RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS  WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE  CHUTE)  UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORITGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charges AGNI BAAN (4th race) and MAGIC STAR & SHADOWS OF TIME (7th race), at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (362) – THE SOLAR KISS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 8

 

At the start, CALYPSO QUEEN (A.Sandesh) stumbled on it’s own and was slow to begin.

 

Jockey A.J.Nilesh (NATIONAL IKON) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Since the gelding was found to be sore after the race, no action has been initiated in to the matter.

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (CUBA) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out under the use of the whip in the straight and inconveniencing LAURUS PRIDE (T.S.Jodha).

 

After the race, NATIONAL IKON was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BEYOND COMPARISON was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (363)  – THE  J.D. & PEGGY BANATWALLA TROPHY : (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 6

 

NIGELLA (Dashragh Singh) was inclined to lay in from the 300 metres until the winning post.

 

After the race, MZIMA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NIGELLA was found to be sound

 

RACE NO.3 (364) – THE RACING JOURNALISTS TROPHY: (About) 1800 Metres - Runners – 7

 

Approaching the 600 metres, LIGHT MY WAY (C.S.Jodha) brushed the running rails.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (WESTERLIE) has been cautioned for travelling wide while negotiating the bend.

 

After the race, CARLYLE HILLS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the gelding had a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VIVA ZAPATA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LIGHT MY WAY was found to be sound

 

RACE NO.4 (365)  – THE  DOLLAR PRINCESS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 8

 

GLOWING STAR (A.Sandesh) lugged out in the early part of the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey Nirmal Jodha, rider of JACQUES (placed second), against AGNI BAAN (V.Phadke, placed first). The reason being, in the last one furlong, AGNI BAAN came on to him very badly thereby breaking his horse’s stride and then continued coming on to him again and again which cost him the race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

 

After the race, AGNI BAAN, FORWARD CHARGE, EYE OF THE STORM, GLOWING STAR and JACQUES  were found to be sound

 

RACE NO.5 (366) – THE MADRAS RACE CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 7

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh, rider of ORITO, was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his third offence during the current Mumbai Meeting, the matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of the race, held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount ORITO. Therefore, the Stewards decided that if he applied for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2012/13, it will be granted to him but his license shall suspended 26th July, 2012 to 27th July, 2012 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, AMADEUS was observed to have a cut injury at the lower lip. ORITO and CLASS APART were found to be sound

 

RACE NO.6 (367)  – THE P.B.AVASIA PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners - 6

 

Jockey S.Zervan (SLEDGEHAMMER) has been fined Rs.1000/- for having lost his whip near 100 metres from the Winning Post.

 

After the race, ENLIGHTENMENT, SLEDGEHAMMER and RUNNING SUN were found to be sound

 

RACE NO.7 (368) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres–Runners –  13

 

MAGIC STAR (S.Shinde) was reluctant to be stalled.  ELABORATOR (V.Phadke) jumped out slow and did not raise an effective gallop. Trainers C.D.Katrak and Ivor Fernandes have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race.

 

The saddle on MILANO GREEN and MENAGE A TROIS slipped back during the race, as such Trainers Subhag Singh and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been fined Rs.2000/- each.

 

After the race, SEA PEARL and MENAGE A TROIS  were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (369) – THE SOLAR KISS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres–Runners –  7

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, TITLEIST was examined at 1015 hours on 20/04/2012 and was found to be sore by the left leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

ROGER BCOOL hung out passing the 400 metres and raced along the outer rails. Trainer S.Shaikh has been asked to show the gelding in a Mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GLORIOUS MISS was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Also, the mare was examined at the stables on 23/04/2012 and found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GOLDEN MEMORY and NOBEL GLORY were  found to be sore by the left fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ROGER BCOOL  was found to be sound

The post race urine sample of the winner  of  3rd and 6th race, viz. SAIFEENA and SPIRIT OF MERCY and the special sample of STARLIGHT MAGIC (1st race), MZIMA (2nd race), CARLYLE HILLS & VIVA ZAPATA (3rd race), MENAGE A TROIS (7th race) and GLORIOUS MISS (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

RE : RACE NO.335 – THE LUCKY PAIR PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON SUNDAY, 8TH APRIL, 2012 – JOCKEY AKSHAY, RIDER OF “MCQUEEN” – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR USING THE WHIP IN EXCESS OF THE PRESCRIBED LIMIT ON HIS MOUNT (FOURTH OFFENCE) :

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Sunday, 22nd April, 2012 interviewed Jockey Akshay in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of the race, held him guilty of using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount MCQUEEN. Therefore, the Stewards decided that if he applied for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2012/13, it will be granted to him. However, he shall be deprived of the use of the whip in races for ten race days of the Pune Meeting 2012 i.e. on 26th and 27th July, 2012 and 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 15tth, 19th, 25th and 26th August, 2012.
