On a request from Trainer Vinayak, permission was granted to Trainer Suresh Chavan to saddle his charges STAR OF VENUS (3rd race), HILLS AND HEIGHTS (4th race) and STAR GODDESS (10th race) at his (Trainer Vinayak‘s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO 1.(152) THE HARRISH MEHRA TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 12

 

After being stalled, BRUNELLO (Shrikant Kamble) played up and cast one of its hind legs on the side platform of its Stall. The gelding was examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race. Also, ALEJANDRA (Daniel M.Grant) in the adjacent stall was examined by the Club’s V.O.and was certified fit to race. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to give his charge more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter during morning trials, before next accepting to race.

    

MOUNTAIN FLORA (Amyn Merchant) lugged out in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi (MACHALA) has been cautioned for failing to ride out his mount to complete advantage in the straight.

 

After the race, O’PRINCESS, ALEJANDRA and MOUNTAIN FLORA were found to be sound. BRUNELLO was to be sound but  having a gum injury.

 

An Enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of PHAROAH and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO 2. (153) THE RAJPIPLA TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres.  Runners – 5 – NO REPORT

 

RACE NO 3. (154) THE P.D. AVASIA TROPHY: (About)    1200 Metres.  Runners -6

 

PURE ELATION (Neeraj Rawal) was restless in its Stall. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to give the mare more Gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter during morning trials before next accepting to race.

 

AMADEUS (S.Zervan) lugged inwards in the final stages of the race. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

In the final 100 metres, PURE ELATION (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in under the use of the whip and made contact with AMADEUS (S.Zervan). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.4000/- for improper use of the whip.

 

After the race, AMADEUS was found to be sound but having a gum injury. AMARETTO was sound.

 

RACE NO 4. (155) THE TRICUMDAS DWARKADAS TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres.  Runners – 16

 

KITE RUNNER (C.S.Jodha) planted and lost about a distance at the start. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to give the mare more Gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter during morning trials before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been fined Rs.1000/- for using a Rubber Bit on her charge PUMBA, for which no permission was sought.

 

Jockeys Ishwar Pardeshi (FIREBACK) and Amyn Merchant (PUMBA) have been reprimanded for failing to ride out their respective mount to complete advantage in the final 200 metres.

 

STAR GLORY (Mansoor Khan) lugged inwards in the straight. Trainer H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

STAR GLORY and FIREBACK were examined on 23/01/12 and were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 5. (156) THE HARRISH MEHRA TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 12

 

CASPIAN ZONE (App.Prasad) planted and lost about a distance at the start. Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter during morning trials before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (BORN DESTINY) has been fined Rs.1000/- for improper use of the whip, wherein he had used the whip in fore hand position on the shoulder of his mount.

 

Jockey Samuel Fargeat (GUERNICA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. 

 

Jockey Mansoor Khan (TOMORROWS DREAMS) has been reprimanded for failing to ride out his mount to complete advantage.

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (TIPPING POINT) reported loss of whip near 100 metres.

 

After the race, TOMORROWS DREAMS was found to be sound. LET IT FLY was sound but having an upper tooth broken. LAST TANGO had a gum injury. CASPIAN ZONE had a cut injury on the upper lip.

 

RACE NO 6. (157) THE HELLO! CLASSIC: (About)  1400 Metres.  Runners – 5

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey Imran Chisty, rider of MAPLE STAR (placed second), against storm tracker (Anthony Crastus, placed first). The reason being, in the straight, STORM TRACKER kept taking him out all the way and in the last 200 metres STORM TRACKER veered out sharply and took him out wherein he could not ride out his mount and this cost him a certain race.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the order of placing as under:-

 

MAPLE STAR                      -        FIRST;           TACHYON                -        THIRD;

STORM TRACKER                -        SECOND;       NIGELLA                 -        FOURTH

 

MAPLE STAR (Imran Chisty) hung out in the straight. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly. 

 

STORM TRACKER (Anthony Crastus) hung out in the straight and near 150 metres carried MAPLE STAR (Imran Chisty) outwards. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt. 

 

After the race, NIGELLA, STORM TRACKER, MAPLE STAR and SPINAWIN (examined on 23/01/12) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 7. (158) THE GOOL S. POONAWALLA MILLION (GRADE 3): (About) 1200 Metres.  Runners – 8

 

ICE EMPIRE (R.Hughes) hung outwards in the straight. SUPREME MINSTREL (Imran Chisty) lugged inwards in the straight. Trainers Imtiaz A.Sait and Karthik G. have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charges before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, ICE EMPIRE was found to be sound.

 

ASHWASHAKTI (P.S.Chouhan) was placed fifth and SUPREME MINSTREL (Imran Chisty) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO 8. (159) THE ZOOM INDIAN OAKS (GRADE 1): (About) 2400 Metres. Runners -10

 

After jump out VOLTERRA (B.Prakash, dr.7) shifted out after making contact with NEATH (Y.S.Srinath, dr.6) and in the process went across ALMA MATER (R.Hughes, dr.8).

 

Soon after the start, ROMANTIQUE (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out due to the bend and made contact with ALMA MATER (R.Hughes).

 

After the race, VOLTERRA was found to have lost its right hind plate.

 

CAPRIOLE (David Allan) was placed fifth and BOTSWANA (Stephane Pasquier) were placed sixth by the Judge, in this race

 

RACE NO 9. (160) THE SATINELLO TROPHY :(About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 13

 

Soon after the start, MARTINIQUE (B.Prakash) and SUPER HERO (Kavraj Singh) shifted in and out respectively and made contact with each other.

 

Jockey Akash Agarwal (ALBUURZ) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, DIANI was found to have lost its right fore plate.

 

RACE NO 10. (161) THE TRICUMDAS DWARKADAS TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 15

 

On arrival at the Starting Gates, SEEN IT ALL was examined by the Club’s V.O. and was found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Orders. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O.before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, AUGUSTUS (C.Rajendra, dr.4) shifted in and took the running of CLOUD COVER (P.Sandeep, dr.3) who was steadied.

 

Soon after the start, FOXTROT (D.A.Naik) shifted in and jostled with CHARLIE COOL (P.S.Chouhan). Jockey D.A.Naik has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Near 200 metres, SONEEYO (Dashrath Singh) was tightened when CHARLIE COOL (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and closed the gap. Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been cautioned.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (PURPLE PATCH) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, CHARLIE COOL, MOUNTAIN WARRIOR and FOXTROT (examined on 23/01/2012), were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th race viz. BERLUSCONI, FAIRY EMPRESS, MAPLE STAR, HACHIKO & SMASHING and also that of SHARAARAT & WINGS OF GLORY (7th race) and ALMA MATER, VOLTERRA & NEATH (8th race) and the special sample of AMADEUS (3rd race) and STORM TRACKER (6th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: MERCY PETITION RECEIVED FROM MR. ANIL BAANDAL

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 20th January 2012 considered the Mercy Petition filed by Mr. Anil Baandal having interviewed him, decided to reject his Mercy Petition.

 

RE: APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 22ND JANUARY 2012 TO 26TH FEBRUARY 2012 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR FOUL RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “STAR TRAINER” IN RACE NO 112 RUN ON 1ST JANUARY 2012 – JOCKEY R HUGHES

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 20th January 2012 considered the Appeal preferred by Jockey R Hughes and having interviewed Jockey R Hughes, along with his Spokesman, Mr. Ivor Fernandes, as also Jockey S Zervan, Rider of ELIZABETH, and having viewed the video recording of the race and the incident in slow motion as well as the normal viewing of the video recording and having applied their minds to the entire facts of the case decided to partially allow the Appeal and set aside the suspension of his Jockey’s License and instead to impose on him a fine of Rs.1,00,000/- for Improper Riding on his mount.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “GOLDEN MEMORY” IN RACE NO 149 RUN ON 19TH JANUARY 2012 AS COMPARED TO ITS PREVIOUS RUNS DURING THE MUMBAI MEETING 2011/ 2012 – TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 22nd January, 2012 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. The Stewards interviewed Trainer Mansoor Shah and considered all the submissions made by him and also considered all papers, documents and proceedings as regards the captioned matter. The Stewards having deliberated the matter at length were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Mansor Shah in the subject case and held him guilty of reversal of form in respect of his charge GOLDEN MEMORY. Further, during the course of the enquiry, the Stewards also held him guilty of inconsistent running of his charge SMALL TREASURE during the current Mumbai Meeting 2011/12.

 

Taking an overall view the Stewards decided to suspend his Trainer’s license w.e.f. 12th February, 2012 to 12th March, 2012 (both days inclusive). Further, Trainer Mansoor Shah was informed that the Stewards had taken a lenient view this time and on a repetition of a similar offence in the future, very severe action would be initiated against him.

RE : ALLEGED ACCEPTANCE OF ILLEGAL RACE BETS BY MR.MAHESH R.BHUBANI AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE DURING ON COURSE MUMBAI RACES ON 15TH DECEMBER, 2011:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 22nd January, 2012 have decided to exclude the under-mentioned person from the premises of the racecourse, Mumbai/Pune and all other places wherever the Rules of Racing of this Club are in force, with immediate effect until he appears before the Stewards :-
