RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.
RACE NO.1(93) –THE TOROLOCO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10
WAR OF ATTRITION (H. Zeeshan) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.
At the start, BIG BEN (N. S. Parmar, dr. 9) jumped out awkwardly throwing its head.
At the start, IN CONTENTION (P. Trevor, dr. 2) jumped outwards on to PATRIOTS DAY (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr. 3). At the same time, SHE IS ON FIRE (Santosh G., dr. 4) jumped inwards, going across PATRIOTS DAY and on to IN CONTENTION, causing both the horses to be steadied.
SPRINGBOK (App. Aniket Karande) was observed to have trailed the field. As such, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to ensure that his charge runs with the field next time out.
After the race, Jockey Santosh G. (SHE IS ON FIRE) reported that the Tongue Strap used on his mount had fallen during the race. As such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for faulty application of equipment on his charge.
RACE NO.2(94) –THE GREAT INVESTMENT PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12
AIRA (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.
Passing the 200 metres, FLASH FORCE (App. A. S. Peter) shifted in under the use of whip and had to be steadied. App. A. S. Peter has been cautioned.
After the race, SOVEREIGN STAR was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind fetlock and BLUE BLOOD had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. FLASH FORCE was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.3(95) –THE AROMA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners- 6
At the request of Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed, ANTARCTICA was examined at 0815 hours on 23/01/2021 and found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
NOTORIETY (P. S. Chouhan) was restless in its stall. The mare was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V. O. who certified her fit to race.
SANDMAN (P. Trevor) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.
After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (SANDMAN) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, SANDMAN was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(96) –THE EMPERADO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 14
MIGHTY WARRIOR (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.
At the start, CARLOS (H. Zeeshan, dr. 12) jumped inwards and made contact with STICK TO THE PLAN (N. B. Kuldeep, dr. 11) who had to be steadied.
Soon after the start, ISINIT (Amyn Merchant) shifted in under urgings and bumped EXOTIC QUEEN (App. Aniket Karande) who had to be steadied. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.
Passing the 300 metres, JULIO CESARO (App. A. S. Peter) shifted out due to which CARLOS (H. Zeeshan), who was racing on its haunches shied outwards onto MIGHTY WARRIOR (Bhawani Singh). App. A. S. Peter has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey Amyn Merchant (ISINIT) reported that approaching the 200 metres, the whip of Jockey Santosh G. (LADY LANETTE) struck his whip, due to which he lost his whip.
After the race, JULIO CESARO was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, LADY LANETTE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, SAFDAR and LADY LANETTE were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(97) –THE TOROLOCO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10
On arrival at the start, CORUS (Vishal N. Bunde) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to be sore from the right hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
NAXOS (App. P. S. Kaviraj) planted in the stall and took no part in the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.
SOLDIER OF FORTUNE (Amyn Merchant) and MAGICAL JOURNEY (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths each at the start.
Passing the 200 metres, SPANISH CITY (M. Ayyar) shifted in under the use of whip thereby tightening ARRECIFE (App. A. S. Peter) along the rails forcing it to be checked and change course. Jockey M. Ayyar has been fined Rs. 2,000/-.
After the race, BRIANNA was observed to have a loose tooth.
RACE NO.6(98) –THE SMASHER PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 12
DAGGER’S STRIKE (K. Nazil) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. on arrival at the start and was certified fit to race.
SOCRATES (P. Trevor) refused to be stalled despite multiple attempts, as such, the colt was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 400 metres, HISTORIAN (Vishal N. Bunde) racing between CABO DA ROCA (Dashrath Singh) and SUMMER NIGHT (A. Sandesh) was tightened for room and had to be dropped back.
Passing the 300 metres, IRINA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out carrying DAGGER’S STRIKE (K. Nazil) outwards. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been severely reprimanded.
After the race, IRINA was observed to have a gum injury.
RACE NO.7(99) –THE CAMPANERO PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12
On the way to the start, CAPRIFLA (Dashrath Singh) dislodged the rider and bolted thus delaying the start. Considering that CAPRIFLA had already run half the course, the horse was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures.
Passing the 150 metres, EXECUTIVE DECISION (Vikram Jodha) shifted in under urgings and went across WALKING BRAVE (Neeraj Rawal) causing it to be checked and change course. Jockey Vikram Jodha has been severely reprimanded.
After the race, AHEAD OF HIS TIME was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(100) –THE WESTERN INDIA RACE HORSE OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION ECLIPSE STAKES OF INDIA (GR.2): (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 8
WIZARD OF STOCKS (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out slow losing about 6 lengths at the start. In view of the above and a similar behavior of the gelding in the past, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and to show his charge in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.9(101) –THE A.CAMPBELL TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11
At the start, UNTITLED (D. R. Shubham, dr. 3) jumped outwards and made contact with SEA QUEST (App. A. S. Peter, dr. 4).
After the race, MENILLY was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.10(102) –THE EMPERADO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 13
The Sr. V.O. reported that SUAREZ had been treated with shockwave therapy within the last 10 days, as such the gelding was not permitted to run. Trainer Vinesh has been fined Rs.10,000/- for contravention of the Calendar Notification regarding treatment of horses with Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (or) Radial Pulse.
The Sr. V.O. reported that SUSSING was declared to run with all four aluminum shoes but ran sporting aluminum, both fore high heel. As such, Trainer H. J. Antia has been fined Rs. 1,000/- for the lapse.
TURMERIC TOWER (J. Chinoy) reared up and sat on its haunches as the start was effected, due to which the rider was off the saddle and the mare jumped out riderless. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
XPONENTIAL (Amyn Merchant) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race
Approaching the 600 metres, GABBRIEL (Santosh G.) was observed to have shifted out and clipped the heels of WILLOWS (Neeraj Rawal) thereby dislodging its rider.
DAWNSTAR (S. A. Amit) was observed to have trailed the field. As such, Trainer H. J. Antia has been asked to ensure that his charge runs with the field next time out.
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (WILLOWS) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, FALCONETTE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, WILLOWS, GABBRIEL and LITTLE MORE were trotted and found to be sound. WILLOWS had a clip injury at the left hind hock.
The Equine Hospital reported that SUSSING had right eye injury (melting ulcers on right eye with lacrimation).
RACE NO.11(103) –THE GREAT INVESTMENT PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11
At the request of Trainer Rehanullah Khan, MOMENT OF MADNESS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the Saddling Enclosure and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, DHARASANA (A. Sandesh, dr. 2) and GUSTY GIRL (M. Ayyar, dr. 3) jumped outwards and inwards respectively and made contact.
At the start, TRISTAR (K. Nazil, dr. 4) jumped outwards starting a chain reaction due to which CURFEW (Nirmal Jodha, dr. 5), JAIPAR HONEY (Raghuveer Singh, dr. 6) and STAR SINCERITY (Neeraj Rawal, dr. 7) were inconvenienced.
Soon after the start, ANOUSHKA (Amyn Merchant) shifted in and went on to DHARASANA (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned.
In the final stages of the race, DHARASANA (A. Sandesh) shifted out under the use of whip and in an effort to correct the same, shifted in and went across GUSTY GIRL (M. Ayyar) who was steadied. Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs. 2,000/-.
After the race, TRISTAR was observed to have lost its right fore shoe. JAIPAR HONEY was found to be sound in the trot.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th, 6th and 9th race, viz. EXOTIC QUEEN, SUMMER NIGHT and POKERFACE, and the urine and blood sample of JULIETTE and PARISIAN (Winner and Second Placed– 8th race), and the special sample of LADY LANETTE (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:
RE : ENQUIRY INTO MR.ALI AKBAR ABUTALIBI’S ENTRY TO THE STABLE AREA WITH AN UNAUTHORIZED PERSON / PROMOTING SALE OF ILLICIT SUBSTANCES ON THE RACE COURSE :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 26th December, 2020 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry and having heard the submissions made by Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi / his Spokesman Mr. Haren Malkani / his witnesses as also the Stipendiary Stewards, the Stewards decided to adjourn the hearing to 9th January, 2021.
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 9th January, 2021 again heard Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi and his Spokesman Mr. Haren Malkani as also the Stipendiary Stewards. They considered all papers, proceedings, reports and records including the documents submitted by Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi and his Spokesman Mr. Haren Malkani and having deliberated the matter at length, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi.
The Stewards noted that Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi was provided a Stable Entry pass only to help people to buy/sell horses and arrange for their transport. However, he had broken the trust by entering the stable area at the Mumbai Race Course on 13th December, 2019 along with an unauthorized person viz. Mr. Abdul Razak alias Vinod. Further, he had broken the Rules as it was evident from the WhatsApp chats that he was knowingly or unknowingly exchanging information pertaining to medicines and illicit substances. The Stewards noted that the delay in concluding this enquiry was from Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi’s side and not the office as claimed by him. Also, from the audio recording of the enquiry conducted by the Stipendiary Stewards, it was evident that he had handed over his Mobile Phone to the Stipes voluntarily and not under pressure.
In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club were contemplating taking action against Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi. However, considering that he had tendered a written apology vide his letter dated 6th January, 2021 and assured the Stewards that henceforth he would give no cause for complaint and would abide by all the Rules of the Club and also keeping in mind that he had already suffered for almost one year due to him being refrained from entering the stable area to carry on his business, the Stewards of the Club decided not to initiate any further action in the matter and he was permitted to enter the stable area during the prescribed timings only to help people buy/sell horses and arrange for their transport and other related work. Mr. Ali Akbar Abutalibi was warned that if he was again found transgressing the limited permission so granted to him, the permission so granted to him will be revoked with immediate effect and he will be liable for appropriate action under the rules.
