RACE NO.1(10) –THE BEJAN BHARUCHA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 9
At the start, SMOKY HAZE (S. S. Baria) veered outwards thereby losing considerable ground. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures and show the mare in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.
At the start, SAMURAI (App. K. Pranil, dr.8) jumped outwards on to ROMANTIC EYES (Dashrath Singh, dr.9) forcing it outwards.
Approaching the 600 metres, due to a tightly packed field SUPER STRENGTH (N. S. Parmar) was held up for room.
Approaching the 300 metres, BOHEMIAN (App. A. S. Peter) shifted in due to which CRAY CRAY (H. Zeeshan) who was racing on its haunches, had to be checked and dropped back. After questioning, App. A. S. Peter has been suspended for one race day, i.e. 15th December, 2019 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
The Sr. V.O. reported that SUPER STRENGTH (N. S. Parmar) fell down after crossing the winning post. The gelding was bleeding from both the nostrils. On examination, it was found that the gelding had fractured its right shoulder. With the consent of the Trainer, the gelding was euthanized on humane grounds.
RACE NO.2(11) – THE M.D.PETIT PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 11
Approaching the 1400 metres, ZEEMO (Amyn Merchant) shifted in and went across TENACIOUS (S. Zervan), causing the latter to be checked and stumble. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Passing the 900 metres, due to a tightly packed field CHEZZA (App. A. S. Peter) was observed to have jostled with RUN HAPPY (S. S. Baria) and TENACIOUS (S. Zervan).
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GOLD MAGIC) reported that in the final stages of the race his mount ducked inwards sharply and as such he had to stop riding in order to steady his mount.
After the race, GOLD MAGIC was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Sr. V.O. reported that DONT MESS WITH ME was examined at the stables in the morning on 25/11/2019 and found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.3(12) – THE SECRET STAR PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9
In the process of stalling, TRANSFORM (P. S. Chouhan) brushed the rear gate, as such, the gate got partially closed. The mare was taken out and was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race.
At the start, TRANSFORM (P. S. Chouhan, dr. 6) jumped inwards and made contact with KILDARE (A. Sandesh, dr. 5) who in turn shifted in on to SANDMAN (Neeraj Rawal, dr. 4) causing the latter to be checked.
After the race, the bit used on LUMINOSITY (App. D. R. Shubham) was observed to have been displaced to one side. Trainer H. J. Antia has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for the faulty application of equipment on his charge.
App. D. R. Shubham (LUMINOSITY) has been fined Rs. 500/- for failing to wear his goggles during the race.
On being questioned after the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (SANDMAN) stated that passing the 700 metres, the front runners weakened and dropped back, as such, he shifted out due to which his mount swung out wide.
RACE NO.4(13) – THE MASTER SHIFU PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners- 9
On arrival at the start, ENID BLYTON (Neeraj Rawal) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified the filly fit to race.
After being stalled, RAINBOW TROUT (A. Sandesh) rushed the front gates. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race.
GOSHAWK (App. K. Pranil) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and to show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, FLEUR DE LYS (P. S. Chouhan, dr. 1) jumped outwards onto MAJESTIC WARRIOR (Dashrath Singh, dr. 2) who in turn shifted out inconveniencing ZANZIBAAR (App. A. Prakash, dr. 3).
Passing the 800 metres, ZANZIBAAR (App. A. Prakash) shifted in thereby tightening GOSHAWK (App. K. Pranil) along the rails. App. A. Prakash has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (ENID BLYTON) reported that passing the 400 metres he was held up for room and had to change course.
After the race, ZANZIBAAR was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind heel. FLEUR DE LYS and ENID BLYTON were found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.5(14) – THE KIARA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 9
At the start, SEVENTH STAR (App. H. Zeeshan, dr. 5) jumped inwards and made contact with ROYALTY (S. Zervan, dr. 4).
In the final stages of the race, RECALL OF YOU (A. Sandesh) was observed to have shifted out despite which Jockey A. Sandesh persisted with the whip from the right and failed to take corrective measures. After questioning, Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
SEVENTH STAR (App. H. Zeeshan) was observed to have hung-in in the straight.
After the race, App. K. Nazil (RISING SUN) reported that his mount was running green.
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (VIRASAT) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight.
RACE NO.6(15) – THE A.CAMPBELL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 7
App. A. S. Peter (QUEEN CREDIBLE) reported the loss of whip approaching the 150 metres. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, PURE ZINC, MISSING YOU and QUEEN CREDIBLE were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(16) – THE K.J.K. IRANI PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 10
GOLDEN GUEST (David Egan) was observed to have maintained an erratic course in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, CHAPLIN was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(17) – THE BEJAN BHARUCHA PLATE(DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 10
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, passing the 200 metres, Jockey Akshay Gaikwad (ANGELS HARMONY) was observed to have lost his whip. Thereafter, ANGELS HARMONY shifted out under urgings and made contact with ETERNAL DANCER (Kishore Kadam) due to which Jockey Akshay Gaikwad lost his balance and was dislodged. After considering the submissions made by Jockey Kishore Kadam, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge.
In the above connection, the Stewards directed the Stipendiary Stewards to take action as they deem fit against Jockey Akshay Gaikwad for careless riding on his mount ANGELS HARMONY. The Stipendiary Stewards will be enquiring into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.
Approaching 400 metres, ADAMS BEGINNING (Santosh G.) shifted out under urgings onto GLORIANA (Neeraj Rawal) forcing it outwards, due to which the filly went across ONE EYED PRINCESS (App. P. Shinde) who had to be checked. After questioning all concerned, Jockey Santosh G. has been suspended for one race day i.e. 21st December, 2019.
In the final stages of the race, ROYAL ACE (App. A. S. Peter) shifted out under the use of whip and went across ADAMS BEGINNING (Santosh G.) who had to be checked. After questioning, App. A. S. Peter has been fined Rs. 3,000/-
After the race, GLORIANA was trotted and found to be sound.
The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th race, viz. MAESTRO, NOTORIETY, SUNRISE RUBY and RECALL OF YOU, and the special sample of GOLD MAGIC (2nd race), ENID BLYTON (4th race) and MISSING YOU (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:
RE : MOCK RACE HELD AFTER THE RACES ON 24th NOVEMBER, 2019:
Trainer Vinesh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for not producing the registered Racing Colours in respect of his charge HOLLYWOOD PARK. The filly ran in the Mock Race sporting emergency colours i.e. “ALL BLACK”.

RE : ENDOSCOPY REPORT IN RESPECT OF “FREE GOLD” :
The Club’s Sr. V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, FREE GOLD was scoped at the Club’s Equine Hospital on 6th November, 2019 and found to have Gr.III EIPH. The filly is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

RE : RACE NO.9 – THE ASTRAL FLASH PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 17th NOVEMBER, 2019 :
Trainer Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late declaration in respect of his charge SO SPLENDID.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE INVOLVEMENT OF MR. VISHAL N. BUNDE IN BETTING / PASSING ON STABLE INFORMATION/TIPS TO HIS ACQUAINTANCE FOR PERSONAL GAIN:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 25th October, 2019 interviewed Mr. Vishal N. Bunde who was accompanied by his Spokesman, Mr. S. Zervan, in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club having heard Mr. Vishal N. Bunde/his Spokesman as also the Stipendiary Stewards, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Mr. Vishal N. Bunde and held him guilty of improper practice under Rule-101 (iii) & (iv) of the Rules of Racing of the Club wherein he confirmed before the Stipendiary Stewards and also before the Stewards of the Club that it was his voice on the audio recording and admitted having passed racing information/tips to his acquaintance for monetary gains. He assured the Stewards that he would refrain from similar activities in the future and pleaded for leniency. The Stewards also considered his past record.
In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club were of the view that the above breach of Rule-101 (iii) & (iv) of the Rules of Racing warranted a punishment of twelve calendar months. However, the Stewards took into consideration that he was already out of saddle since the beginning of the Pune Meeting 2019 i.e. 17th July, 2019 and therefore, they decided not to grant him an Apprentice Jockey’s licence under the Rules of Racing of this Club up to and inclusive of 16th July, 2020.
Mr. Vishal N. Bunde was informed that during the period of his punishment:-
a) He is not permitted to ride work;
b) He is not permitted to attend racing, on course or off course.
c) All other disabilities applicable to a person suspended/disqualified shall apply to him.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE VET EXAMINATION OF 4-YEAR-OLD B F “ORIANA” – TRAINED BY MR. M. NARREDU
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 17th November, 2019 interviewed Dr. Prashant Wandhare and Trainer M. Narredu in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club considered all papers and proceedings before them including Dr. Prashant Wandhare’s reply to the Show Cause as also the article submitted by him at the meeting “Re : The Risk of Rectal Palpation in Horses”. The Stewards also viewed the video of the rectal examination carried out by Dr.Prashant Wandhare on b f ORIANA. Having heard the submissions made by him as also by Trainer M. Narredu, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Dr. Prashant Wandhare and held him guilty of being careless in the discharge of his duties as a Veterinarian. In that, the video recording of rectal examination of ORIANA revealed that after the rectal examination, there was blood on the gloves which he failed to notice which probably prevented timely treatment of the filly. Further, he submitted an article before the Stewards to establish that there is a potential risk involved in a rectal examination and therefore, as an experienced Veterinarian, he should have been extra careful to ensure that everything was perfect after the rectal examination, which he failed to do. Therefore, the Stewards of the Club decided:-
a) To fine him a sum of Rs.50,000/- for being careless in the discharge of his duties as a Vet;
b) To impose on him a suspended sentence of 15 Calendar Days over the next five years i.e. if he was found guilty of a similar offence within the next five years commencing from 18th November, 2019, then the aforesaid suspended sentence of 15 days would immediately come into force and effect and which aforesaid punishment would be in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him for any subsequent act of his as regards the aforesaid. He was told that any acts of carelessness in the discharge of his duties as a Veterinarian in the future, will be severely dealt with by the Stewards.
2. The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer M. Narredu and held him guilty of being careless in the discharge of his duties as a Trainer. In that, he was solely responsible for the safety and care of the horses in his charge and after the rectal examination was carried out by Dr. Prashant Wandhare, he was duty bound to check the filly to ensure that everything was okay with her, which he failed to do whereby the filly was deprived timely treatment which may have saved her life. Therefore, the Stewards of the Club decided to fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/- for being careless in the discharge of his duties as a Trainer.
