RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1400 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 11 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 9 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

On a request from Trainer P.Shroff, permission was granted to Trainer Shyam S.Habbu to saddle his charges FONTANELLE, MODUS VIVENDI & BELVEDERE in the 4^th, 6^th & 7^th race respectively, at his (Trainer P.Shroff’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(340) – THE RUSTOMJI BYRAMJI TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 8

At the start, QUE SERA SERA (P.Trevor) and BELLA FIGURA (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out awkwardly inwards and outwards respectively and made contact with each other.

Traveling some distance from the start, NOVAK (A.Sandesh) shifted in and carried BELLA FIGURA (Neeraj Rawal) who went in and jostled with QUE SERA SERA (P.Trevor), who in turn went on to MANYARA (D.K.Ashish) who was steadied and lost position. Shortly thereafter, NOVAK again shifted in and carried BELLA FIGURA inwards, who took the running of QUE SERA SERA. Jockey A.Sandesh has been fined Rs.4000/-.

Passing 400 metres, NOVAK (A.Sandesh) was tightened as BELLA FIGURA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and at the same time QUE SERA SERA (P.Trevor) shifted ground inwards. Both the Jockeys, Neeraj Rawal and P.Trevor, have been cautioned.

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of the Stipendiary Stewards, ICE AGE was scoped at the Equine Hospital and was reported to have suffered EIPH Grade-III. Being a second time bleeder, the filly is not to race for the stipulated period of eight weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, ICE AGE was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. NOVAK, BELLA FIGURA, BURN and SHOWERS OF HEAVEN were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(341) – THE H.R.SHANTIDAS TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 5

CAPITAL ATTRACTION (A.Sandesh) was slow in the strides, losing about 3 lengths at the start.

After the race, MOUNTAIN FORCE was found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(342) – THE SOLAR KISS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 5

An objection was lodged by Jockey D.K.Ashish, rider of AIGAION (Placed Second) against SONEEYO (N.S.Parmar, Placed First). The reason being, in the last 100 metres, SONEEYO (N.S.Parmar) shifted in on to NUSH ( Neeraj Rawal) who in turn shifted in and brsushed his horse, due to which the horse lost his momentum, which cost him a certain race.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.

After the race, AIGAION, SEVEN SEAS and NUSH were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(343) –THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

Trainer M.Narredu has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the registered racing colours at the Scales in respect of his charge GOLD NECKLACE (J.E.Pereira). The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours i.e. All Black.

At the start, TO THE MANOR BORN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to MT TIANMEN (Abhishek Habbu, dr.4).

At the start, MIDNIGHT RUN (Vikram Walkar) lugged in and carried FONTANELLE (I.Pasha) inwards, who in turn carried MT TIANMEN (Abhishek Habbu) inwards. Shortly afterwards, MIDNIGHT RUN continued to lug in and carried FONTANELLE inwards, who hampered the running of TO THE MANOR BORN (Neeraj Rawal). Trainers M.K.Jadhav and P.Shroff have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge before next accepting to race them.

The Sr.V.O. reported that during the race BARONESS (A.Sandesh) stumbled near 150 metres and dislodged the rider. On examination, the filly was found to be sore from the right fore leg with swelling at the shoulder area. First aid treatment was given and the filly was sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. Subsequently, the Equine Hospital reported that the filly had sustained multiple fractures of right distal scapula. As such, BARONESS was euthanized on humane grouds after conscent of the Trainer.

Due to the above incident, MYKONOS (R.Shelar) and FONTANELLE (I.Pasha) who were racing behind BARONESS, were pulled up for a few strides.

After the race, MIDNIGHT RUN was found to be sore by the right fore leg and also had wolf tooth on either side. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

RACE NO.5(344) – THE RUSTOMJI BYRAMJI TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 7

At the request of Trainer H.J.Antia, SEEN IT ALL was examined at 0800 hours on 19/04/2013 and was found to be sore by the right hind leg and had a cut injury below fetlock on the right hind leg. As such, SEEN IT ALL was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that MARINE ZONE was observed to be trotting sore whilst approaching the starting gate. On examination, the mare was confirmed to be sore from the right fore leg. As such, MARINE ZONE was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Order. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

Jockey S.P.Ranjane (MOUNTAIN WIND) has been cautioned for repeatedly looking back in the straight and for exulting before passing the Post.

STOLEN RELIC (A.Sandesh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer B.Prakash has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey S.P.Ranjane (MOUNTAIN WIND) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

Jockey A.Sandesh (STOLEN RELIC) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in an improper manner, wherein he had used the whip in a forehand position on the neck of the horse.

After the race, DIAMONDZIP was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the upper lip. MARENGO and STOLEN RELIC were found to be sound.

RACE NO.6(345) – THE PRADEEP VIJAYAKAR TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

At the start, NATALIAN EXPRESS (Shezad Khan) jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MODUS VIVENDI) has been fined Rs.2,000 /- for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process carrying RIO (D.K.Ashish) inwards, who inconvenienced ACEJET (App.S.Mosin).

Passing 200 metres, Jockey D.K.Ashish (RIO) lost his right rein which he regained shortly.

After the race, NATALIAN EXPRESS was found to be sound, but having a cut injury above the left fore coronet.

RACE NO.7(346) – THE KLAIRON GOLD PLATE: (About) 1400 Mts – Runners – 14

BELVEDERE (Malcolm Kharadi) was reluctant to be stalled and OSRIC (T.S.Jodha) was restless in the stall and not allowing its rider to settle. Trainers P.Shroff and S.S.Shah have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

At the start, OSRIC (T.S.Jodha, dr.8) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with WENTWORTH (N.S.Parmar, dr.9) and was steadied.

Passing 1200 metres, WENTWORTH (N.S.Parmar) shifted out and carried OSRIC (T.S.Jodha) outwards.

Passing 400 metres, FLASH DRIVE (Abhishek Habbu) lugged in. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Near 300 metres, PAPPILLON (C.Rajendra) was held up for a few strides.

Jockey Kishore kadam (PARIS) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift inwards and hampering the run of HEAVENS KEY (Akshay) near 300 Metres.

After the race, PAPPILLON was observed to have a cut injury at the right fore fetlock.

RACE NO.8(347) – THE CORNICHE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10

At the Start, REINSTATE (A Ashhad Asbar) jumped awkwardly and was converged upon as PURPLE MOKARA (App Prasad) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time ORIENTAL MASTI (NS Parmar) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Soon after the start, REINSTATE (A.Ashhad Asbar) was tightened due to a tightly packed field and lost position.

Approaching 1200 metres, WISH UPON A STAR (P.Trevor) shifted in, due to which MOUNTBATTEN (A.Sandesh) shifted in and as the gelding was being settled, it shifted in on to ORIENTAL MASTI (N.S.Parmar) and then shifted out on to REINSTATE (A.Ashhad Asbar) who in turn forced IL MORAN (D.K.Ashish) outwards, who was steadied to ease off the heels of MAHIMA (R.Shelar).

After the race, MAHIMA was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right stifle. SPIRIT OF ECSTASY and WISH UPON A STAR were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1^st, 2^nd, 5^th and 8^th race viz. QUE SERA SERA, SWIFT MEMORIES, MOUNTAIN WIND and MOUNTBATTEN, and the special sample of ICE AGE (1^st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF APPRENTICE PRABHU NAIDU ON “GRAND MARCH” IN RACE NO.207 – THE ENTREPRENEURS’ ORGANISATION TROPHY RUN ON 17^TH FEBRUARY, 2013 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 20^th April, 2013 interviewed Apprentice Prabhu Naidu/his Master, Tr.Altaf Hussain as also Trainer Rehanullah Khan and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Apprentice Prabhu Naidu and held him guilty of riding an injudicious race.

The Stewards noted that Apprentice Prabhu Naidu’s license already stands suspended w.e.f. 1/9/2013 to 21/09/2013 for careless and improper riding on MON AMI in Race No.191.

Therefore, the Stewards decided that his Apprentice Jockey’s license will further stand suspended w.e.f. 22^nd September, 2013 to 28^th September, 2013 for riding an injudicious race on GRAND MARCH in Race No.207 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “CAPITANO” IN RACE NO.316 - THE M.D.PETIT PLATE (DIV.I) (1000 METRES) RUN ON SUNDAY, 7^TH APRIL, 2013 :

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey V.Chandrakant in the above connection. Trainer Narendra Lagad said that he had instructed the Jockey to settle the horse in 4^th/5^th position and to do his best. The video recording of the race was shown and when asked for his observation, Tr.Narendra Lagad admitted that the Jockey could have been more vigorous in his riding effort in the straight.

Jockey V.Chandrakant confirmed the instructions and added that at about 800 metres, Jockey S.Zervan (SARISKA) had squeezed him whilst passing from the outside whereby he lost his position. Thereafter he improved his position again and coming into the straight he had used the whip and ridden out the horse.

The video recording of the race was viewed and it was pointed out to Jockey V.Chandrakant that he was very feeble in his riding effort till the last 200 metres and although he had used the whip twice he had not ridden out the horse hands and heels. Jockey V.Chandrakant said that he had ridden out the horse to the best of his ability.

Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey V.Chandrakant, he has been fined Rs.5,000/- .

RE : JOCKEYS MANSOOR KHAN AND HANUMANT SINGH – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR IMPROPER PRACTICE I.E. WAGERING BETS ON RACE HORSES WHICH IS AGAINST THE RULES OF RACING:

The Stewards at their meeting held on Saturday, 20^th April, 2013 interviewed Jockeys Mansoor Khan and Hanumant Singh in the above connection. Both the Jockeys admitted their guilt and apologized for the same. Having heard both the Jockeys, the Stewards held them guilty of improper practice under Rule 101 (iii) of the Rules of Racing. The Stewards noted that both the Jockeys were previously warned by the Officials in this connection.

Therefore, the Stewards decided that should both the Jockeys apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2013/14, it will be granted to them, but their license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 5^th May, 2013 till 28^th October, 2013 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work).

RE : ALLEGED ACCEPTANCE OF ILLEGAL RACE BETS BY MR.PRAVEEN SOLANKI AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE, DURING OFF COURSE BETTING ON CALCUTTA RACES ON 29^TH MARCH, 2013 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 20^th April, 2013 have decided to exclude the under-mentioned person from the premises of the racecourse, Mumbai/Pune and all other places wherever the Rules of Racing of this Club are in force, with immediate effect until he appears before them :--
