RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer S. Ganapathy, permission was granted to Trainer Karthik Ganapathy to saddle his charge LIGHTNING FLAME in the 1st race, at his own (Trainer S. Ganapathy’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1 (68) THE MRS PATMORE TROPHY-DIVISION II - (ABOUT) 1600 METRES - RUNNERS - 9
At the request of Trainer Himmat Singh, SPIRITUAL ROCK was examined in the stable area at 10:05 AM on 20/01/2023 and was found to be lame by right fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 1300 metres, TOOFAN (Amyn Merchant) leaned inwards thereby tightening TURECI (App. Mustakim Alam) causing the latter to check and drop back due to which GOLDIVA (A. Sandesh) had to be steadied. Thereafter passing the 300 metres, TOOFAN leaned inwards onto GIMME (Prashant P. Dhebe). After the race on questioning, Jockey Amyn Merchant has been severely reprimanded.
Jockey Vishal. N. Bunde (COME BACK PLEASE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2022/23, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-
After the race, STUNNING VISUAL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, CAMILLE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (69) THE JACQUELINE TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1600 METRES - RUNNERS - 6
In the process of stalling, SUCCESSOR (A. Sandesh, dr. 5) the iron stirrup of the saddle got stuck due to which one of the rear gate closed as the mare was half way. She was taken out and examined by the Club Sr. V. O. and was certified fit to race.
After the race, COEUR DE LION was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, SUCCESSOR was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (70) THE MACCHUPICCHU TROPHY- (ABOUT) 1400 METRES - RUNNERS - 10
DEFINITELY (Amyn Merchant, dr. 1) planted thereby losing considerable ground at the start. In view of the above and a similar behavior of the gelding in his last start. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
On arrival at the start, at the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BALENCIAGA) the saddle on his mount was adjusted.
BALENCIAGA (Neeraj Rawal, dr.8) was observed to have jumped out slowly losing about a length at the start.
At the start, MAJORELLA BLUE (C. S. Jodha, dr.2) jumped outwards at the same time DALI SWIRL (App. Haridas Gore, dr.3) jumped inwards and they made contact.
At the start, OCEAN OF GOD (Vikram Jodha, dr.10) jumped and veered outwards and had to be steadied. Trainer Himmat Singh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
Jockey K. Nazil (SAN SALVATORE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2022/23, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (BALENCIAGA) reported that he was held up for room between the 300 metres and 200 metres as the same was observed in the replays, it was noted. Thereafter approaching the 200 metres, BALENCIAGA shifted out thereby forcing EXCELLENT STAR (A. Sandesh) outwards.
After the race, ANIMOUS was observed to have lost her right fore shoe.
RACE NO.4 (71) THE PELICAN TROPHY- (ABOUT) 2000 METRES - RUNNERS - 9
LETO (Vishal. N. Bunde, dr.2) jumped out slowly losing about a length at the start.
Approaching the 100 metres, KEY TO THE MINT (S. Saqlain) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening OWN VOICE (R. Ajinkya) along the rails. Jockey S. Saqlain has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey K. Nazil (ZARAK) reported that approaching the 400 metres, he was held up for room.
After the race, KEY TO THE MINT was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 (72) THE NOBLE EAGLE TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1000 METRES - RUNNERS - 13
At the start, BUBBLY BOY (S. Zervan, dr.3) jumped outwards and went across GIANT KING (S. J. Sunil, dr.4) who had to be steadied.
Approaching the 800 metres, ARIYANA STAR (Neeraj Rawal) shifted outwards onto MOONLIGHT KISS (App. Mustakim Alam) who in turn shifted out forcing CORDELIA (P. S. Chouhan) outwards.
Passing the 700 metres, MOONLIGHT KISS (App. Mustakim Alam) leaned inwards onto GIANT KING (S. J. Sunil) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, App. Mustakim Alam has been severely reprimanded.
After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan (CORDELIA) reported that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race.
After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (BUBBLY BOY) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight.
After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (SUPREME SPIRIT) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight.
After the race, JULIANA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.6 (73) THE MRS PATMORE TROPHY-DIVISION I - (ABOUT) 1600 METRES - RUNNERS - 10
At the Start, ATTAINED (A. Sandesh, dr.10) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
Passing the 200 metres, BRAVE BEAUTY (P. Trevor) shifted in under urgings and went across SWEET EMOTION (N. S. Parmar) who was inclined outwards. After the race, on questioning Jockey P. Trevor and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-
After the race, MARANSH, SWEET EMOTION & THE PRESIDENT were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (74) THE THUMBELINA TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1200 METRES RUNNERS - 14
Approaching the 300 metres, It was observed that TWELFTH EARL (S. Saqlain) leaned in under urgings thereby tightening DOWSABEL (A. Sandesh) along the rails. Jockey S. Saqlain has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey S. Saqlain (TWELFTH EARL) reported that his right reign slipped momentarily passing the 300 metres which he regained immediately. Jockey S. Saqlain has been cautioned.
After the race, SUPERLEGGERA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, RED CARNATION was observed to have broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, TWELFTH EARL was trotted and found to be sound.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:
RE: IMPROPER USE OF THE WHIP ON “STAR” IN MOCK RACE HELD ON 15TH JANUARY 2023: - APP. JOCKEY GAGANDEEP MAAN.
In reference to the captioned subject matter, the Stipendiary Stewards having heard the App. Jockey Gagandeep Maan and having viewed the video of the mock race held on 15th January 2023, and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of using the whip in an improper manner on his mount STAR. Therefore it was decided to fine him a sum of Rs.5,000/- and cautioned him severely for the future.
