ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY DASHRATH SINGH ON HIS MOUNT “PABLO” IN RACE NO.74 – THE DAMODARDAS C SHAH TROPHY –DIV. I RUN ON SUNDAY 30TH DECEMBER 2018:

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that on a complaint from Trainer Sanjay Kolse, they held an enquiry into the riding of Jockey Dashrath Singh on his mount PABLO in Race No. 74 run on 30th December 2018.

Jockey Dashrath Singh said that his instructions were to be in 1st, 2nd or 3rd position and to do his best in the straight. Trainer Sanjay Kolse confirmed the instructions and was of the opinion that the Jockey should have been more vigorous in the last 150 metres and even his last whip was feeble. He felt that if the Jockey would have made a little more effort, he would have won the race as the verdict was a “head”.

Jockey Dashrath Singh said that his horse was a beaten horse/stopping and that he had done his best.

After considering the explanation of the Trainer and the Jockey and reviewing the race, the Stipendiary Stewards were of the opinion that the verdict being close, Jockey Dashrath Singh could have been more vigorous and used the whip more judiciously to help the horse. Further, his contention that the horse was stopping was not accepted and therefore Jockey Dashrath Singh was reported to the Stewards for failing to persevere with his mount.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 20th January, 2019 interviewed Trainer Sanjay Kolse and Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race,  the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of injudicious riding on PABLO. In that, keeping in mind the complaint of the trainer and the Stipendiary Stewards Note, the Stewards felt that Jockey Dashrath Singh could have certainly been more vigorous in his riding effort in the final stages of the race which he was very capable of and should have used the whip more judiciously in the straight. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 4 Race Days i.e. with effect from 10th February, 2019 to 21st February, 2019 (both days inclusive) for injudicious riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
