RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE PRESENTATION OF THE WRONG HORSE BY TRAINER MANSOOR SHAH IN RACE NO.132 – THE K.RAGHUNATH PLATE RUN ON 6THOCTOBER, 2018 - THE HORSE DECLARED TO RACE WAS “TOBASCO” BUT THE HORSE THAT HE PRESENTED WAS IDENTIFIED AS “SUSIE Q” (TRAINED BY MR.SHAZAAN SHAH)
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 21st December, 2018 interviewed Trainers Mansoor Shah and Shazaan Shah in the above connection.
The Stewards of the Club heard the submissions made and having deliberated the matter:
1. Were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Mansoor Shah and held him guilty of gross negligence in the discharge of his responsibility as a Trainer. In that,
a) when he took charge of 2-yr-old gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) /La Genereuse (GB) (TOBASCO) from Trainer Shazaan Shah, he did not bother to verify from the Passport and cross check the Brand Marks to ascertain the identity of the horse. This omission on his part led to him taking charge of the wrong horse i.e. 2-yr-old gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) / Change Tack (USA) (SUSIE Q).
b) Subsequently, he did not bother to confirm the identity of the horse and presented the wrong horse in Race No.132 – The K.Raghunath Plate run on 6th October, 2018.
However, keeping in mind the various circumstances and also that he had admitted his guilt, the Stewards of the Club decided to only fine him a sum of Rs.50,000/- and severely cautioned him for the future.
2. The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Tr.Shazaan Shah and held him guilty of gross negligence in the discharge of his responsibility as a Trainer. In that :-
a) When he took charge of the two 2-yr-olds viz. gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) /La Genereuse (GB) (TOBASCO) and gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) / Change Tack (USA) (SUSIE Q) from the Stud Farm, he did not bother to verify from the Passports and cross check the Brand Marks to ascertain the identity of both the fillies and went by outward appearance. This omission on his part led him to identify both the horses incorrectly.
b) Subsequently, he did not bother to confirm the identity of both the horses and transferred the wrong horse to Trainer Mansoor Shah i.e. he transferred to him gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) / Change Tack (USA) (SUSIE Q) in place of gr filly by Dean’s Kitten (USA) /La Genereuse (GB) (TOBASCO).
However, keeping in mind the various circumstances and also that he had admitted his guilt, the Stewards of the Club decided to only fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/- and severely cautioned him for the future.
