RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Suresh Chavan, permission was granted to Trainer Himmat Singh to saddle his charge BLUE KNIGHT in the 1st race, at his (Trainer Suresh Chavan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(273) – THE QUEST FOR CASH PLATE:(About) 2400 Metres – Runners -  5

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, GOLD NECKLACE was examined at 0730 hours on 20/03/2014 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg and had a swelling on the right fore fetlock, as such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

Trainer Suresh Chavan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for racing his charge BLUE KNIGHT with bandages without obtaining prior permission.

 

TARA (Kavraj Singh) was inclined to lug-in in the straight. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after the race BLUE KNIGHT was observed to be returning sore from the right fore leg. The gelding was given First aid treatment on the Track and sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. BLUE KNIGHT has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, TARA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(274) –THE  FLASHING STAR PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres –Runners – 9  

 

On the way to the start, STRIKING SHADOW (S.G.Prasad)  dislodged the rider and bolted. As per the procedure, the Trainer was called and with his consent the horse was allowed to race. In view of this behavior of the horse, Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey N.S.Parmar (ESTABLISH PREDATOR) reported that his mount lugged-in in the final 200 metres. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (PASSION PRINCE) reported that his mount leaned-in during the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, STRIKING SHADOW was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MZURI, ROMANTIC BEAUTY, BURN and STRIKING SHADOW were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(275)– THE  GOLD STAR PLATE (DIV.II):(About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 9

 

ARABIAN LORD (P.Trevor) and PLAN B (A.Ashhad Asbar) were restless in the stall and not allowing their riders to settle. Trainers Altaf Hussain and Vinesh have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

WINDSOR (B.Nikhil) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey Hanumant Singh (WINDS OF CHANGE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his third offence with regard to use of the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, his Jockey’s license has been suspended w.e.f. 5th April 2014 to 6th April 2014 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work / mock race).

 

After the race, WINDSOR and ROCKING were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(276) – THE DIABOLICAL TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7

 

JAGER BOMB (Dashrath Singh) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

At the start, SPANISH SAGA (Shrikant Kamble) jumped out awkwardly throwing his head around.

 

An objection was lodged by Mr. C.D.Katrak and Jockey A.Sandesh,  trainer and rider of  MADE TO MEASURE (Placed Second) against FRIBOURG (S.Zervan, Placed First). The reason being, 50 metres after the start, FRIBOURG (S.Zervan) came on to MADE TO MEASURE and bumped him twice which unbalanced the horse totally and being a young horse, it completely upset him and his stride, which cost them a certain race.

 

After considering the submissions made by Trainer C.D.Katrak and the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to overrule the objection..

 

Jockey S.Zervan (FRIBOURG) reported that his mount lugged-out during the race. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey D.K.Ashish (DANNY BOY) reported that his mount lugged-out during the race. Trainer Amjad Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, DANNY BOY was found to be sound. The gelding was observed to have lost its left fore shoe.

 

RACE NO.5(277) – THE ASSERT THE RIGHT PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 10

 

SULTAN OF SWING (S.G.Prasad) leaned-in in the early part of the race and made contact with CLOUD COVER (A.Ashhad Asbar) on a few occasions. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Near 300 metres, STAR BENEVOLENT (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and hampered the running of ICE RINK (D.K.Ashish). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been cautioned.

 

After the race, SULTAN OF SWING was observed to have broken a blood vessel. Being a second time bleeder, the gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CLOUD COVER was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MAMBO MAGIC was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(278) – THE  MIDNIGHT MADNESS TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 7 

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that before the sixth race, RUNNING SUN was observed to have developed urticaria, as such, the horse was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  The trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the horse from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with him to race.

 

MON AMI (Shrikant Kamble) whipped around after the start and in the process the Jockey was dislodged. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Two objections were lodged in this race. One objection was lodged by Jockey P.Trevor, rider of BARRINGO (Placed Fourth) against TRANCE (Dashrath Singh, placed Second) and MYLA ROSE (C.S.Jodha, placed Third ). The reason being, approaching 300 metres TRANCE (Dashrath Singh) came in very sharply thereby bumping and boring him, due to which his horse, who was full of running,  lost complete stride. At the same time MYLA ROSE (C.S.Jodha) shifted out whereby his mount BARRINGO was completely squeezed between both the horses and this cost him a certain second place. The second objection was lodged by Jockey C.S.Jodha, rider of MYLA ROSE (Placed Third) against TRANCE (Dashrath Singh, placed Second). The reason being, between the 300 and 200 metres, TRANCE (Dashrath Singh) came on to BARRINGO (P.Trevor) who in turn came on to his horse twice, due to which his horse was unbalanced and he was unable to ride out in the last 100 metres. This cost him the second place, the verdict being a short-head.

 

After considering both the objections and having heard the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards  and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to revise the order of placing of the above race as under :-

 

MOUNTBATTEN        -        First;                     BARRINGO               -        Third;

MYLA ROSE              -        Second;                  TRANCE                  -        Fourth

 

The Stewards interviewed Jockey Dashrath Singh for careless riding on his mount TRANCE and having heard the submissions made by him and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. The Stewards noted that approaching 300 metres TRANCE shifted in sharply under use of the whip and bumped BARRINGO (P.Trevor) who in turn jostled with MYLA ROSE (C.S.Jodha) who was on the inside and Jockey Dashrath Singh made no apparent effort to correct his mount or to change his whip hand. Had Jockey P.Trevor not pulled up BARRINGO, possibly the horse may have come down. 

 

The Stewards noted that Jockey Dashrath Singh’s license already stands suspended up to 12th April, 2014 for unsatisfactory riding on RUBENS in Race No.209. Therefore, the Stewards decided to further suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 13th April, 2014 to 26th April, 2014 (both days inclusive) for careless riding on TRANCE (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, BARRINGO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MON AMI and TRANCE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(279) – THE GOLD STAR PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

 

At the request of Trainer Faisal A.Abbas, WINDSOR QUEEN was examined at 1150 hours on 20/03/2014  and was found to have a cut injury on the left hip, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the mare from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

IZARRA (S.G.Prasad) lost about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been fined Rs.2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing in respect of her charge EL WONDER wherein the gelding was declared to have plain Aluminium, but on examination it was found to have Poly Bonded Aluminium plates.

 

Near 600 metres, WALKING TALL (A.Ashhad Asbar) was inconvenienced as WARRIOR PRINCE (Prabhu Naidu) shifted inwards. Jockey Prabhu Naidu has been cautioned.

 

After the race, IZARRA was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.8(280) – THE  FLASHING STAR PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10

 

WIND OF THE NORTH (Sandeep Jadhav) jumped out awkwardly losing about 3 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, HOT PEPPER (S.Mosin) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Jockey Hanumant Singh (WIND OF THE HILLS, dr.8) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process going across the field on his inside.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MR MORRISON) reported that his mount lugged-in in the final 400 metres. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of SCARAMOUCHE and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, GLORIA and WIND OF THE NORTH were found to be sore by the right fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th race, viz. QUEEN, SMALL TREASURE, FRIBOURG, MOUNTBATTEN and SCARAMOUCHE, and the special sample of STRIKING SHADOW (2nd race), BARRINGO (6th race) and IZARRA (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
