RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES TO 1600 METRES, 3 METRES WIDE AT 1400 METRES, 5 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES. THEREAFTER RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE

 

On a request from Trainer Rajesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge EL NINO in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer Rajesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

On a request from Trainer Vinesh, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charge FINCH in the 8th race, at his own (Trainer Vinesh’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (50) – THE FREE PRESS JOURNAL TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

BALENO (Bhawani Singh, dr.1) lost about a length at the start

 

At the start, WHISPER (App. Vishal, dr.5) jumped outwards onto ASHWA ANKARA (A. S. Peter, dr.6) who jumped out throwing its head up who further shifted out onto PRECIOSO (T. S. Jodha, dr.7).

 

ASHWA ANKARA (A. S. Peter) was observed to be keen in the early part of the race.

 

Passing the 1000 metres, ASHWA ANKARA (A. S. Peter) shifted in onto REMY RED (App. Aditya Waydande) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing ROYAL CHAMP (Antony Raj S.) racing on its haunches causing the latter to check and drop back. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey A. S. Peter has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

PRECIOSO & BALENO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (51) – THE RACE MIRROR TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

                                           

KIMIKO (App. Ramswarup, dr.4) jumped, veered out and lost about a length at the start.

 

Passing the 1800 metres, MANWAR (Akshay Kumar) racing on the haunches of OLIVER (Yash Narredu) was observed to have clipped the former and stumble.

 

Passing the 300 metres, LITTLE JOHN (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out under urgings thereby bumping KIMIKO (App. Ramswarup). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

KIMIKO was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.

 

MANWAR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

DIEGO GARCIA was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its tongue.

 

LITTLE JOHN was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.3 (52) – THE INDIARACE.COM TROPHY- DIVISION II:  (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

On arrival at the starting gates, at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, KATAME was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race.

 

KATAME (Amyn Merchant, dr.8) took a fly jump at the start.

 

At the start, MOTHER’S GIFT (A. Ashhad Asbar, dr.6) jumped and carried CARINO (Akshay Kumar, dr.7) outwards who further shifted out and went across KATAME (Amyn Merchant, dr.8) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

At the start, SEQUENTIAL (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) jumped inwards and went across HORIZON (S. J. Sunil, dr.2) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

In the final stages of the race, SHAMARA (Prashant P. Dhebe) shifted in under pressure thereby carrying POWEROFATTITUDE (R. Ajinkya) inwards. After the race on questioning, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe stated that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey K. Nazil (SAINT SIZZLE) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey A. Ashhad Asbar (MOTHER’S GIFT) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race. As such, Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

App. Ramswarup (MOUNT WASHINGTON) reported that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race, despite his efforts. This being the first run of the gelding no action has been initiated.

 

CARINO (Akshay Kumar) was observed to be running erratic throughout the race. After the race Jockey Akshay Kumar stated that his mount was running green throughout the race, despite his efforts. This being the first run of the filly no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

MOUNT WASHINGTON was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. As such, the gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

SAINT SIZZLE was observed to have an injury on its right nostril.

 

CARINO was checked at the stables and found to be sound.

 

MOTHER’S GIFT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

SHAMARA was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury above its hock, further, the filly’s mouth was checked and found to be ok.

 

SUKOON was observed to have an injury on its left hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.4 (53) – THE TIMES OF INDIA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

ELYSIUM (Akshay Kumar, dr.6) was reluctant to be stalled. As such, Trainer S. S. Attaollahi has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, NAMIRI (Yash Narredu, dr.3) jumped inwards and went across OPUS DEI (C. S. Jodha, dr.2) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Passing the 500 metres, THUNDERING PHOENIX (Antony Raj S.) shifted out thereby tightening and inconveniencing OPUS DEI (C. S. Jodha) racing on its haunches causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Antony Raj S. has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

NAMIRI was trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

THUNDER PHOENIX sustained a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.5 (54) – THE HINDU TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

DEDICATION (Neeraj Rawal, dr.5) refused to be stalled, despite substantial efforts. As such, the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn, before coming under the Starter’s order and Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

WINGS OF FURY (A. Sandesh, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly and lost about a length at the start.

 

Passing the 400 metres, AXLROD (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted in under urgings and went across WINGS OF FURY (A. Sandesh). As such, App Aditya Waydande has been cautioned.

 

In the final stages of the race, TYRANNUS (Antony Raj S.) shifted in and went across EMPEROR RODERIC (S. Mosin) who was also inclined outwards. After the race Jockey Antony Raj S. reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

 After the race the jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey A. Sandesh (WINGS OF FURY) reported that his mount was not galloping fluently and hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts, the gelding was subject to veterinary examination and found to be sound.

 

Jockey H. Zeeshan (RAMBLER) reported that his mount was not galloping fluently, the gelding was subject to veterinary examination and found to be sound.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

AXLROD was observed to have an injury on its left hind fetlock.

 

EMPEROR RODERIC was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its left hind suspensori.

 

RACE NO.6 (55) – THE INDIARACE.COM TROPHY- DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

At the start, ROGUE (App. Aditya Waydande, dr.6) jumped outwards and made contact with CHAKAR VIEW (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.7) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

At the start, SHIMMER (A. Sandesh, dr.2) jumped and carried QUEEN CAROLINE (S. G. Prasad, dr.3) outwards causing the latter to be steadied.

 

At the start, SKY BOUND (A. S. Peter, dr.8) jumped outwards at the same time CAMDEN (R. Ajinkya, dr.9) jumped inwards and they made contact.

 

Passing the 600 metres, ROGUE (App. Aditya Waydande) shifted in thereby tightening ECHO (C. Umesh) racing on its haunches causing the latter to be steadied. As such, App. Aditya Waydande has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 400 metres, QUEEN CAROLINE (S. G. Prasad) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing ECHO (C. Umesh) racing on its haunches, causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey S. G. Prasad has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

CAMDEN (R. Ajinka) was observed to have trailed the field for no apparent reason, the gelding was subject to veterinary examination and found to be sound. As such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to ensure that his charge puts up a reasonable performance in the future.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

ROGUE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

EL NINO was observed to have an injury on its right fore coronet.

 

RACE NO.7 (56) – THE MID-DAY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

While rolling in the paddock, RAINBOW CONNECTION got fractious and injured himself. On veterinary examination it was found that the gelding is sore by right fore and had an injury on his right hind pastern. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

CHICAGO CHIMES (C. S. Jodha, dr.8) threw its head up and took a fly jump at the start.

 

At the start, CHARISSE (App. Kirtish Bhagat, dr.6) jumped inwards thereby starting a chain reaction due to which LEGADEMA (Yash Narredu, dr.5) and FLOYD (App. Ramswarup, dr.4) were forced inwards thereafter FLOYD further shifted in and went across MYSTERIOUSSTRANGER (K. Nazil, dr.2).

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BRIGHT BUTTON) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for weighing out late in this race.

 

After the race, the veterinary officer reported the following:

 

AVANTE was observed to have an injury on its left hind pastern.

 

CHICAGO CHIMES was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (57) – THE DOPAHAR TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 13

 

On a request from Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, SILVER STRIKE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 09.30 a.m. on 22nd August 2026 at the stables and found to be sore by left fore. As such, the rig was certified unfit to race, was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

FINCH (A. S. Peter, dr.5) took a fly jump at the start.

 

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (App. Vishal, dr.2) lost about a length at the start.

 

Soon after the start, SPOTLIGHT (A. Ashhad Asbar) veered in under urgings  and went across  BLACK THUNDER (App. Avinash Paswan), BELIEVE (R. Ajinkya), ARBITRAGE (N. S. Parmar) and ELOQUENT (Yash Narredu) and went onto DESERT CLASSIC (S. Zervan) causing the latter to be steadied. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey A. Ashhad Asbar has been fined Rs.3,000/- for shifting in before the red marker.

 

Passing the 1000 metres, due to a tightly packed field BLACK THUNDER (App. Avinash Paswan) shifted in onto ARBITRAGE (N. S. Parmar) who further shifted in and went across MILA (App. A. Omkar) causing the latter to be steadied. App Avinash Paswan has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 700 metres, AGEISJUSTANUMER (K. Pranil) shifted in and went across ELOQUENT (Yash Narredu) causing the latter to be checked thereafter in the final stages of the race AGEISJUSTANUMBER further shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing ARBITRAGE (N. S. Parmar) racing on its haunches causing the latter to be checked. After the race, Jockey K. Pranil reported that his mount hung-in throughout the race. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 300 metres, ELOQUENT (Yash Narredu) racing between AGEISJUSTANUMBER (K. Pranil) and BELIEVE (R. Ajinkya) was observed to be held up for room and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey R Ajinkya (BELIEVE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey N. S. Parmar (ARBITRAGE) reported that due to a tightly packed field he was denied sufficient room and thereby could not ride out his mount to complete advantage.

 

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the following:

 

MILA was observed to have an injury on its left fore coronet.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

HOWLIN WOLF sustained both eye injuries, right eye (sore) and mild ulcer in left eye.

The urine and blood samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 4 & 5th race, viz. FLASH MOB, LITTLE JOHN, DREAMER & TYRANNUS and the special samples of MANWAR (2nd race), MOTHER’S GIFT (3rd race), ELYSIUM (4th race) & WINGS OF FURY (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

RACE NO.4 (46) – THE DEVENDRA JAWAHARLAL MATHURAWALA MILLION: RUN ON 16TH AUGUST 2026:

 

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (G VALENTINO) reported the loss of his whip at about the 400 metres marker. Accordingly, he has been fined Rs. 2,000/-, being the second instance during the current Pune Meeting 2026, and not the first instance as erroneously published in the Race Day Report dated 16th August 2026.

RE: MOCK RACE HELD ON 22ND AUGUST 2026:

 

Trainer M. Narredu (NEW STAR) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for racing his charge in an emergency racing colors i.e. “All Black”

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE ISSUE PERTAINING TO EXTRA STABLES:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 16th August 2026, having considered all the papers and proceedings placed before them, the submissions made by Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy along with her spokesperson Trainer Bezan Chenoy as well as her written response to the Club’s Show Cause Notice along with its attachments. The Stewards having deliberated on the matter at length, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy and held her guilty of misconduct, gross indiscipline and defiance of the authority of the Club and its officials, thereby warranting disciplinary action.

 

i)              to suspend Ms. Nazzak B. Chenoy’s Trainer’s License for a period covering 6 race days i.e. from 26th August 2026 upto 27th September 2026 (both days inclusive);

 

ii)             to impose upon her a suspended sentence of one year, namely suspension of her Trainer’s License. This suspended sentence shall remain operative for a period of five years commencing from 28th September 2026, (being the date immediately after expiry of the present suspension [in (i) above] of her Trainer’s License). Accordingly, if during the said five-year period she is found guilty of a similar offence, the suspended sentence of one year shall immediately come into force and take effect. Such punishment shall be in addition to any further punishment that the Stewards may impose upon her in respect of any subsequent offence.

 

She is further informed that the Stewards have recorded that in the event she apply for the grant of a Trainer’s Licence for the Racing Season 2027/28, her conduct will be taken into consideration while considering her application under the RWITC’s Rules of Racing.

RE: SUSPENSION OF JOCKEYS LICENCE OF MR. A. SANDESH FOR TWO RACE DAYS FOR OVER CONFIDENT RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “ENCINO” RUNN IN RACE NO.31 – THE YOHAN Z. POONAWALLA TURF CLUB TROPHY (GRADE III) (DIST. 1400 MTRS.) ON 8TH AUGUST 2026:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, Mr. A. Sandesh vide his email dated 21st August 2026, informed this office that he does not wish to appeal against the above decision and requested to advance his punishment. In view of the same his request has been acceded to as per the Rules and the revised dates of the suspension of his Jockeys licence will now be 29th August and 6th September 2026 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE: SUSPENSION OF JOCKEYS LICENCE OF MR. VIVEK G. FOR TWO RACE DAYS FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “AVANTE” RUN IN RACE NO.19 – THE AUGUST HANDICAP (DIST. 1400 MTRS.) ON 2ND AUGUST 2026:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, Mr. Vivek G. vide his email dated 12th August 2026, informed this office that he has a confirmed ride in a Graded race i.e. on “MARKET KING” in the Noshir and Dolly Dhunjibhoy Sprint Million (Grade III) on 29th August 2026 and requested for postponement of his punishment. In view of the same, his request has been acceded to as per the Rules, the revised dates of the suspension of his Jockeys licence will now be 22nd August and 6th September 2026 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

Further, it was informed to Jockey Vivek G. that if he fails to fulfill his riding engagement in the above graded race, he will not be permitted to ride in any of the other races of that day.
