RACE NO.1 (222) THE MOUNT ROSE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 9

 

On arrival at the starting gate, INNER HARMONY was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, HOUDINI (A.J.Nilesh) was converged upon as HERMANN (R.K.Mahesh) shifted out and MAGICAL MANTRA (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and made contact with each other. Due to the impact, MAGICAL MANTRA shifted out and made contact with KIMAYA (Dashrath Singh).

 

Jockey C.S.Jodha (MAGICAL MANTRA) has been cautioned for changing course inwards, near 600 metres.

 

HOUDINI (A.J.Nilesh) lugged out throughout the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

HERMANN was inclined to hang out in the straight. Jockey R.K.Mahesh (HERMANN) has been cautioned for not making sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out in the straight and also for exulting before passing the Post. Nevertheless, Trainer S.Shaikh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Trainer S.Shaikh was questioned regarding the comparative performance of HERMANN in this race  which the gelding won as compared to its previous run in Race no 211 run on 15th October 2011. He stated that the horse came to him recently. There was change of equipment as compared to the previous run, in that, he had removed the Blinkers which he thought did not suit the gelding in the earlier run and he had used Hood this time. Also,  the company this time was weak, this being a race for 5 year old and over horses. He added that the horse was available at longer odds. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, MAGICAL MANTRA was found to be sound, having a cut injury at the left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.2 (223) THE BUD ROYALE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres.  Runners- 10

 

Trainer Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the Registered Racing Colours in respect of his charge SURPRISE GIFT (I.Shaikh). The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours i.e. All Black.

 

Soon on entering the straight, AL ZAMARUD (Shrikant Kamble) was inconvenienced while racing between ENCHANTED (Akash Agarwal) and C’EST LA VIE (Kavraj Singh).

 

After the race, KASKAZI was observed to have a cut injury at the left hock and also had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.3 (224) THE CLASSICAL ACT PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners - 4

 

Near 300 metres, MOON FLOWER (P.Trevor) shifted ground outwards and at the same time CLASS APART (S.Zervan) was ridden out to progress, due to which CLASS APART shifted out on to HIGHLAND BOUNTY (V.Phadke) who was tightened on to RIVER BLITZ (Suraj Narredu). Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.   

 

After the race, HIGHLAND BOUNTY was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (225) THE THUNDERING POWER PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres. Runners -6

 

Near 100 metres, REINSTATE (Shrikant Kamble) shifted in under the use of the whip and went across SLEDGEHAMMER (C.Rajendra). Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been fined Rs.1000/-.

 

After the race, SHERIFF was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel and REINSTATE had a cut injury at the right hind coronet. SLEDGEHAMMER was found to be sound.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SLEDGEHAMMER and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO.5 (226) THE ISMAIL KHAN PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners -12

 

At the request of Trainer S.Mangalorkar, HALO OF BEAUTY was examined at 0800 hours on 20/10/2011  and was found to be sore by the right fore leg,  as such the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

Trainer Robert D’Mellow requested permission for withdrawal of his charge TWITTILLATOR due to the late realization of medication given that had been logged. As such ,TWITTILLATOR was permitted to be withdrawn and Trainer Robert D’Mellow has been fined Rs.15,000/- for his lapse and urine sample from the gelding was collected for analysis.

 

At the start, SWEATY BETTY (Shrikant Kamble) fly jumped. UCANDOIT (Vikram Jodha) veered to the outside. ROYAL CONNECTION (Aadesh Kumar) jumped out awkwardly outwards and went on to ILLUMINIQUE (Amyn Merchant).

 

SWEATY BETTY (Shrikant Kamble) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, MGDIAN was found to be sore by the right fore leg.  The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of TOMORROWS DREAMS and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

GUERNICA, SWEATY BETTY and UCANDOIT were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (227) THE MOUNT ROSE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners -10

 

Near 1200 metres, MISCHEVIOUS Z (S.Zervan) was steadied due to a tightly packed field and dropped back, due to which ARABIAN EAGLE (Ishwar Pardeshi), who was following, was also hampered for a run and lost position.

 

Approaching 200 metres, FULL THROTTLE (P.Trevor) shifted in and inconvenienced BLAU HIMMEL (Neeraj Rawal). Jockey P.Trevor has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After the race, FIERY FORTUNE, FULL THROTTLE and MISCHEVIOUS Z were found to be sore by the right fore leg. MISCHEVIOUS Z also had a cut injury at the left fore bulb of heel. The above said three horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ARABIAN EAGLE was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind cannon and left hind fetlock. ADVENTURER was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (228) THE PARTY WHIP TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres.  Runners - 7

 

At the request of Trainer Zadmal Singh, ASHWA SAKIRA was examined at 0700 hours on the race day (21/10/2011)  and was observed to have a cut injury on the breast, left side and a cut injury on the left fore arm,  as such the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race the filly. 

 

At the start, ADAMS  VISION (C.S.Jodha) and GIBRAN (R.K.Mahesh) veered towards the inside. SONG OF PRAISE (P.Trevor) jumped out awkwardly outwards

 

Soon after the start, ADAMS VISION (C.S.Jodha) was tightened on a couple of occasions while racing on the inside of GIBRAN (R.K.Mahesh), who raced erratic.

 

Near 200 metres, TAPOCOCHA (Dashrath Singh) shifted out as the Jockey used his whip with the right hand and took the running of GIBRAN (R.K.Mahesh) who itself had shifted inwards.

 

After the race, MOUNTAIN N DALES was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SONG OF PRAISE & AMAZING SMILE were found to be sound. SONG OF PRAISE had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.8 (229) THE TATTERSALLS CLASSIC TRIAL MILLION: (About) 1600 Metres.  Runners - 4

 

At the request of Trainer Faisal A.Abbas, SECRET SERVICE was examined at 0720 hours on 20/10/2011  and was found to be sore by the right fore leg,  as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

RACE NO.9 (230) THE DEMOCRATICUS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners - 8

 

Near 700 metres, GRANT PARK (Kavraj Singh) shifted in and caused interference to SABA (Ishwar Pardeshi) who lost position. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

While straitening for home, GRANT PARK (Kavraj Singh) travelled wide and carried GREAT WHITE (P.Trevor) outwards. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, TELL ME MORE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of HOME ALONE and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, STAR TREASURE, STAR PRINCE, HOME ALONE and GRANT PARK were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.10 (231) THE PARTY WHIP TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners - 9

 

ISHPINGO (Dashrath Singh) jumped out in a reluctant manner, losing about 3 lengths at the start. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter, at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Near 300 metres, ISHPINGO (Dashrath Singh) shifted out and hampered the running of OLUCHI (S.Sunil). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been reprimanded.  

 

Trainer Suresh Chavan was questioned regarding the poor performance of BRAVE VISION. He stated that considering the horse’s previous run in Race No.196, he had fancied the horse strongly in this race and he had instructed the Jockey to go to the front and to do his best. He added that the horse ran below his expectation and therefore he got the horse scoped, however, the scope report was clean and hence he had no plausible explanation for the horse’s poor performance in this race. He said that the odds on the horse had come down from 13/4 to 9/4. The explanation tendered by Trainer Suresh Chavan was noted.

After the race, BRAVE VISION and ISHPINGO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.11 (232) THE BUD ROYALE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 10

 

At the start, GENERALISSIMO (Shrikant Kamble) jumped out awkwardly. MAHIMA (R.Shelar) jumped out awkwardly and as the filly was steadied, shifted out and went on to GENERALISSIMO.  NATIVE LADY (P.Trevor) lugged out and went on to HEIRESS (Dashrath Singh).

RACE NO.12 (233) THE ISMAIL KHAN PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 14

 

SYLVINIA (Amyn Merchant) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer N.B.Chenoy has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, EXUBERANCE (M.A.Roushan) jumped out awkwardly outwards and jostled with CHIQUITA (P.Trevor).

 

Jockey Amyn Merchant (SYLVANIA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker.

 

Jockey M.A.Roushan (EXUBERANCE) has been reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out in the straight.

 

Jockey J.Pradeep (CALYPSO QUEEN) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

SYLVANIA (Amyn Merchant) lugged out in the straight. Trainer N.B.Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of CALYPSO QUEEN and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, MEDIATOR and CALYPSO QUEEN were found to be sound.

RACE NO 221 - THE CLASSIC ROCK PLATE – RUN ON 16TH OCTOBER 2011

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (YOUNG OFFENDER) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “THAT’S MY MASTER” IN RACE NO 220 RUN ON 16TH OCTOBER 2011 – TRAINER DAMODARAN D PILLAI  JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH

Trainer Dadmodaran D Pillai was informed that the gelding had ran poorly and that there was drift in odds also from 2/1 an hour before the 1st race and opened at 2 ˝ at race time and drifted to 3 ˝ an closing time.  Jockey Dashrath Singh had stated that the gelding did not come on the bit at all and he had ridden out the gelding in the race.

 

Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai explained that he had instructed the Jockey not to urge the horse in the early part of the race and to settle him 5th or 6th, pull him out in the straight and ride out. Further, he added that he was satisfied with the Jockey’s riding and he himself was surprised that the horse did not gallop. He opined that possibly the gelding did not like the going. He further added that the heavy rainfall a couple of days earlier to the Race had rendered the Sand Track unusable and therefore, he could not give pace work to the horse. He said that he had given the gelding a chance on the basis of his 4th in Class IV in Race no 132.

Not being entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by the Trainer, he was cautioned to ensure that his charges race with consistency in the future.

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “LAKE ONTARIO” IN RACE NO 180 RUN ON 2ND OCTOBER 2011 – TRAINER IVOR FERNANDES, JOCKEY R SHELAR

 

The Instructions to the Jockey were to take a good jump and to do his best. The Trainer stated that the horse is unsound and he had kept the horse mainly on swimming and treadmill. To another question, he said that the horse returned sound after the race.

 

Jockey R.Shelar, when asked as to why had he not ridden out the horse in the straight, he stated that the horse had to be ridden with support as he is an unsound horse and the horse was not improving in the straight. It was put to the jockey that he had made an effort soon after the jump out but the same vigor was missing in the straight and he had not done his best in the straight. Jockey  R.Shelar was told that he had been reminded of his obligation to ride out his mounts on many occasion during the current Pune Meeting 2011.

 

Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey R.Shelar, he was fined Rs.3000/- for failing to persevere with his mount. Further, he was cautioned for the future.

 

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “OCEAN ADMIRAL” IN  RACE NO 177 RUN ON 2ND OCTOBER 2011 – TRAINER IVOR FERNANDES

 

Trainer Ivor Fernandes explained that the Instructions to Jockey R.Shelar were to be in 6th or 7th position and to do his best in the straight. He added that in his opinion the horse was used as a pacemaker and has been running its races from the front which he adduced from the race where the gelding was ridden by Jockey Suraj Narredu (in Race no 41) and also Jockey S.Zervan (in Race no 87) and he thought of changing the tactics and race the gelding from behind, and therefore he had instructed the Jockey to ride from behind and to hold him and ride in this race.

 

The Trainer went on to explain that the timing on that day. He said that the other race over 1600 metres which was won by AMBROSIA, RED SENSATION who finished 3rd had clocked the same time as OCEAN ADMIRAL who finished 6th. He added that the Track was on a slower side in the final 400 metres. He further added that the gelding has a soft mouth and he has tried using the Drop Nose Band and try and see if that helps the horse. He concluded by saying that he would be racing the gelding from a 6/ 7th position in future also.

 

In view of the above, the explanation has been noted for future reference.
