RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1200 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 900 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 600 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5.5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

RACE NO.1(47) – THE RAJARAM CHHATRAPATI TROPHY : (About) 1800 Metres – 5 Runners
An enquiry has been initiated into the improved performance of IN IT TO WIN IT and a report will be submitted shortly.
The Equine Hospital reported that MOMENTUM had right eye injury (mild corneal opacity and ulcer in the right eye) and ZENON had left eye injury (sore).
After the race, MOMENTUM and VALEGRO were trotted and found to be sound. MOMENTUM had a gum injury.
RACE NO.2(48) – THE SEA RULER PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 8 Runners
At the request of Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed, ANTARCTICA was examined at 1800 hours on 23/08/2019 and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
STEPPENWOLF (Yash Narredu) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Passing the 100 metres, BARACK (App.P.S.Kaviraj) shifted out under pressure and carried NIGHT HUNT (Akshay) outwards, who in turn went across PLEIADES (App.S.A.Amit) who had to be steadied. After questioning, App. P. S. Kaviraj has been reprimanded.
The Equine Hospital reported that PLEIADES had left eye injury (sore).
After the race, STEPPENWOLF was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock joint. NIGHT HUNT was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.3(49) – THE MAYOR’S TROPHY : (About) 1800 Metres – 8 Runners
Soon after the start, TURACO (A. Sandesh, dr.5) shifted in and went across ARROWHEAD (N. S. Parmar, dr.3) causing the latter to be checked and change course. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
Passing the 600 Metres, ARROWHEAD (N. S. Parmar) was observed to have weakened and dropped back and thereafter maintained an erratic course thereby tightening and inconveniencing TURACO (A.Sandesh) and ELATION (P.Trevor) causing both horses to be checked. On being questioned after the race, Jockey N.S.Parmar stated that his mount was erratic despite his efforts. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (BLACK CHERRY) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Jockey S. Zervan (SILVER KING) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount . This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
The Equine Hospital reported that POLARIS had left eye injury (sore).
After the race, BLACK CHERRY was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(50) – THE SECRET ROMEO PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 13 Runners
Soon after the start, CRAY CRAY (Akshay, dr.9) shifted in under urgings on to ARABIAN MUKTAR (Amyn Merchant, dr.5) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening SAMURAI (App.K.Pranil, dr.4) who in turn shifted in and made contact with ISINIT (App. A. S. Peter, dr.3). Due to this incident, SAMURAI (App. K. Pranil) had to be checked. Thereafter, ETERNAL DANCER (N. S. Parmar, dr.2) shifted out thereby tightening the field on its outside, due to which ISINIT and ARABIAN MUKTAR had to be checked and dropped back. After questioning all concerned, Jockey Akshay and Jockey N. S. Parmar have been suspended for 14th September, 2019 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
Approaching the 1000 metres, MACGYVER (J. Chinoy) shifted out under urgings and bumped ETERNAL DANCER (N. S. Parmar) thereby starting a chain reaction, due to which CRAY CRAY (Akshay) and WABI SABI (Santosh G.) were inconvenienced and OUTSTANDING (App. Raghuveer Singh) had to be checked. After questioning, Jockey J. Chinoy has been suspended for 14th September, 2019 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
Passing the 400 metres, ISINIT (App. A. S. Peter) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening LILIBETH (Dashrath Singh) along the rails and forcing the latter to be checked and drop back. After questioning, App. A. S. Peter has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (ETERNAL DANCER) reported that he was denied a clear passage in final stages of the race and hence could not ride out his mount to its complete advantage.
After the race, ISINIT was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind cannon. SAMURAI was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.5(51) – THE F.D.WADIA TROPHY (GR.3) : (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
PRINCESS ANNABEL (Bhawani Singh) was reluctant to be stalled. QUEENS GATE (Dashrath Singh) was restless in the stall and not allowing its rider to settle. Trainers Altamaash A.Ahmed and P.Shroff have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
KILDARE (C.S.Jodha) took an awkward fly jump.
At the start, QUEENS GATE (Dashrath Singh, dr.1) jumped outwards and went across KILDARE (C. S. Jodha, dr.2) who was marginally slow to begin
After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (STORM BREAKER) reported the loss of whip passing the 150 metres. On questioning, Jockey Yash Narredu stated that his mount was hanging in due to which he used the whip from the right as a corrective measure. However, whilst using the whip, it came in contact with the railing and fell. This being his first instance during the current Pune Meeting, no action has been initiated. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Rounding the final turn, PRINCESS ANNABEL (Bhawani Singh) shifted out under urgings thereby carrying KILDARE (C. S. Jodha) and TROUVAILLE (A. Sandesh) outwards. Jockey Bhawani Singh has been cautioned..
After the race, PRINCESS ANNABEL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, QUEENS GATE and TROUVAILLE were trotted and found to be sound. QUEENS GATE had an abrasion at the right hind fetlock.
RACE NO.6(52) – THE WAVES OF GLORY PLATE : (About) 1400 Metres – 14 Runners
Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to declare his charge SASSY LASS in this race after having accepted with the mare.
Passing the 450 metres, TIMELESS DEEDS (Dashrath Singh) was observed to have lost its footing thereby dislodging the rider.
After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (ODESSA) informed that he was denied a clear passage in the straight as such he could not ride his mount out to its complete advantage.
After the race, TIMELESS DEEDS was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. GOSHAWK, HIGHLAND PRINCESS and HARMONY OF THE SEA were found to be sound in the trot.

The urine samples of the winner of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th race, viz. SILVER KING, EBONY, GOLDEN GUEST and QUESTIONABLE, as also that of MZILIKAZI (5th race), and the special sample of TROUVAILLE (5th race) and HARMONY OF THE SEA (6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.45 – THE UNFORGETTABLE YOU PLATE RUN ON 16TH AUGUST, 2019 :
The Equine Hospital reported that TUDOR HALL had right eye injury (corneal ulcer).

RE : APPEAL FROM APP.P.S.KAVIRAJ AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS SUSPENDING HIS LICENCE W.E.F. 31/08/2019 TO 01/09/2019 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON “GODSWORD” IN RACE NO.33 – THE TRUE ELEGANCE PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 15TH AUGUST, 2019 :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 24th August, 2019 considered appeal dated 20th August, 2019 from App.P.S.Kaviraj in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club considered all papers, documents and proceedings and having heard App.P.S.Kaviraj and his Spokesman, Mr.Narendra Lagad, having viewed the video recording of the race and having deliberated the matter, decided to reject the appeal.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH ON “MAJESTIC WARRIOR” IN RACE NO.224 – THE AHMED I.RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY (DIV.I) RUN ON 6TH APRIL, 2019 :
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that immediately after the race Trainer Narendra Lagad had lodged a verbal complaint that he was unhappy with the riding of Jockey Dashrath Singh on MAJESTIC WARRIOR.
Due to the off-season and non availability of Jockey Dashrath Singh, the enquiry could not be completed earlier. Thereafter, the enquiry had to be postponed twice since Jockey Dashrath Singh was riding at Kolkotta.
Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey Dashrath Singh were subsequently questioned on 31st July, 2019 in the above connection.
Trainer Narendra Lagad confirmed that immediately after the race he had lodged a verbal complaint that he was not satisfied with the riding of Jockey Dashrath Singh on MAJESTIC WARRIOR in Race No.224. He said that this was just the second run of the horse in Race No.224 and subsequently having watched the race again he had observed that the horse was hanging out in the straight and Jockey Dashrath Singh had explained to him that the horse had reacted to the whip and hung out. He said that subsequently he has started using Blinkers on the horse during track work and the horse showed improvement and considering this, he would like to give Jockey Dashrath Singh the benefit of the doubt in this case.
Jockey Dashrath Singh said that coming into the straight he used the whip 2 or 3 times from the right and the horse started shifting out under pressure, therefore, he immediately put his whip away, collected the horse, brought him on an even keel and got into him but when he again used the whip, the horse shied away not giving him sufficient time to react. Jockey Dashrath Singh reiterated that he had done his best.
Having heard the submissions made by the Trainer and Jockey and having viewed the video recording of the race, it was pointed to Jockey Dashrath Singh that whilst he himself admitted that the horse shifted out after the first 2/3 cracks of the whip on the right, as a corrective measure, he should have immediately changed his whip hand. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh, he has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to change his whip hand despite his mount shifting out.
