RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Zadmal Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charge ARRECIFE in the 3rd race, at his own (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Shazaan Shah to saddle his charges NIGHTFALL (3rd race) and POCO AZUL (5th race), at his own (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Narendra Lagad, permission was granted to Trainer M.K.Jadhav to saddle his charge MOUNT OLYMPUS in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer Narendra Lagad’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(198) –THE  RADHA SIGTIA TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners -  6

 

At the start, ZENON (App. K. Nazil, dr.4) jumped outwards on to BRONX (P. S. Chouhan, dr.5).

 

Between the 1600 and 1400 metres, GLORIOSUS (N. S. Parmar) was observed to have veered out and had to be steadied. In view of the erratic behavior of the gelding, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures.

 

Passing 600 metres, JOHN CABOT (Nirmal Jodha) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing ZENON (App.K. Nazil). Jockey Nirmal Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MOMENTUM) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

After the race, ZENON was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GLORIOSUS, ZENON and SUSSEX PRIDE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(199) –THE JIMMY BHARUCHA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  9

 

At the start, HIGHDARE (App. Shahrukh Khan, dr.8) jumped outwards and carried QUEENS GATE (P. Trevor, dr.9) outwards.

 

Soon after the start, MAJESTIC WARRIOR (Dashrath Singh) who was racing between ROYAL CRYSTAL (App. K. Nazil) and ARABESQUE (Neeraj Rawal) was tightened for room and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, OUI SAUVAGE was trotted and found to be sound. The colt had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.3(200) –THE SION F.NESSIM PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners -  13

 

At the start, ARRECIFE (P. S. Chouhan, dr.7) jumped outwards and at the same time HONOURABLE EYES (App. M. Ayyar, dr.8) jumped inwards and they made contact. Thereafter, ARRECIFE further shifted out and went across HONOURABLE EYES who had to be steadied.

 

Soon after the start, AQUARIUS (A. Sandesh) shifted in and at the same time POWER OF THOR (Dashrath Singh) shifted out thereby tightening SOLO MISSION (Bhawani Singh) drawn between them.

 

Soon after the start, NIGHTFALL (App. H. Zeeshan) shifted in and went across GOLDEN ORCHID (N. S. Parmar). App. H. Zeeshan has been cautioned.

 

Jockey P. S. Chouhan (ARRECIFE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (GOLDEN ORCHID) reported the loss of whip passing the 300 metres. On being questioned, he stated that the filly was sweating too much and as such the whip had slipped out of his hand. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2018/19, no action has been initiated.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of NIGHTFALL (App. H. Zeeshan) in Race No.159 as compared to Race No.200 and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, AQUARIUS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NIGHTFALL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ARRECIFE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(201) –THE STARRY EYES PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners -  8

 

At the request of Trainer Karthik Ganapathy, MAJESTICAL was examined at 1030 hours on 21/03/2019 and found to have painful swelling above the right eye, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the request of Trainer Subhag Singh, PADMAKOSA was examined at 1845 hours on 18/03/2019 and found to have fever, as such the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the mare from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, DESTINED FOR GLORY (App. M. Ayyar, dr.1) jumped outwards and made contact with FIRE FLAME (App. Vishal N. Bunde, dr.2) forcing it outwards whereby FIRE FLAME shifted out and went across RED FIRE (App.P.Vinod) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Passing 400 metres, RED CARNATION (App. P. S. Kaviraj) leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing NAVIGATOR (App. Aniket Karande). After the race, App. P. S. Kaviraj stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

RED FIRE (App. P. Vinod) was denied a clear passage in the straight as such the filly could not be ridden out to complete advantage.

 

After the race, ADAMS BEGINNING was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NAVIGATOR was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(202) –THE  OSMAN CHOTANI PLATE:  (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  9

 

At the request of Trainer Adil Dajee, MINE THAT BIRD, was examined at 0910 hours on 21/03/2019 and found to be  sore by the right fore leg, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, WE MAKE THE RULES (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out and at the same time DEMOCRAT (App. R. Ajinkya) shifted in thereby tightening FENCING (A. Sandesh) and GANDALF (App. A. S. Peter) who were drawn between them, as a result of this FENCING had to be checked and dropped back.

 

Approaching 1200 metres, POCO AZUL (Akshay) shifted in thereby inconveniencing WE MAKE THE RULES (P. S. Chouhan). Thereafter, SUPER MARIO (Amyn Merchant) shifted in on to POCO AZUL forcing it inwards, due to which WE MAKE THE RULES was tightened along the rails and had to be checked. After questioning all concerned, Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing 400 metres, POCO AZUL (Akshay) and PILATUS (B. Nikhil) were at close proximity at which time Jockey Akshay pulled his stick from the left thereby accidentally hitting the whip of Jockey B. Nikhil, due to which Jockey B. Nikhil was observed to have lost his whip. Jockey Akshay has been cautioned.

 

Passing 400 metres, HARMONY OF THE SEA (P. Trevor) shifted out and went across GOLDEN ECLIPSE (N. S. Parmar) causing the latter to be checked. Jockey P. Trevor has been cautioned.

 

After the race, POCO AZUL, DEMOCRAT and SUPER MARIO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(203) – THE  K.J.K.IRANI PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  10

 

At the start, JACK FLASH (App. K. Nazil, dr.3) jumped inwards and brushed the haunches of PABLO (A. Sandesh, dr.2). Thereafter, BONAFIDE (App. Gagandeep Mann, dr.4) shifted in and went across JACK FLASH and PABLO despite the Jockey’s efforts. Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Negotiating the bend at the 550 metres, PLEIADES (App. Santosh G.) leaned inwards thereby tightening PABLO (A. Sandesh) forcing the latter to be checked. Jockey Santosh G. has been cautioned.

 

From the top of the straight, STEPPENWOLF (App. A. S. Peter) was observed to have raced wide for no apparent reason. App. A. S. Peter has been cautioned.

 

After the race, MARIANELLA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd and 4th race  viz. MOMENTUM, PRINCESS ANNABEL and RED CARNATION, and the special sample of NIGHTFALL (3rd race) and POCO AZUL & SUPER MARIO (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.197 –THE  LAHINCH PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 17TH MARCH, 2019 :

 

There was a dual declaration of App. Vishal N. Bunde by Trainer Dallas Todywalla on WE MAKE THE RULES and by Trainer Vinesh on BROTHERSOFTHEWIND. On questioning all concerned, App. Vishal N. Bunde stated that he wished to fulfill his engagement on WE MAKE THE RULES. As such Tr. Vinesh was permitted to declare App. R. Ajinkya on BROTHERSOFTHEWIND. After further enquiry in the matter, App. Vishal N. Bunde has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting two rides in the same race.

RE : RACE NO.196 –THE  SHAPOORJI PALLONJI BREEDERS’ JUVENILE COLTS’ CHAMPIONSHIP (GR.3) RUN ON 17TH MARCH, 2019 :

 

Trainer Md.Sajid Qureshi has been fined Rs 1,000/- for having registered the incorrect pattern of racing colours for his charge SQUARE THE CIRCLE in the above race. In that, the colours registered were “Dark green, pink cross sashes, yellow cap” however, the colours sported by his Jockey when weighing out were “Dark green, pink cross sashes, arm bands, yellow cap”.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY P.S.CHOUHAN AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS I.E. SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE FOR 2 RACE DAYS FROM 29TH MARCH, 2019 TO 31ST MARCH, 2019 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) FOR CARELESS RIDING ON “FLOWER DUST” IN RACE NO.176 – THE AMATEUR RIDERS’ CLUB TROPHY RUN ON 7TH MARCH, 2019 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 21st March, 2019 interviewed Jockey P.S.Chouhan in the above connection.

 

The Stewards of the Club considered all papers and proceedings before them and having heard Jockey P.S.Chouhan and having viewed the video of Race No.176 (all angles) and having deliberated the matter, decided to reject the appeal.  His Jockey’s license now stands suspended w.e.f. 6th April, 2019 to 7th April, 2019 (both days inclusive).
