RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS  WERE PLACED 6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Janardhan, permission was granted to Trainer Vinesh to saddle his charge DURER in the 7th race, at his (Trainer Janardhan’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(214) - THE PRICELESS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres -  Runners - 11

 

At the start, BALINGA (S.G.Prasad, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to ZOE (P.Trevor, dr.5) who in turn went on to ZANTHOS (Y.S.Srinath, dr.4).

 

Jockey R.Shelar (WAVES OF MAGIC) reported that his mount ran erratic during the race. Since the Sr.VO reported that the gelding was observed after the race to have broken a blood vessel, no further action has been initiated.

 

Jockey Y.S.Srinath (ZANTHOS) reported that the whip of Jockey Dashrath Singh (LAURUS PRIDE) hit the face of his horse in the final 100 metres. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated in the matter.

 

Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey S.P.Ranjane were questioned regarding the poor performance of WIND AND STARS. Jockey S.P.Ranjane stated that his instructions were to sit well-up, not to break the stride of the horse and to do his best. He stated that in his previous run, the mare raced from rear bunch and finished-off well. This time the mare went to the front on her own and in the last 400 metres, when he asked for an effort, the mare did not respond well enough. Trainer H.J.Antia stated that the mare is 5 years old and this was the 2nd run of her career as she was unsound. He stated that the mare’s previous run was over 1000 metres and she had performed well but this time being an extended trip of 200 metres and that mare on her own went to the front may not have suited her and she fizzled out in the last 400 metres. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, WAVES OF MAGIC was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, TROPICAL ZONE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PEPE SENIOR, WAVES OF MAGIC and WIND AND STARS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(215) - THE HOMI MODY TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 5

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (MONTREAL) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Further, he has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for improper use of the whip wherein he has used the whip with excessive frequency in the final stages of the race.

 

RACE NO.3(216) - THE FEDORA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runnes – 11

 

STELLA (Dashrath Singh) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

 

Soon after the start, SOUND OF RIVER (Akshay, dr.10) shifted-in and carried GOLD NECKLACE (H.G.Rathod, dr.9) inwards and then went across the latter and jostled with DARK WILLIAM (A Sandesh, dr.8) who in turn went across IBIS (C.S.Jodha) and then went on to SIDDHI (P.Trevor). Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, GOLDEN WAVE, DARK WILLIAM, SIDDHI, STAFFAN, GOLD NECLACE and DONATA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(217) - THE ANCIENT QUEST PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6

 

Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs 2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing in respect of his charge ONE WISH wherein the gelding was declared to have aluminum, whereas on examination the gelding was found to have aluminum, Hind Bare.

 

Further, Assistant Trainer B.R.Kaustubh has been fined Rs 3,000/- for failing to inform the Trainer H.J.Antia of the change in the Shoeing.

 

Near 250 metres, DOMINGO (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and caused interference to MINT APPROACH (Y.S.Srinath). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs 2,000/- for not making sufficient effort to control the inward movement of his mount.

 

DOMINGO (C.S.Jodha) was inclined to lug-out in the straight. Trainer Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ONE WISH and DOMINGO were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(218) - THE PRICELESS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11

 

At the start, SCARAMOUCHE (C S Jodha) stumbled.

 

EL WONDER (N.S.Parmar) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

SEVEN SEAS (S.Mosin) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, MATTER OF HEART was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MARENGO, SEVEN SEAS, CLASSIC RULER, BURN and MATTER OF HEART were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(219) - THE M.D. MEHTA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

At the start, PALATIAL (Altaf Sayyed) hung inwards and then trailed the field. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Soon after the start, AMAZON CAT (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in made contact with MOVE IN TIME (R.Shelar). Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

AMAZON CAT (Neeraj Rawal) hung-out in the straight. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the colt and he reported that AMAZON CAT was found to be sound, but having wolf tooth on either side. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, SUNNY SEA was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.7(220) - THE SECRET ROMEO PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 12

 

After reaching the start, the girth of SWORD OF HONOUR was replaced with the Club’s gear.

 

SPLENDID LIGHT (B.Sreekanth) was restless in the stall and SENOR HILL (Altaf Sayyed) lost about 8 lengths at the start. Trainers Karthik G. and  Suresh Chavan have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

WORD OF HONOUR (B.Nikhil) kept an erratic course under the use of the whip and in the final 100 metres shifted in and caused interference to PAPPILLON (N.S.Parmar). Jockey B.Nikhil has been fined Rs.2000/-.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GLORIOUS OPINION) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in under the use of the whip whereby SPLENDID LIGHT (B.Sreekanth) was carried inwards in the final stages of the race.

 

After the race, ADVANCE TO CONTACT, ALLEGIANCE and WORD OF HONOUR were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 2nd, 4th and 7th race, viz. THE MINISTERIAN, MON AMI and DURER, and the special sample of MATTER OF HEART (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
