RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 1 METRE AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1300 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 6 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 600 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 3 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.
On a request from Trainer Mansoor Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Shazaan Shah to saddle his charges WAR OF ATTRITION (1st race), NIGHTFALL (4th race), CUPIDO (8th race) and HIGHLAND WIND & SO SPLENDID (9th race), at his own (Trainer Mansoor Shah’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 –THE VESUVIUS PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 10
At the request of Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, FENDI was examined at 1430 hours on 16/11/2019 and found to have swelling on both fore fetlock, as such the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, GODSWORD (App. S. A. Amit, dr. 3) jumped outwards and made contact with ANTARCTICA (App. N. Nadeem, dr. 4), who in turn shifted out on to OFFICER IN COMMAND (App. Malam Singh, dr. 5).
After the race, Trainer Narendra Lagad reported that he was not satisfied with the riding of App. S. A. Amit on his charge GODSWOD. The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the same and will submit a report shortly.
The Equine Hospital reported that ISINIT had right eye injury (sore, corneal opacity and ulcer).
After the race, ANTARCTICA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 – THE SNOW DEW PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7
TILL END OF TIME (N. S. Parmar) took a fly jump thus losing about a length at the start.
HUNT FOR GOLD (Suraj Narredu) was observed to have hung-in in the straight. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
The Equine Hospital reported that PABLO had right eye injury (sore, corneal opacity and ulcer).
After the race, HUNT FOR GOLD and TILL END OF TIME were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 – THE ROYAL CALCUTTA TURF CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 5
After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (AWESOME ONE) reported that EXCELLENT GOLD (App. K. Nazil) shifted out at the final bend and carried him outwards deliberately. Due to this, his mount shied and hung out from there on.
After the race, Trainer Deepesh Narredu lodged a complaint stating that App. K. Nazil (EXCELLENT GOLD) shifted out at the bend and carried his charge outwards deliberately. An enquiry has been initiated into the same and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, AWESOME ONE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 – THE ASTRAL FLASH PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 12
SUNSET (S. Zervan) was observed to have walked out of the gate losing about 10 lengths at the start. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the filly in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting with her to race.
At the start, DANCING JADE (Bhawani Singh, dr. 8) jumped inwards and made contact with RETAINED ASSET (App. Malam Singh, dr. 7).
Approaching the 1000 metres, IMPERIAL HERITAGE (Amyn Merchant) dropped back thereby inconveniencing DANCING JADE (Bhawani Singh).
Passing the 600 metres, due to a tightly packed field NIGHTFALL (App. H. Zeeshan) was tightened along the rails and had to be checked.
Passing the 200 metres, RESOLUTE (Yash Narredu) shifted out on to ON VA DANSER (Dashrath Singh) forcing it outwards. After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu reported that his mount was running green. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
The Equine Hospital reported that LAMBRETTA had right eye injury (sore, corneal opacity and ulcer).
RACE NO.5 – THE ABEETA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 9
ADELE (T. S. Jodha) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter took an awkward fly jump thus losing about 2 lengths at the start. In view of above, Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Passing the 900 metres, TRUE GRIT (Akshay Gaikwad) shifted in under urgings thereby bumping and tightening RISING BRAVE (Kishore Kadam) causing the latter to be checked and drop back. Jockey Akshay Gaikwad has been suspended for one Race Day i.e. on 8th December, 2019 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
Passing the 500 metres, CLARK KENT (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out thereby inconveniencing IMPALA (Dashrath Singh) who had to be steadied. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.
Passing the 250 metres, IMPALA (Dashrath Singh) shifted in on to CLARK KENT (Neeraj Rawal) forcing it inwards. After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh reported that his mount hung-in despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, TRUE GRIT was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Sr. V.O. reported that after returning from the race, TOMMASO showed signs of distress. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment the gelding recovered. Thereafter, the gelding broke a blood vessel and was sent to the stables after sampling. The gelding is not to race for the stipulated ban period four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Equine Hospital reported that AUSPICIOUS had right eye injury (sore, lacrimation).
After the race, IMPALA and RISING BRAVE were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6 – THE RAZA ALI PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14
SUPREME BEING (Shrikant Kamble) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in the past, Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measures and show the gelding in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting with him to race.
DILBAR (Hanumant Singh) reared up after being stalled. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race.
After being stalled Jockey Amyn Merchant (GABRIEL) informed that the Cross Nose Band of his mount had broken and was left unserviceable. The gelding was taken out and the said equipment was replaced with the Club’s gear. However the gelding behaved fractiously resulting in damage to even the Club’s gear, as such, GABRIEL was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s orders.
At the start, C’EST L’AMOUR (Dashrath Singh, dr.9) jumped inwards and made contact with GOD’S DECREE (App. A. S. Peter, dr.8).
At the start, RIGHTEOUS (Leigh Roche, dr.12) jumped inwards and made contact with QUESTINA (David Egan, dr.11) who jumped out awkwardly throwing her head.
At the start, KNIGHT SUPERIOR (A. Sandesh) was observed to have stumbled.
Soon after the start, PEZULA (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across GOLD MEMBER (Santosh G.). Jockey S. Zervan has been cautioned.
The Sr. V.O. reported that KNIGHT SUPERIOR showed signs of distress after returning from the race. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment the gelding recovered and was sent to the stables.
The Equine Hospital reported that PEZULA had injury in both eyes (sore) and QUESTINA had left eye injury (sore, lacrimation).
After the race, DILBAR was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind stifle. RIGHTEOUS and GOD’S DECREE were found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.7 – THE VESUVIUS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 9
At the request of Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, ARTICULATE was examined at 1645 hours on 15/11/2019 and found to have fever, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the request of Trainer H. J. Antia, ROMANTIC WARRIOR was examined at 0730 hours on 16/11/2019 and found to have colic, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 1000 metres, SHE’S A TIGER (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across WILSHIRE (S. G. Prasad) forcing the latter to be checked and change course thereby inconveniencing COLLEGIUM (Vikram Jodha).
Approaching the 200 metres, WILSHIRE (S. G. Prasad) shifted in on to AME (N. S. Parmar) who had to be checked. On questioning, Jockey S. G. Prasad stated that his mount hung-in. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, App. A. S. Peter (ODESSA) reported the loss of whip at about 150 metres. This being his first instance of whip loss, no action has been initiated.
The Equine Hospital reported that RED CARNATION had left eye injury (sore) and VERDANDI had right eye injury (sore).
After the race, FURIOSA was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel and SHE’S A TIGER had lost its left hind shoe. AME and WILSHIRE were found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.8 – THE MAPLE STAR PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 9
The Equine Hospital reported that ATHULYA had injury in both eyes (sore, lacrimation), POWER OF THOR had right eye injury (sore, lacrimation) and FLYING DRAGON had left eye injury (eye closed completely with swelling).
After the race, SEVENTH MILE, KENNEDY and CUPIDO were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.9 – THE ASTRAL FLASH PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11
At the start, FIRE FLAME (App. P. S. Kaviraj, dr. 9) jumped outwards on to SHADOWS (Hanumant Singh, dr. 10) and at the same time NUSRAT (Amyn Merchant, dr. 11) jumped inwards and went across SHADOWS who had to be steadied.
Passing the 300 metres, HIGHLAND WIND (App. H. Zeeshan) shifted in on to WHISPERING QUEEN (App. A. .S Peter), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening SIXTH EMPEROR (App. S. A. Amit) along the rails. After questioning all concerned, App. H. Zeeshan has been fined Rs. 3,000/-.
After the race, FIRE FLAME was found to be sore by the left hind leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Equine Hospital reported that OSPREY ARROW had left eye injury (sore, corneal opacity and ulcer) and NUSRAT had right eye injury (sore corneal opacity and ulcer).

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 4th, 5th and 9th race, viz. TASCH, REVELATOR, AUSPICIOUS and DRAGONMOSS, and the special sample of HUNT FOR GOLD (2nd race), AWESOME ONE (3rd race) and TOMMASO (5th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 17th November, 2019 considered letter dated 24th October, 2019 from Trainer Vinesh in the above connection and having deliberated the matter, regretted their inability to accede to the request.

RE : RACE NO.104 – THE C.A.KUTS TROPHY RUN ON 22nd SEPTEMBER, 2019:
After the race, Jockey C. S. Jodha (TRUE GRIT) reported the loss of whip at about 50 metres from the winning post. This being his second instance during the current Pune Meeting 2019, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

Jockey S. Zervan (TASCH) was observed to have dropped his hands before passing the winning post thus losing the Third Place. After questionin,g Jockey S. Zervan and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

RE : CONFIRMATORY ANALYSIS REPORT IN RESPECT OF b c “EXCELLENT SORRENTO” (BLEEDER) IN RACE NO.3 – THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE RUN ON 25th JULY, 2019 – IN CHARGE OF TRAINER M. NARREDU:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 17th November, 2019 considered the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 3rd October, 2019 from L C H, France, in respect of the sample of urine taken from EXCELLENT SORRENTO (Bleeder) in Race No.3 – The Double Bull Plate run on 25th July, 2019, which read as under :-
“…..It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analyzed as set out above, contains COBALT at a concentration above the international threshold”
A copy of the above report was given to Trainer M. Narredu and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr. Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.
Further, as per the Medication Rules, the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify EXCELLENT SORRENTO (Unplaced) in Race No.3 – The Double Bull Plate run on 25th July, 2019.
