RACE NO.1 – THE STORM PLATE : (About) 14 Metres – 7 Runners

 

ATLANTIC STAR (App.P.Trevor) was reluctant to reach the Starting Gates. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to school his charge to proceed to the Starting Gates.

 

While negotiating the final bend, ETIQUETTE (Akash Agarwal) shifted in as the Jockey used his whip and inconvenienced ATLANTIC STAR (App.P Trevor). Jockey Akash Agarwal has been cautioned.

 

App.Kavraj Singh (TYSEA) has been cautioned for keeping a wide course while negotiating the bend and for failing to obtain the best possible place in the race.

 

Jockey J.Pradeep (MONEY FOR NOTHIN) has been cautioned for failing to obtain the best possible place for his mount in the early part of the race.

 

After the race, ETIQUETTE, TYSEA and MONEY FOR NOTHIN were found to be sound. MONEY FOR NOTHIN had a cut injury at the right hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.2 – THE VIBRANT PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners)

 

On arrival at the start, UP NORTH (Vikram Jodha) got kicked by KALINGA STAR (P.S.Chouhan). The gelding was examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race.

 

At the start, OCEAN ELEGANCE (R.Shelar) jumped out slow and threw its head around and did not raise an effective gallop.

Passing 1400 metres, DAUGHTEROFDESTINY (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and carried LADY GENEREUSE (P.Kamlesh) inwards. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been reprimanded.

 

After the race, OCEAN ELEGANCE & LADY GENEREUSE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 – THE AGNI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

TAG ALONG TOMMY (Aadesh Kumar) was reluctant to be stalled and in the process broke its head gear. Since all the other horses were stalled, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Nana Raghunath has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (CAPTAIN SMART) has been fined Rs.1000/- for weighing out late which resulted in the late arrival of the horse in the Paddock.

 

Soon after the start, MONEY FLASH (App.Kavraj Singh) was forced to shift out owing to lack of room along the rails due to rounding of the rails and jostled with OCEAN OF FAITH (App.P.Trevor) who was unbalanced and was also placed awkwardly behind the heels of CRÈME DE LA CRÈME (Akash Agarwal) who had also shifted in gradually, whereby OCEAN OF FAITH had to be checked. Due to this , both, OCEAN OF FAITH and MONEY FLASH lost their position in the race. The incident was accidental, nevertheless, Jockey Akash Agarwal has been advised to keep a straight course on his mounts in future.

 

Jockey J.Chinoy (LAKE BEAUTY) reported that his mount lugged out in the early part of the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, OCEAN OF FAITH was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. MONEY FLASH was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 – THE ORANGE FLAME PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Jockey H.G.Rathod (GLORIA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

After the race, TOWERING HIGH was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind pastern. PHAROAH, RIVER GEM and  MCQUEEN were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 – THE AGNI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 11 Runners

 

MATILDA was not permitted to race as the filly was ineligible to run as per the Condition of the race.

 

ITSPIRITOFRACING (A.J.Nilesh) was slowly out, losing about 3 lengths at the start. Trainer  Anil Kumar has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice before next accepting to race.

 

Near 800 metres, PEREGRINE FALCON (Y.S. Srinath) was inconvenienced while racing between MOMENT TO REMEMBER (Shrikant Kamble) and GOLDEN KINGDOM (D.A.Naik) as GOLDEN KINGDOM leaned outwards.

 

After the race, ROYAL PRINCE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also,  the gelding had an abrasion at the right hind pastern. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, OCEAN TRAIL was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind pastern. PEREGRINE FALCON was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 – THE MONICA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

LET IT FLY (H.G.Rathod) played up in the stall due to which the rider got injured. As such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

After the race, HIGHWAY EXPRESS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 – THE STAR OF GWALIOR TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 13 Runners

 

At the start, FLYING STAR (J.E.Pereira) fly jumped outwards, losing ground.

 

Soon on entering the straight, REINSTATE (Shrikant Kamble) lugged out and carried ENCHANTED (Akash Agarwal) outwards. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly. 

 

Jockey R.Shelar (THUNDER STRIKE) was reported to the Stewards  for Incompetent Riding on his mount wherein, he had dropped his hands and stopped riding in the concluding stages of the race which may have cost him the 2nd Place. While considering the matter, the Stewards noted that THUNDER STRIKE was sore, as such no action was initiated against the Jockey.

 

After the race, THUNDER STRIKE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LEGIONNAIRE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 – THE MONICA PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

After being stalled, EXPELLIARMUS (C.Rajendra) lashed out at the rear gates. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have suffered bruises on both hocks, had bleeding injuries on both thighs and was sore by the right hind leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race. ROMANTIC BEAUTY (P.Kamlesh) and STUNTACULAR (Akash Agarwal) were reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas, C.D.Katrak and Narendra Lagad have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, JOSEPHINE (App.P.Trevor) shifted in and inconvenienced ASHWA PRAJOT (P.S.Chouhan) and later BLESSED (Neeraj Rawal) went across ASHWA PRAJOT. Both Jockeys, P Trevor and Neeraj Rawal, have been cautioned.

 

CHARLIE COOL lugged out during the race and while negotiating the bend hung out and travelled wide. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, CHARLIE COOL & BLESSED were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9 – THE ORANGE FLAME PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

After the race, HYMNS TO FREEDOM was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 3rd, 6th & 7th race viz. CRÈME DE LA CRÈME, SIKU SUKI & ORIENTAL DAWN, and the special sample of WESTERN CHALLENGE (2nd race), HIGHWAY EXPRESS (6th race), BLESSED (8th race) and HYMNS TO FREEMOM (9th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “SHABDEEZ” IN RACE NO.363 THE GOODBYE PLATE RUN ON 24TH APRIL, 2011 WHICH THE MARE WON AS COMPARED TO HER PREVIOUS RUNS DURING THE MUMBAI MEETING 2010/11 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 4th May, 2011 considered the evidence obtained by the Stependiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Trainer Asad Siddiqui and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of Race No.363 as also the previous run of the horse i.e. Race No.255, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Tr.Asad Diddiqui in the subject case and held him guilty of inconsistent training and running of his charge SHABDEEZ. Therefore, the Stewards decided to fine you a sum of Rs.15,000/- and to severely caution you for the future.

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 considered appeal from Trainer Asad Siddiqui against the above punishment imposed on him. The Board of Appeal interviewed Trainer Asad Siddiqui and having considered  all documents and papers that were submitted including the Grounds of Appeal and having heard the submissions made by Trainer Asad Siddiqui and having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds decided to allow his appeal and return his deposit.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER ADIL DAJEE IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENSE FOR 23RD APRIL, 2011 – ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “STAR MOUNTAIN” IN RACE NO.279 – THE COLOURS OF HOLI TROPHY (DIV.I) RUN ON 20TH MARCH, 2011 – TRAINER ADIL DAJEE WAS GRANTED A STAY ON THE ABOVE PUNISHMENT :

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 considered all documents and papers that were submitted including the Grounds of Appeal and having heard the submissions made by Trainer Adil Dajee and having viewed the video recording of the race in question, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject his Appeal and forfeit his deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards stands. It view of the stay granted to Trainer Adil Dajee on his punishment, his Trainer’s license stood suspended on 21st July, 2011.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER VINAYAK IN RESPECT OF THE FINE OF RS.25,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB FOR UNSATISFACTORY RUNNING OF HIS CHARGE “MOONLIGHT BEAUTY” IN RACE NO.329 – THE JEHAN NUMA PLATE RUN ON 10TH APRIL, 2011 :

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 whilst considering all documents and papers that were submitted including the Grounds of Appeal, noted that the certificate of the Club’s Veterinary Officer in respect of MOONLIGHT BEAUTY submitted along with the Grounds of Appeal was not part of the proceedings of the enquiry before the Stewards of the Club and therefore considered the certificate to be fresh evidence. The Board of Appeal therefore decided to remand the case back to the Stewards of the Club in accordance with the Rules of Racing of the Club. In the mean time the punishment meted out to Trainer Vinayak by the Stewards of the Club was stayed and the deposit was ordered to be refunded.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY I.PASHA IN RESPECT OF THE SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 21ST JULY, 2011 TO 28TH AUGUST, 2011 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “MOONLIGHT BEAUTY” IN RACE NO.329 – THE JEHAN NUMA PLATE RUN ON 10TH APRIL, 2011

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 whilst considering all documents and papers that were submitted including Jockey I.Pasha’s Grounds of Appeal, noted that the certificate of the Club’s Veterinary Officer submitted by Trainer Vinayak in respect of MOONLIGHT BEAUTY along with his Grounds of Appeal was not part of the proceedings of the enquiry before the Stewards of the Club and therefore considered the certificate to be fresh  evidence. The Board of Appeal therefore decided to remand the case back to the Stewards of the Club in accordance with the Rules of Racing of the Club. In the mean time the punishment meted out to Jockey I.Pasha by the Stewards of the Club was stayed and the deposit was ordered to be refunded.

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 considered all documents and papers that were submitted including the Grounds of Appeal and having heard the submissions made by Trainer Hosidar Daji and having viewed the video recording of the race in question, and having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds decided to allow his appeal and return his deposit.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER H.J.ANTIA IN RESPECT OF THE SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENSE W.E.F. 21ST JULY, 2011TO 20TH AUGUST,2011(BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) AND A FINE OF RS.25,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM – ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “STUD OF GOLD” IN RACE NO.349 – THE GOLD DUST PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON 23RD APRIL, 2011 WHICH THE GELDING WON AS COMPARED TO ITS PREVIOUS SIX RUNS DURING THE MUMBAI MEETING 2010/11 WHERE IT HAD RUN UNPLACED :

 

The Board of Appeal at its Meeting held on 10th July, 2011 having considered all documents and papers that were submitted and having heard the submissions made by Tr.H.J.Antia, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject his Appeal and forfeit his deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards  stands. Further, the Board of Appeal felt that the punishment meted out by the Stewards of the Club appeared to be

lenient considering the gravity of the offence and also the repeated in and out running of his horses, albeit the fact that Trainer H.J.Antia always had some excuses and such incidents bring racing into disrepute. The Board of Appeal felt that the punishment meted out to Trainer H.J.Antia should be enhanced. The Board therefore decided to issue a show cause to Trainer H.J.Antia asking him to show cause as to why the punishment meted out to him should not be enhanced.

The Chairman of the Board of Appeal explained to Trainer H.J.Antia the abovementioned decision of the Board of Appeal in detail including the reasons for issuing a show cause to him and informed him that he can take his own time to prepare his reply and come before the Board of appeal on the first race day of the Pune Meeting 2011 on 21st July, 2011 and accordingly, a meeting of the Board of Appeal could be fixed to hear him on the show cause. However, Trainer H.J.Antia indicated that he did not require any further time and he would like to reply to the show cause at the abovementioned meeting itself. Accordingly, with the permission of the Chairman and consent of the Members present, Trainer H.J.Antia had in response to the show cause stated that he had nothing further to say in the matter.

 

The Board having deliberated on the matter and having applied their minds decided to enhance the fine by a further Rs.75,000/- i.e. a total fine of Rs.1,00,000/- as also to impose a suspended sentence of six months over the next two years i.e. if Trainer H.J.Antia was found guilty of the same offence within the next two years commencing from 21st August, 2011, then the aforesaid suspended sentence of punishment of six months suspension would immediately come into force and effect and which aforesaid punishment would be in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him for any subsequent act of his as regards the aforesaid.

RE :   POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF ch g “WESTERN CHALLENGE” (UNPLACED) IN RACE NO.333 – THE AHU PLATE RUN ON SATURDAY, 16TH APRIL, 2011 – THE GELDING WAS REPORTED POSITIVE BY EQUINE FORENSIC UNIT, C.V.R.L. DUBAI FOR THE PRESENCE OF “INDOMETHACIN” :

In reply to the Club’s letter dated 2nd May, 2011 Tr.Robert DMellow, informed this office vide his e-mail dated 8th May, 2011 that he did not wish to send the second urine sample of WESTERN CHALLENGE for Confirmatory Analysis.

 

In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 21st July, 2011,  as per the Medication Rules, decided to treat  the Positive Report dated 27th April, 2011 from the Primary Laboratory i.e. Equine Forensic Unit, Dubai, U.A.E. in respect of the sample of urine taken from WESTERN CHALLENGE (Unplaced in Race No.333,  as conclusive and binding on Trainer Robert D’Mellow.

 

Trainer Robert D’Mellow was asked to conduct his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

 

Further, as per the Medication Rules, the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify WESTERN CHALLENGE (Unplaced) from Race No.333  –  The Ahu Plate run on 16th April, 2011.

RE : POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF b g “OCEAN ODYSSEY” – WHO WAS COMPULSORILY SAMPLED ON 2ND JULY, 2011 FOR THE PRESENCE OF ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND SEX HORMONES SINCE THE HORSE HAD GONE TO STUD FARM AND RETURNED BACK TO THE PUNE RACE COURSE :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 21st July, 2011 interviewed Tr.Vinayak regarding the positive report dated 18th July, 2011 from Equine Forensic Unit, Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from his charge OCEAN ODYSSEY, which read as under :-

 

“THE ANALYSIS HAS CONFORMED THE PRESENCE OF BOLDENONE IN THIS SAMPLE”  

 

At this meeting, Tr.Vinayak was handed over a copy of the above report. His attention was drawn to the Club’s Calendar Notification and it was pointed out to him that in the event he desires to send the split sample of his charge OCEAN ODYSSEY for Confirmatory analysis then the “Confirmatory Analysis Rules in respect of the urine samples sent for testing” would apply.  However, should he decide not to send the sample of OCEAN ODYSSEY for confirmatory analysis, then the matter would be dealt as per the Rules published in the Racing Calendar  Re:“Random Sampling for Anabolic Steroids and Sex Hormones”.

RE : POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF  “SEA QUEEN” – WHO WAS COMPULSORILY SAMPLED ON 8TH JULY, 2011 FOR THE PRESENCE OF ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND SEX HORMONES SINCE THE HORSE HAD GONE TO STUD FARM AND RETURNED BACK TO THE PUNE RACE COURSE :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday,  22nd July, 2011 interviewed Tr.Vinayak regarding the positive report dated 21st July, 2011 from Equine Forensic Unit, Dubai, in respect of the sample of urine taken from his charge SEA QUEEN, which read as under :-

 

“THE ANALYSIS HAS CONFORMED THE PRESENCE OF BOLDENONE IN THIS SAMPLE”  

 

At this meeting, Tr.Vinayak was handed over a copy of the above report. Trainer Vinayak was requested to inform the office in writing latest by 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 26th July, 2011  whether he wished to send the split sample of his charge SEA QUEEN as also that of OCEAN ODYSSEY for Confirmatory analysis and also the name of the witnessing analyst, if any, failing which the Stewards shall treat the report of the primary laboratory as conclusive.

SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENSE W.E.F. 23RD OCTOBER, 2011 TILL THE END OF THE MUMBAI MEETING 2010/11 AND NOT TO GRANT HIM A TRAINER’S LICENSE, SHOULD HE APPLY FOR ONE, TILL 22ND OCTOBER, 2011 AND A FINE OF RS.10,000/- ENQUIRY INTO THE POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF dk b g “URBAN WARRIOR” (UNPLACED)   IN RACE NO.79 – THE HAWKE BAY PLATE, RUN ON SATURDAY, 21ST AUGUST, 2010 – POSITIVE FOR “BOLDENONE”:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 21st July, 2011 considered Mercy Petition dated 16th June, 2011 in the above connection. They interviewed Mr.S.Shaikh and having considered all papers and proceedings before them and having heard Mr.S.Shaikh and having deliberated the matter at length, decided to accept his mercy petition and waive off the remaining punishment.

RE : APPLICATION FROM MR.LADJADJ STEPHANE FOR GRANT OF “B” JOCKEY’S LICENSE UNDER THE RULES OF THIS CLUB FOR THE SEASON 2011/12 :

The Stewards at their meeting held on Thursday, 21st July, 2011 interviewed Mr.Ladjadj Stephane along with Mr.Kishore Dingra, in reference to the captioned subject matter.

 

At this meeting, Mr.Ladjadj Stephane  was asked to explain as to why he had accepted a ride under the Rules of  France Gallop in the first week of October, 2010 when he was suspended by the Stewards of the Club till 13th September, 2010 and he was told that  he shall not be granted a Jockey’s license till the end of the Pune Meeting 2010 which was up to 23rd October, 2010, for foul riding on his mount TEQUILA in Race No.37 run on 1st August, 2010 and subsequently the Board of Appeal had rejected his appeal.

 

Mr.Ladjadj Stephane explained that it was a genuine case of misunderstanding on his part and he had no intention of disregarding the order of the Stewards of the Club / Board of Appeal. He admitted his mistake and sincerely apologized for the same and assured the Stewards that  he would abide by all the Rules and Calendar Notifications of the Club.

 

The Stewards having heard Mr.Ladjadj Stephane and having deliberated the matter at length and in view of him having admitted his mistake and apologized for the same, took a lenient view in the matter and decided to fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/- for accepting a ride abroad during the period that he was ineligible for grant of a Jockey’s license.

 

 Mr.Ladjadj  Stephane was informed that he was now eligible for grant of a “B” Jockey’s license under the Rules of this Club for the Season 2011/12.
