RACE DAY REPORTS
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1700 METRES TILL 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 6 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1(224) – THE ROAD RUNNER PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
Trainer Altaf Husain was questioned with regard the poor performance of BRUT ROSE. The Trainer stated that BRUT ROSE was an ordinary filly and has not shown any form in her career except the previous run in Race No 50 where she ran 3rd, He said that he gave the filly a chance and declared a good Jockey this time. He added that the filly ran after a gap of 2 ½ months and after the race the Jockey has suggested to confine her over 1000 & 1200 metre races as he felt that 1400 metres was too long for her. He said that the filly’s pedigree suggests that she may tackle a mile and mile and a quarter, but she ran badly over 1400 metres. The explanation was noted.
An enquiry has been initiated in to the running and riding of QUANDO QUANDO and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, QUANDO QUANDO was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(225) – THE JONTY RHODES PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 4 Runners
At the request of Trainer M.Narredu, MANYATTA was examined at 1000 hours on 20/10/2012 (race day) and was found to be sore by the left fore leg and had swelling on left knee as a result of an injury, as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
At the start, RISING POWER (A.Sandesh) jumped out awkwardly outwards and went on to SALT (A.Ashhad Asbar).
Near 300 metres, SALT (A.Ashhad Asbar) shifted ground outwards under the use of the whip. Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar has been cautioned.
SALT (A.Ashhad Asbar) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, SALT was found to be sound.
RACE NO.3(226) – THE K. RAGHUNATH PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 8 Runners
At the start, DAFFODILS (A.Sandesh) lost her footing and was slow to begin.
Soon after the start, ALBUURZ (V.Chandrakant) shifted outwards and carried GREATNESS (P.Trevor) who went on to CHECK HER OUT (Ishwar Pardeshi), who in turn went on to HELEN (D.K.Ashish). Jockey V.Chandrakant has been fined Rs.1000/-.
After the race, GOOD LOOKING was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the left hind cannon. BORDERLINE had an abrasion at both hind pastern, GREATNESS had a cut injury at the left hind cannon and TITLEIST had a cut injury at the right hind cannon. DAFFODILS and ALBUURZ were found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(227) – THE ROAD RUNNER PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners
Jockey J.Pradeep (TAJ E SHAHI) has been fined Rs.2000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker and going across the entire field on his inside.
After the race, CHINGARI was observed to have an abrasion at the brisket.
RACE NO.5(228) – THE CLASSIC ROCK PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – 10 Runners
ADAMS PRINCE (Kavraj Singh) was slow in the stride, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
ADAMS PRINCE (Kavraj Singh) laid out while negotiating the bend. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
ROMANTIC BEAUTY (P.Kamlesh) was inclined to lug-in in the final stages of the race. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, BLUE KNIGHT was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. ROYAL DESTINY had a cut injury at the right hind pastern and TIPPING POINT had an abrasion at the right hind fetlock. ADAMS PRINCE and ROYAL FANTASY were found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(229) – THE PORTSIDE CAFE SUPER SPRINT: (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners
Soon after the start, SPEED BABY (Amyn Merchant) shifted in despite Jockey’s effort and hampered the running of WISH UPON A STAR (Vikram Jodha).
An Objection was lodged by Jockey D.K.Ashish, the rider of ICE EMPIRE (Placed 2nd), against GRANDE DAME (Dashrath Singh, placed 1st). The reason being, GRANDE DAME came on to him in the last 50 metres and took his ground totally and came on to the rails, due to which he could not ride out his mount in the final stages of the race.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
GRANDE DAME (Dashrath Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
Trainer P.Shroff was given an opportunity to explain the poor performance of SET ABLAZE. He stated that the filly is very ordinary and that probably she does not have the ability of her sister and she was still a maiden which speaks of her ability. He added that last time out in Race No 129 where she finished 2nd, she was well beaten. The explanation was noted.
After the race, BLACK PEARL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, SET ABLAZE and GRANDE DAME were found to be sound. SET ABLAZE had an abrasion at the left hind pastern.
RACE NO.7(230) – THE PUNE RACING JOURNALISTS TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres– 11 Runners
When the gates were released, BLUE CASPER (Shrikant Kamble, dr.2) lost ground when tightened for room between MOUNTAIN WARRIOR (Vikram Jodha, dr.1) and EQUINOX (A.Sandesh, dr.3).
Soon after the start, THAT’S MY MASTER (A.Ashhad Asbar) shifted in, due to which EQUINOX (A.Sandesh) was steadied and slowed down. BLUE CASPER (Shrikant Kamble) which was travelling behind, clipped the hind heels of EQUINOX and stumbled.
Passing 400 metres, PERSIAN (P.Trevor) shifted in and hampered the running of EQUINOX (A.Sandesh). Jockey P.Trevor has been fined Rs.5000/-.
Trainer Vinesh was questioned regarding the poor performance of JEWELS OF THE HILL. The Instructions to the Jockey’ were to be in 5th or 6th position. improve gradually and to do his best in the straight. Tr.Vinesh added that the horse was caught wide because of the draw. When asked, Jockey Abhishek Habbu stated that the gelding travelled well till he was covered but fizzled out thereafter. The Trainer opted for Endoscopy to be performed on his charge. The Endoscopy Report showed few droplets of mucous discharge in the Nasopharynx and streaks of whitish mucopus discharge in the Trachea and the Trainer was advised treatment for the same.
After the race, THAT’S MY MASTER and JEWELS OF THE HILL were found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(231) – THE SELF STYLED PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners
At the start, TOMORROWS DREAMS (App.Prasad) and DONATA (App.Tushar Nemane) brushed each other. PURPLE MOON (Dashrath Singh) and ROYALTY (A.Ashhad Asbar) also brushed each other.
After the race, HERZELIYAH was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel and PURPLE MOON had a cut injury at the left hind coronet.
RACE NO.9(232) – THE SURESH MAHINDRA TROPHY: (About) 3200 Metres – 3 Runners
After the race, BLING and CLARION CALL were found to be sound. BLING had a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 3rd, 7th and 8th race, viz. BORDERLINE, PERSIAN and ROYALTY, and the special sample of ROMANTIC BEAUTY (5th race) and JEWELS OF THE HILL (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
