RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.

On a request from Trainer Shyam S. Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge MEMORABLE in the 4^th race, at his (Trainer Shaym S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Vinay Lagad, permission was granted to Trainer Narendra Lagad to saddle his charge CRÈME DE LA CRÈME in the 9^th race, at his (Trainer Vinay Lagad’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Zadmal Singh, permission was granted to Trainer Subhag Singh to saddle his charge SHE’S SWEET in the 9^th race, at his (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(72) – THE RAPIDASH PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 9

SONG OF PRAISE (A.Sandesh) was shying away from the gates. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

FAIRY EMPRESS (Kavraj Singh) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

Jockey Kavraj Singh (FAIRY EMPRESS) reported that as his mount jumped out awkwardly, he lost his right stirrup which he regained shortly.

WINDS OF FORTUNE (Suraj Narredu) lugged out in the final stages of the race. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

BLUE SWALLOW (J.Chinoy) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

After the race, STAR STORM was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. ETIQUETTE and TIPPING POINT were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(73) – THE VESUVIUS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12

STRIKING GIRL (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) whipped around after the start thereby losing considerable ground. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

RUSHING RIVER (M.A.Roushan) was slow in the stride, losing about 3 lengths at the start.

App.Prasad (AL ZAMARUD) has been cautioned for shifting in before the Red Marker.

Near 800 metres, NEGREDO (App.S.Mosin) was ridden out to take an insufficient gap between NIGELLA (Zameer Sayyed) on its inside and DANCING MONEY (App.Sandeep Jadhav) on its outside, due to which NIGELLA was tightened and lost position. App.S.Mosin has been cautioned.

BARTIMAEUS (A.Sandesh) lugged out in the straight and near 400 metres shifted out and hampered the running of MOUNTAIN LION (S.P.Ranjane). Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

When questioned, App.S.Mosin, rider of NEGREDO, stated that his mount was dropping back in the straight and he felt her uncomfortable. Trainer Mansoor Shah stated that he had fancied the filly but she has run miserably. He added that the filly had worked well and appeared more fitter. Further, he had claimed 5 kg allowance this time. He further added that the filly was scoped after the race and no abnormality was detected. He had no further explanation to offer. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the filly and he reported that the filly had returned sound. The explanation of the Trainer and Jockey was noted.

The Sr.V.O. reported that DANCING DOLLY collapsed near 500 metres. On examination, the filly was found to have suffered fracture of right fore fetlock joint with complete opening of right fore fetlock joint. Hence, the filly was euthanized on humane ground.

After the race, NIGELLA was observed to have lost its left fore shoe. MOUNTAIN LION had a broken incisor tooth. DANCING MONEY was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(74) – THE MAHARAJA SIR PRATAPSINGH GAEKWAD TROPHY: (About) 1400 Mts – Runners – 5

ENLIGHTENMENT (Daniel M.Grant) was slow in the stride, losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

App.Prabhu Naidu (WHITE KNIGHT) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

Jockey Dashrath Singh (EMERALD VALLEY) has been cautioned for shifting-in in the final stages of the race and going across SABA (Neeraj Rawal) in the process.

After the race, ENLIGHTENMENT was found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(75) – THE CONTINUAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

NASERIAN (Vikram Jodha) jumped awkwardly inwards.

MAGIC STAR (J.E.Pereira) and ROMALIA (Dashrath Singh) lugged out in the straight. Trainers Narendra Lagad and M.Narredu have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

In the final 100 metres, EMERALD FORTUNE (P.Trevor) was tightened for room and steadied as EVEREADY (C.S.Jodha) shifted in when shied away from ROMALIA (Dashrath Singh), who had shifted inwards.

After the race, MAGIC STAR was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind coronet. EMERALD FORTUNE and ROMALIA were found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(76) – THE AUTUMN BLUE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 13

Relying on a report from the Sr. VO, Trainer Altamaash A Ahmed has been fined Rs.2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing on his charge ANGEL’S KISS. The filly was declared to have plain Aluminium whereas on examination the filly was found to have Aluminium, both hind high heels.

ANGEL’S KISS (S.N.Chavan) lugged in and TOPTRICK (D.A.Naik) lugged outwards in the straight. Trainers Altamaash A.Ahmed and Anil Kumar have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge NEW WINGS in this race which the filly won as compared to her earlier run in Race no 29 run on 29^th November 2012. The Trainer expressed his surprise with the filly’s win. He added that there was no common horse who had finished ahead of his horse. He further said that last time the filly had won with a 5 kg claimer and this time also she has won with a claimer. He said that if the filly had not to win today, he would have run her over 2000 metres as she is from a staying family. Also, the filly was available at longer odds. The explanation was noted.

After the race, MOON RAKER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, CALYPSO QUEEN was observed to have a cut injury at the right hock. DREAMLINER, TOPTRICK (examined on 21/12/2012) and ANGEL’S KISS (examined on 21/12/2012) were found to be sound. TOPTRICK was observed to have a wolf tooth on the right side. Tr.Anil Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures.

RACE NO.6(77) – THE ALDEBURGH PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7

Near 1200 metres, SKY LANTERN (R.Shelar) shifted in as the filly was being settled and made contact with MODUS VIVENDI (Neeraj Rawal).

Approaching 400 metres, NEGOTIATOR (Daniel M.Grant) was erratic and shifted out, due to which SKY LANTERN (R.Shelar) shifted out sharply and forced MODUS VIVENDI (Neeraj Rawal) outwards.

After the race, MODUS VIVENDI was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind stifle.

RACE NO.7(78) – THE CONTINUAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11

Soon after the jump out, COLOURS FLYING (Suraj Narredu) lugged in and hampered the running of SUPER SATIN (Neeraj Rawal). Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey Suraj Narredu (COLOURS FLYING) reported that he had to steady his mount near 700 metres and then did not get a clear run in the straight.

HABIBIAN (App.Prabhu Naidu) lugged in throughout the race and soon on entering the straight the gelding shifted in and hampered the running of MYLA ROSE (Amyn Merchant) who was racing along the rails. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, ADAM’S WONDER, COLOURS FLYING (examined on 21/12/2012), HABIBIAN and QUEEN were found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(79) – THE EDGAR DeSYLVA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14

At the request of Trainer S.K.Sunderji, AUGUSTUS was examined at 1130 hours on 19/12/2012 and was found to have urticaria on neck, back and face area, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a Fitness Certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

BOLD DANCER (F.Irani) took a fly jump.

At the start, HILL RANGER (Suraj Narredu, dr.5) jumped out awkwardly inwards and made contact with THIS ONES FOR YOU (A.Sandesh, dr.4), who went on to TAMARAI (Neeraj Rawal), who in turn went on to ARCTIC MINSTREL (C.Rajendra).

Near 300 metres, ARCTIC MINSTREL (C.Rajendra) was ridden in check when tightened, while racing on the inside of STAYING ALIVE (App.Prabhu Naidu).

ARCTIC MINSTREL (C.Rajendra), THIS ONES FOR YOU (A.Sandesh) and TAMARAI (Neeraj Rawal) did not get a clear run in the straight.

After the race, APOCALYPSE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, UNKNOWN REBEL was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon. ARCTIC MINSTREL and TAMARAI were found to be sound.

RACE NO.9(80) – THE AUTUMN BLUE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 13

SPIRIT OF ECSTASY (Neeraj Rawal) was restless in the stall. WINDSOR QUEEN (C.Rajendra) leaned on its side in the stall, not allowing the rider to settle. Trainers Nosher Cama and Faisal A.Abbas have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Soon after the start, WARRIOR PRINCE (Kavraj Singh) shifted in and hampered the running of SMALL TREASURE (D.A.Naik). Jockey Kavraj Singh has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

SHE’S SWEET (App.Prabhu Naidu) lugged in during the race. The Trainer has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

Jockey S.Sameer (REIN IN SPAIN) was reported to the Stewards for dropping his hands before passing the winning post thereby losing 2^nd Place.

The Stewards interviewed Jockey S.Sameer in the above connection and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 6^th January, 2013 (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was warned to be more careful for the future.

After the race, REIN IN SPAIN, QUEENS KISS, SHE’S SWEET and WARRIOR PRINCE (examined on 21/12/2012) were found to be sound. SPIRIT OF ECSTASY had a gum injury.

RACE NO.10(81) – THE VESUVIUS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 13

At the start, JUSTERINI (Abhishek Habbu, dr.12) jumped awkwardly inwards on to DESERT EAGLE (M.A.Roushan, dr.11), who went in on to ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE (Ishwar Pardeshi, dr.10). who in turn went on to MACHO MAN (Kavraj Singh, dr.9).

At the start, SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (App.Prabhu Naidu) jumped out awkwardly.

Passing 1000 metres, RISING ANGEL (Zameer Sayyed) shifted inwards due to the presence of JUSTERINI (Abhishek Habbu) on its outside. At the same time, MACHO MAN (Kavraj Singh) shifted in, due to JUSTERINI shifting in. In this movement of horses, QUANDO QUANDO (App.Sandeep Jadhav) was tightened and lost position.

Near 700 metres, STORMYDAY (S.P.Ranjane) shifted in and carried JUSTERINI (Abhishek Habbu), who in turn tightened SHOWERS OF HEAVEN (App.Prabhu Naidu) who lost position and in doing so, RISING ANGEL (Zameer Sayyed) who was following, was checked and was forced to shift out. Joackey S.P.Ranjane has been cautioned.

Trainer Altaf Hussain was questioned regarding the poor performance of SHOWERS OF HEAVEN. The Trainer stated that the Instructions to App.Prabhu Naidu were to be in 2^nd, 3^rd or 4^th position and to do his best. He added that App Prabhu Naidu had reported to him that the filly did not respond once she was interfered with near 700 metres. The Trainer further said that he had fancied the filly on the basis of her third placing in the previous run but her run in this race was disappointing. The explanation has been noted.

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of MACHO MAN and a reported will be submitted shortly.

JUSTERINI was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, MACHO MAN was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the right fore pastern and STORMY DAY had a cut injury at the right fore cannon. SHOWERS OF HEAVEN, QUANDO QUANDO and ICE AGE (examined on 21/12/2012) were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2^nd, 4^th, 7^th & 10^th race, viz. MACHO UNO, MONSIEUR STRAUSS, ZOOM ZOOM and ORIENTAL SAPPHIRE, and the special sample of NEGREDO (2^nd race), APOCALYPSE (8^th race), WARRIOR PRINCE (9^th race) and JUSTERINI (10^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
