trotted and was found to be sound but was found to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.
After the race, CALIPH was observed to have lost its right fore shoe.
RACE NO.5 (39) – THE K.M. MUNSHI TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11
Soon after the start, EMPEROR RODERIC (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out thereby bumping and forcing RAMBLER outwards onto BUCKLEY (Dashrath Singh) who had to be steadied. Jockey P. S. Chouhan has been cautioned.
Approaching the 300 meters, PRIDE’S ANGEL (Y. S. Srinath) leaned outwards at the same time BUCKLEY (Dashrath Singh) leaned inwards thereby tightening FORTUNATE SON (Prashant P. Dhebe) racing between them who had to be steadied, thereafter, BUCKLEY (Dashrath Singh) shifted in and went across FORTUNATE SON and PRIDE’S ANGEL. On being questioned, Jockey Dashrath Singh reported that his mount hung-in, despite his efforts, as such, Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey Y. S. Srinath (PRIDE’S ANGEL) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan (EMPEROR RODERIC) reported that his mount was hanging out throughout the race despite his efforts and stated that his mount was not striding out freely. As such, the colt was subjected to veterinary examination. Subsequently, Sr. V.O. reported that EMPEROR RODERIC was examined at the stables on 25th December 2023 and was found to be sore by its left fore, as such, the colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, PYRRHUS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by its left hind, as such, the filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, PRIDE’S ANGEL was trotted and was found to be sound.
RACE NO.6 (40) – THE HPSL INDIAN 2000 GUINEAS (GRADE 1): (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS – 9
BELIEVE (Imran Chisty, dr.2) swayed his head as the start was effected thereby losing about two lengths at the start.
DREAM ALLIANCE (Y. S. Srinath, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly and had to be steadied.
RACE NO.7 (41) – THE FAIZ JASDANWALLA TROPHY – DIV.II : (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS – 13
CONTSABLE (App. Kirtish Bhagat, dr.4) lost about two lengths at the start.
RICOCHET (T. S. Jodha, dr.5) stumbled as the start was effected.
Approaching the 300 metres, ARIYANA STAR (P. Vinod) shifted out under the use of whip thereby carrying IMPULSIVE (S. G. Prasad) outwards due to which OPERATION FINALE (R. Ajinkya) racing on its haunches was tightened and inconvenienced and had to be checked. Thereafter, ARIYANA STAR further shifted out carrying CYRENAICA (J. Chinoy) and CONSTABLE (App. Kirtish Bhagat) outwards. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey P. Vinod has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
It was observed that MADRAS CHEQUE (H. M. Akshay) was inclined outwards in the final stages of the race, despite the rider’s efforts. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, SHE’S A TEASER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, CONSTABLE was trotted and was found to be sound.
RACE NO.8 (42) – THE CASTLEBRIDGE TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS – 10
MARIELLA (H. Zeeshan, dr.6) jumped out awkwardly and had to be steadied.
After the race, MOMENT OF MADNESS was trotted and was found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st & 7th race, , viz. MIDAS TOUCH & MADRAS CHEQUE, and the special samples of DES MARQUIS (2nd race) & EMPEROR RODERIC (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
The urine and blood samples of DES MARQUIS (2nd race), SYNTHESIS (Winner – 6th race), ENABLER (2nd place – 6th race) & CHRISTOFLE (3rd place – 6th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORT:
RE: MOCK RACE HELD ON 24TH DECEMBER 2023:
It was observed that the saddle used on SOUP AND SANDWICH (P.Vinod) shifted forward during the mock race. This being the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.2,000/-
RE: TRACKWORK HELD ON 21ST DECEMBER 2023:
SUNBURST was observed to have broken a blood vessel during morning track work on 21st December, 2023 and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O before next accepting to race.
