RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT 1 METRE AT THE 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND 6 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M. Narredu to saddle his charge HEART in the 3rd race, at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (118) – THE AHMED I. RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

On arrival at the starting gate, SCARAMOUCHE (T. S. Jodha) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

Passing 300 metres, ANGELO (Vivek. G.) shifted out under the whip thereby carrying ULTIMO (R. Ajinkya) outwards. On questioning, Jockey Vivek. G. Stated that turning for home his mount was inclined inwards, as such he had used the whip on the right causing the horse to drift out. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (TREAT) reported loss of whip approaching the 400 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2024/25, no action has be initiated.

 

ULTIMO was declared to run with Egg Butt Snaffle with Link Bit but raced with Snaffle with Link Bit. Trainer P. S. Chouhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ANGELO and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, SCARAMOUCHE & ANGELO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (119) – THE BANGALORE TURF CLUB TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, COEUR DE LION was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 10:00 a.m. on 18th February 2025, at the stables and was found to have an injury on right fore bulb of heel and was sore by right fore, as such, the horse was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

On arrival at the starting gate, EMPEROR RODERIC (App. Aditya Waydande) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified him fit to race.

 

Passing the 1000 metres, EMPEROR RODERIC (App. Aditya Waydande) leaned outwards onto DREAM ALLIANCE (C. S. Jodha). After the race on questioning, App. Aditya Waydande stated that his mount hung-out throughout the race and finished the race on the outer portion of the track despite his efforts. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani singh (CHARLIE) reported that his mount hung-out in the straight. Trainer Vinesh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of DREAM ALLIANCE (C. S. Jodha) and a Report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, EMPEROR RODERIC was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. The horse has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DREAM ALLIANCE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. Further, at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards the gelding was scoped at the sampling yard and was observed to have EIPH (Grade III) and is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.3 (120) – THE J. ROBINSON PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

DUESENBERG (P. Trevor, dr.2) was slow to begin and lost about a length at the start.

 

Approaching the 1400 metres, AQUILIUS (C. S. Jodha) leaned outwards and went across CACCINI (David Allan) who had to be steadied. Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

In the final stage of the race, HEART (A. Sandesh, dr. 3) leaned outwards at the same time KINGS GAMBIT (Vivek G., dr.4) shifted in and they made contact. Jockeys Vivek G. and A. Sandesh have been cautioned.

 

After the race, HEART was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.4 (121) – THE V. P. KOREGAONKAR PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 6

 

Passing the 1400 metres, ALPHA GENE (P. Trevor) shifted in onto MOHSIN (App. Aditya Waydande) who had to check and drop back due to which SAMSON (App. Mustakim Alam) racing on its haunches had to be steadied. Jockey P. Trevor has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 1200 metres, FALSETTO (P. Vinod) shifted in and went across SAMSON (App. Mustakim Alam) who had to be steadied. Jockey P. Vinod has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (THE FLUTIST) reported that his mount hung-out in the straight. Trainer Himmat Singh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to Race.

 

After the race, BALENO was observed to have an injury on right hind coronet. MOHSIN was observed to have an injury on right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.5 (122) – THE INDIAN NAVY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

At the start, RED MERLOT (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.6) jumped out throwing its head up.

 

Passing the 150 metres, RUSH (S. G. Prasad) shifted out under pressure thereby carrying EAGLE DAY (Vivek G.) outwards thereafter EAGLE DAY shifted out under the use of whip due to which PURE (D. A. Naik) and EMPOWER (A. Prakash) were inconvenienced and LITTLE MINISTER (Amyn Merchant) was carried outwards. After questioning all concerned Jockey S. G. Prasad has been cautioned and Jockey Vivek G. has been fined Rs.2,000/- for failing to take corrective measures on his mount.

 

In the final stages of the race, RUSH (S. G. Prasad) was observed to have shifted out under pressure thereby carrying EAGLE DAY (Vivek G.), PURE (D. A. Naik) and LITTLE MINISTER (Amyn Merchant) outwards. Jockey S. G. Prasad has been cautioned.

 

After the race, FIORENTINI, SCORCESE, LITTLE MINISTER, RED MERLOT & EAGLE DAY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (123) – THE BYRAM N. JEEJEEBHOY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 5

 

AZRINAZ (A. Sandesh, dr.3) took an awkward jump at the start.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, HALL OF GRACE (App. Ramswarup) shifted in and went across TURN AND BURN (N. S. Parmar) who had to be steadied. App. Ramswarup has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CELLINI was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 5th & 6th race, viz. CHARLIE, THUNDERING PHOENIX & SHAMBALA and the special samples of ANGELO (1st race) & DREAM ALLIANCE (2nd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substances.

RE: APPEAL BY APP. S. SABA AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB TO SUSPEND HIS APPRENTICE JOCKEY'S LICENCE FOR A PERIOD OF 18 MONTHS - DE-NOVO ENQUIRY INTO PASSING RACING INFORMATION TO OTHERS AND ALLEGED BETTING ACTIVITIES IN CONTRAVENTION TO RULE 101(III) OF THE RULES OF RACING AS ALSO ON-GOING ENQUIRY INTO ALLEGED MISCONDUCT:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Tuesday, 18th February 2025, having considered appeal dated 16th January 2025 from App. S. Saba, all documents and papers that were submitted including his Grounds of Appeal, and heard the submissions made by him, his spokesman Mr. P.S. Chouhan, as also Trainer Narendra Lagad. The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject his appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club conveyed to him vide its letter dated 15th January 2025 stands.

 

In view of the stay granted to him on his punishment, the same would now come into force with effect from 20th February 2025 upto 6th April 2025 (both dates inclusive). Thereafter should he apply for a license for the Racing Season 2025/2026 and 2026/2027, the same shall not be granted to him until 30th July 2026 (not permitted to ride work / mock race). All disabilities mentioned in the Stewards order dated 15th January 2025 shall apply.

RE: APPEAL BY TRAINER H. J. ANTIA AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER'S LICENCE FOR A PERIOD OF ONE MONTH W.E.F 7TH FEBRUARY 2025 TO 6TH MARCH 2025 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) AND TO FINE HIM A SUM OF RUPEES ONE LAKH - ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF "HAGIBIS" (DRAWN 4) IN RACE NO.64 - THE RAZA ALI PLATE (DISTANCE 1400 METRES) RUN ON 9TH JANUARY 2025:

 

In connection with the captioned subject matter, the Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Tuesday, 18th February 2025, having considered Appeal dated 29th January 2025 from Trainer H. J. Antia, all documents and papers that were submitted including his Grounds of Appeal, heard the submissions made by him as also watched the relevant races. The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to partially allow his appeal and to modify his punishment as under:-

 

(a) To remove the suspension period of one month imposed on him.

 

(b) The fine of Rupees One lakh imposed on him stands.

 

(c) The deposit was ordered to be refunded.

 

(d) Further, he was severely warned and asked to be careful as no benefit of doubt will be given in

     future.
