RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 6 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES  AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Shazaan Shah to saddle his charge LOCARNO in the 2nd race, at his own (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.  Subsequently, Tr. Shazaan Shah submitted a letter stating that due to death in the family he had to leave for Bangalore and with the concent of Tr. Mansoor Shah requested permission for Tr. Sangramsinh N.Joshi to saddle LOCARNO at Trainer Mansoor Shah’s risk and responsibility. The said permission was granted.

On a request from Trainer Subhag Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Zadmal Singh to saddle his charge HIGHLAND PRINCESS in the 2nd race, at his own (Trainer Subhag Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(204) –THE  TULIPA PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners -  8

 

At the start, GDANSK (P. S. Chouhan, dr.3) jumped outwards thereby forcing BABY FACE (S. S. Baria, dr.4) outwards on to ITS A DEAL (Amyn Merchant, dr.5).

 

Soon after the start, BENEVOLENCE (A. Sandesh) shifted in and went across LUCKY LUCIANO (P. Trevor) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Approaching 600 metres, BABY FACE (S. S. Baria) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing GDANSK (P. S. Chouhan). Thereafter, GDANSK shifted out thereby forcing BABY FACE outwards, who in turn shifted out and made contact with ITS A DEAL (Amyn Merchant). After questioning all concerned, Jockeys P. S. Chouhan and S. S. Baria have been cautioned.

 

Approaching 100 metres, BENEVOLENCE (A. Sandesh) shifted out under urgings and bumped BRAZOS (App. Vishal N. Bunde) thereby forcing it outwards. Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, BENEVOLENCE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(205) –THE T.M.GOCULDAS PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  8

 

From the 300 metres, UNTITLED (Hanumant Singh) was observed to have drifted out and carried GOLD FIELD (P. Trevor) and RISING BRAVE (Shahrukh Khan) outwards. Trainer H. J. Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (SAFDAR) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, UNTITLED was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SAFDAR, LOIRE and LOCARNO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(206) –THE R.M. & RUKMANI GOCULDAS MILLION:   (About) 1400 Metres – Runners  5 – NO REPORT

 

RACE NO.4(207) –THE PRONTO PRONTO PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  9

 

On arrival at the start, BESHIKTASH (App.R.Ajinkya) was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified the gelding fit to race.

At the start, WILD FIRE (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr.6) jumped outwards and at the same time DOUBLE NINE (P. S. Chouhan, dr.8) jumped inwards thereby tightening FLAMING MARTINI (A. Sandesh, dr.7) drawn between them.

 

Soon after the start, BESHIKTASH (App. R. Ajinkya) shifted out thereby forcing EXCELLENT GOLD (P. Trevor) outwards on to CHARGING TIGRESS (App. Malam Singh). Thereafter, AWESOME ONE (App.Yash Narredu) shifted in under urgings and went across CHARGING TIGRESS, causing the latter to clip and stumble. After questioning, App.Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Passing 350 metres, EXCELLENT GOLD (P. Trevor) shifted out thereby tightening and inconveniencing DOUBLE NINE (P. S. Chouhan). After questioning, Jockey P. Trevor has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

RACE NO.5(208) –THE  KARL UMRIGAR TROPHY:  (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  9

 

On arrival at the start, SUNRISE RUBY (N.S.Parmar) was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified the filly fit to race.

 

At the start, PRINCIPESSA (Dashrath Singh, dr.8) jumped inwards and went across SUNSET (S. Zervan, dr.7) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Passing 550 metres, DUMAS (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out on to SUNSET (S. Zervan) forcing it outwards. After questioning, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

Passing 150 metres, CLIFFS OF CAPRI (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby tightening SUNRISE RUBY (N. S. Parmar) who had to be steadied. Jockey P. Trevor has been cautioned.

 

After the race, DUMAS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(209) – THE  ABEETA PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  11

 

Soon after the start, FALCONETTE (App. P. S. Kaviraj) shifted in thereby tightening EPIPHANY (P. Trevor) and JULIO CESARO (Dashrath Singh). App. P. S. Kaviraj has been cautioned.

 

Soon after the start, CEZANNE (Bhawani Singh) shifted out and made contact with SPEEDO (App. D. R. Shubham).

 

Approaching 200 metres, CEZANNE (Bhawani Singh) shifted out under urgings and went across FALCONETTE (App. P. S. Kaviraj) who had to be steadied. Jockey Bhawani Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/- for persisting with the use of whip from the right despite his mount shifting out.

 

After the race, Apprentice M.Ayyar (GODSWORD) reported the loss of whip passing the 250 metres. This being his second instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th  race  viz. ROGUE ONE, BATELEUR, AWESOME ONE and KILDARE, and the special sample of UNTITLED (2nd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER ALTAF HUSSAIN AGAINST THE FINE OF RS.20,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS FOR THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “ANGELS HARMONY” IN RACE NO.163 WHICH THE MARE WON AS COMPARED TO HER PREVIOUS RUNS DURING THE CURRENT MUMBAI MEETING :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 24th March, 2019 interviewed Trainer Altaf Hussain and his Spokesman, Mr.Narendra Lagad, in the above connection.

 

The Stewards of the Club considered all papers and proceedings before them and having heard Trainer Altaf Hussain and his Spokesman and having deliberated the matter, decided to partially allow the appeal and reduced the fine to Rs.10,000/-..
