RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES WIDE FROM 1600 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST.

 

On a request from Trainer Dallas Todywalla, permission was granted to Trainer Faisal A.Abbas to saddle his charges BLAU HIMMEL (2nd race), APACHE INDIAN (3rd race), HOME ALONE (5th race), at his (Trainer Dallas Todywalla’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Suresh Chavan, permission was granted to Trainer Damodaran D.Pillai to saddle his charges URBAN WARRIOR & BLUE KNIGHT in the 3rd and 7th race respectively, at his (Trainer Suresh Chavan’s) risk and responsibility.

 RACE NO 1 (70) - THE FERIAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners -  8

 

On reaching the start, AGAIN GALLOP  was examined by the Club’s V.O. and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, HOUDINI (App.M.A.Roushan) tried to drift out and carried BLUE SWALLOW (J.Pradeep) outwards. Thereafter, HOUDINI travelled wide throughout the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (FULL THROTTLE) has been  fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

Trainer Altaf Hussain was questioned with regard to the comparative performance of his charge ARABIAN FIGHTER in this race which the gelding won as compared to its previous run where the gelding finished 13th out of 16 horses. Trainer Altaf Hussain explained that there was a difference of 400 metres this time and the horse ran in a lower Class this time i.e. Class V.He added that there was a gap of about one month. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, Trainer Altaf Hussain has been cautioned and asked to ensure that this charges run more consistently in future.

 

After the race, MRIGGNAINEE & CAVALRYMAN were found to be sound

 

RACE NO 2 (71) – THE FERIAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners - 9

 

Near 1000 metres, ATLANTIC STAR (App.P.Trevor) was tightened due to a tightly packed field and dropped back.

 

Near 900 metres, ATLANTIC STAR (App.P.Trevor) was inconvenienced as BLAU HIMMEL (S.Sunil) shifted inwards. Jockey S.Sunil has been cautioned.

 

Near 300 metres, ATLANTIC STAR (App.P.Trevor) shifted out to progress in the race and in the process went across SWAGGER (P.Kamlesh) who was checked. App.P.Trevor has been reprimanded for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After the race, SWAGGER was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Also, the filly had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. The filly is not to race for the stipulated period of  4 weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BRING IT ON was found to be sore by the right hind leg. Also,  the gelding had a gum injury. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, EVANGILIST was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind coronet.

 

RACE NO 3 (72) - THE KING’S JESTER PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres. Runners - 10

 

PERFECT STRENGTH (T.S.Jodha) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

PRINCE BRIJENDRA (App.Kavraj Singh) was ridden in check between 600 metres to 400 metres due to lack of room.

 

After the race, ETIQUETTE (Shrikant Kamble ) was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. Also the filly had lost her left fore plate.

 

RACE NO 4 (73) – THE DR.K.VASUDEVAN CUP: About) 1000 Metres. Runners – 7

 

At the start, GLORIOUS MISS (R.Shelar, dr.6) shifted in and caused ANGELS PURSUIT (C.Rajendra, dr.5) to shift in on to STAR OF KILLARNEY (Suraj Narredu, dr.4).

 

EMERALD VALLEY (Shrikant Kamble) lugged out in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. 

 

The saddle on PHOSPHOR was observed to have slipped back during the race, as such, Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been fined Rs.2000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

 

Jockey Suraj Narredu (STAR OF KILLARNEY) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, ALIYANA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STAR OF KILLARNEY was found to be sound, having a cut injury at the right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO 5 (74) – THE DNA TROPHY (DIV.II):   (About) 1200 Metres.   Runners – 9

 

PRINCE (Sunny Chinoy) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Near 1000 metres, MISS STARLIGHT (P.Kamlesh) shifted ground outwards due to HEAVENLY PRIZE (Vikram Jodha) being in front of MISS STARLIGHT and also due to the going at the crossing at 1000 metres. Due to this, LAKE GENEVA (Suraj Narredu) was forced to go on to HOME ALONE (Neeraj Rawal) and ricocheted back on to MISS STARLIGHT. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

 

Near 300 metres, LAKE GENEVA (Suraj Narredu) shifted in under the use of the whip and tightened MISS STARLIGHT (P.Kamlesh) who was checked and in turn tightened HEAVENLY PRIZE (Vikram Jodha). Jockey Suraj Narredu has been fined Rs. 5000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

 Jockey Neeraj Rawal (HOME ALONE) reported that his mount was inclined to run out during the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, LAKE GENEVA was found to be sound, having an abrasion at the right nostril.

 

RACE NO 6 (75) – THE DNA TROPHY (DIV.I): About) 1200 Metres. Runners – 9

 

ROYAL HONOUR (C.S.Jodha) veered out sharply after jump out.

 

A  Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being that at the start, ROYAL HONOUR (C.S.Jodha, placed 2nd)  hung out and jostled with MISHRI (P.S. Chouhan, placed 3rd ), who went out on to BE COOL (D.K.Ashish) who in turn went out on to SUGAR LOAF (C.Rajendra). After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards  decided to maintain the order of placing as declared by the Judge.

Considering the above behavior of ROYAL HONOUR, Tr.Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, SUGAR LOAF & SURPRISE GIFT were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO 7 (76) – THE MUSIC MAN PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres.   Runners – 9

 

KITE RUNNER (C.S.Jodha) planted, losing a distance at the start. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner previously, Tr.Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter in two mock races, before next accepting to race. 

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (LORD OF KILLARNEY) when questioned regarding his riding, explained that his mount was very keen and he could not hold his mount. Jockey T.S.Jodha has been cautioned for taking a big break which resulted in the gelding fizzling out in the straight.

 

After the race, LORD OF KILLARNEY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of  4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, TELL ME MORE and TZIGANE were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 5th and 7th race viz. LAKE GENEVA & TELL ME MORE and the special sample of SWAGGER (2nd race), DESERT EAGLE & HEAVENLY PRIZE (5th race), SMASHING (6th race) and LORD OF KILLARNEY (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING OF RACE NO.53 – THE GOLDEN EDITION PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 14TH AUGUST, 2011 :

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had enquired into the running of the above race wherein they questioned

 Trainer Faisal A.Abbas and Jockey C.Rajendra (ROYALTY) and Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey S.N.Chavan (SO TRUE).

 

1. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas said that he had instructed Jockey C.Rajendra (ROYALTY) to be well up and to do his best. He said that in Race No 11 the  gelding ran after a gap of almost one year and had performed well with App.M.A.Roushan, having finished 3rd and on the basis of that run he thought that the gelding will run well this time. He added that ROYALTY is not a sound horse, having chip in the joint for which he was operated in Feb/ Mar 2011 during the Mumbai Meeting. He said that it was the gelding’s 4th run of its career in Race no 53 and the gelding hung out during the race and rounding the bend and also  ADAMS PRINCE had further taken his horse out. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas added that  the horse had returned sound after the race, however, subsequently,  he had the horse scoped by Dr. P.T.Khambatta,  who had opined that it may be a case of a Grade 2 EIPH.

 

Jockey C.Rajendra confirmed the Instructions and added that the horse hung out during the race and then he was taken wide at the bend and that he had ridden out the horse. Jockey confirmed that he had worked the horse and had given pace work too.

 

The explanation tendered by Trainer Faisal A.Abbas and Jockey C.Rajendra was noted.

 

2. Tr.Narendra Lagad stated that his Instructions to Jockey S.N.Chavan (SO TRUE) were to ride out and do his best. When asked about his observation of the race, Trainer Lagad stated that the filly took a good start, but showed no initial speed and the Jockey had to niggle her to keep her with the field and the filly was hampered in the straight as ARSHAVIN lugged in. He said that  the Jockey had taken the shortest way home and ridden well and he took no exception to the Jockey’s riding. He added that SO TRUE is a 4-year-old and this was the filly’s 2nd run of her career and she had soundness problems like, joints, tendon etc.

 

Jockey S.N.Chavan confirmed the Instructions. To another question, the Jockey stated that the filly was moving well without the use of the whip and also he had seen her run in a Mock race where she was ridden by a Trainee Apprentice and he felt that the filly moved well without the use of the whip and therefore he had not used the whip since the horse was responding to hands and heels. 

 

The explanation tendered by Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey S.N.Chavan was noted.
