RACE NO.1 (355) – THE SAMUEL NATHAN PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 8
Trainer Anil Kumar has been fined Rs.6000/- (Rs.3,000/- for each case) for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charges CORDIALLY YOURS and ZORBA.
Near 200 metres, MARCIANO (Amyn Merchant) shifted in causing Jockey T.S.Jodha (TIPPING POINT) to ease out to progress in the race and in the process caused SACRE COEUR (Neeraj Rawal) to travel wide.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal was questioned with regard to his riding on SACRE COEUR. The Jockey stated that he was not given any specific instructions how to ride the mare. He explained that he found the mare off the bridle from 1000 metres and she became disinterested coming into the straight. He added that as compared to her previous race, she was not keen at all to race and she is not a free sweater. The previous race was run late in the evening whereas this was the first race of the afternoon which she may not have liked. The explanation has been noted. When questioned, Trainer Adhiraj Singh Jodha stated that the filly didn’t sweat as well as she did last time, she might have felt the heat. He stated that he had instructed the Jockey to stay away from the rails and entering the straight to come from the extreme outside as she tends to get claustrophobic, as she did when she was crowded in her last run as well. Further, the mare was scoped at the Club’s Equine Hospital and was found to have suffered EIPH grade III. The mare has been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of four weeks and until passed fit to race by the Club’s VO.
After the race, TIPPING POINT was observed to have an abrasion at the left fore cannon. SACRE COEUR and MARCIANO were found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (356) – THE STONE RIDGE PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 9
Jockey Dashrath Singh (ISHPINGO) reported that his horse jumped out slowly and didn’t show initial speed.
An objection was lodged by Jockey A.Sandesh, rider of DESTINED TO GLORY (placed second), against VISIONIST (C.Rajendra, placed first). The reason being, between the 300 and 200 metres, VISIONIST (C.Rajendra) came on to him whereby he had to stop riding and thereafter in the last 150 metres, VISIONIST again interfered with him which cost him the race since he lost by half a length.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the Order of Placing as under :-
DESTINED TO GLORY - FIRST; LIMITLESS HILLS - THIRD;
VISIONIST - SECOND; ISHPINGO - FOURTH
An enquiry has been initiated in to the running and riding of ISHPINGO and a report will be submitted shortly.
