RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED ABOUT 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1700 METRES TILL 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE TILL 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge GRAND DESIGN in the 4th race, at his (Trainer Shyam S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(215) – THE DESERT CARNIVAL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, LET IT FLY (App.Nikhil Bhujbal, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and went  on to MEDIATOR (V.Phadke, dr.5).  

 

Near 900 metres, HEAVENLY PRIZE (Kavraj Singh) shifted in and caused AURARIA (Dashrath Singh) to shift in, who in turn caused interference to NANINA (C.S.Jodha). ITSMYWAY (App.S.Mosin) who was travelling behind, was also inconvenienced. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been fined Rs.3000/-.

 

Making the home turn, AURARIA (Dashrath Singh) and MEDIATOR (V.Phadke) bumped.

 

Trainer S.K.Sunderji was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge in this race which the gelding won as compared to its previous runs during the current Pune Meeting. The Trainer was asked to explain the performance of his charge in view of the fact that he had engaged mediocre Jockeys and the horse was available at longer odds in its previous four starts as compared to its run today. The Trainer stated that the gelding had performed well over 1200 metres during the last Mumbai Meeting and in its previous run in Race no 189, it was a Class IV race and the gelding was only 4 lengths behind the winner. He added that he could not get App Prasad to ride this time, as the Master of the Apprentice, Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi, had a runner. He added that the gelding had been racing on a forward position and the race today was over 1000 metres.  The explanation was noted.  

 

After the race, LET IT FLY was found to be sound, but having a gum injury. PRINCE and NANINA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(216) – THE  D.N.ZODGE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres  – 8 Runners

 

At the start, RECKLESS ROMEO (Dashrath Singh) dipped, losing ground.

 

Jockey V.Phadke (STUNTACULAR) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out under the use of the whip in the straight.

 

QUEENS KISS (Shrikant Kamble) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of STUNTACULAR (V Phadke) in the final stages of the race.

 

Jockey V.Phadke (STUNTACULAR) has been cautioned for failing to ride out his mount till past the Post.

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (NATIONAL IKON) reported that his mount lugged out while negotiating the bend. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, NATIONAL IKON was found to be sound. SLEUTH was examined at the stables on 20/10/2012 and found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel and pastern. 

 

RACE NO.3(217) – THE  DESERT CARNIVAL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the start, GARARO (A.Ashhad Asbar) jumped awkwardly outwards, hitting the outside Gate and went on to DESERT EAGLE (J.Chinoy) forcing DESERT EAGLE to shift out on to LADY WILLINGDON (Akash Agarwal), both having being steadied, losing ground. Due to this incidence, Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar broke his left stirrup iron and became unbalanced and was dislodged from his mount, giving him a harmless fall. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

 

While negotiating the bend, GARARO, who was riderless, brushed VENEZIANO (Kavraj Singh), who in turn went out on to BLESSED (App.Tushar Nemane).

 

DESERT EAGLE (J.Chinoy) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, HOT AS ICE, KOHIMA GIRL, LADY WILLINGDON, GARARO and DESERT EAGLE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(218) – THE  ASHWAMEDHA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 5 Runners

 

MAPLE STAR (P.Trevor) lugged out during the race. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (GRAND DESIGN) reported loss of whip near 300 metres.

 

After the race, FARAMARZ was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MAPLE STAR was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(219) – THE YOGENDER SINGH TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (ARABIAN FIGHTER) has been fined Rs.3000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

Trainer Subhag Singh was given an opportunity to explain the comparative performance of his charge DEEP PURPLE in this race which the gelding won as compared to its previous runs during the current Pune Meeting. The Trainer stated that the Instructions to Jockey T.S.Jodha were to ride his own race. He added that he had run the gelding after 6 weeks and had fancied him in Place. He added that it was a weak field and was a restricted race for horses 5 years old and over. The explanation was noted.

 

Trainer Altaf Hussain was examined with regard to the positioning of his charge, ARABIAN FIGHTER, in this race, to which he stated that he had instructed Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar to be in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th position and to do his best in the straight. The Jockey confirmed the Instructions and stated that he was asked not to travel wide. To another query, the Jockey stated that in the first 200 metres, he had an opportunity to be in position as instructed but he would have had to travel wide and also brush up his mount, which could have been detrimental to the chances of his mount, therefore he had slowed down at that stage. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, SIZZLING LOVE was observed to have a bruise at the left hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.6(220) – THE  AQUILO PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners

 

KOH SAMUI (Imran Chisty) was restless in the stall. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey Imran Chisty (KOH SAMUI) reported that he brushed his right shoulder as his mount jumped out of the Gates.

 

KOH SAMUI (Imran Chisty) lugged out and HAY DAY (C.S.Jodha) hung out while negating the bend. In the straight HAY DAY ran along the outer rails. Trainers P.Shroff and Imtiaz A.Sait have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar (CORNELIAN) reported that his mount lugged out during the race. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (SCARLATTI) reported that his mount was not moving freely in the race. The Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that SCARLATTI was examined at the stables on 20/10/2012 and found to be sound, but having a cut injury at both the hocks  Also, the gelding had wolf tooth left side. Tr.Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, CORNELIAN,, HAY DAY and KOH SAMUI were found to be sound.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after the race FRANCOIS was observed to be tied up. The gelding was treated in the saddling enclosure and thereafter he was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(221) – THE D.N.ZODGE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres– 9 Runners

 

TAG ALONG TOMMY (Ishwar Pardeshi) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SAN RAFAEL (S.Sunil) was eased off the heels of CAPITANO (Shrikant Kamble).

 

TAG ALONG TOMMY (Ishwar Pardeshi)  laid out, rounding the home turn.

After the race, PRINCESS KHATOUM was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock and SAN RAFAEL had a gum injury. MARENGO, WARRIOR PRINCE and  DIVINE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(222) – THE KOJAGIRI PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 8 Runners

 

CAPAITAL ATTRACTION (Dashrath Singh) lost about 3 lengths at the start.

 

SUMO (C.S.Jodha) lugged out in the last 100 metres and hampered the running of SNOW MOUNTAIN (A.Sandesh). Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. 

 

RACE NO.9(223) – THE YOGENDER SINGH TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, GLORIA (Akash Agarwal) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Soon after the start, APOCLYPSE (App.S.Mosin) was inconvenienced as ROSE BOWL (App.Prasad) shifted in. App.Prasad has been cautioned.

Near 500 metres, ROSE BOWL (App.Prasad) weakened and dropped back and in doing so, ROGER BCOOL (S.Zervan) was inconvenienced.

 

Jockey Akash Agarwal (GLORIA) has been cautioned for travelling wide while negotiating the bend and in the straight.

 

STAR PRINCE (Kavraj Singh) ) trailed the field. Trainer S.Mangalorkar  has been asked to ensure that his charge is more competitive in its future runs.

 

After the race, APOCALYPSE was found to be sound, but having an abrasion at the left fore pastern. POUND FOOLISH had a cut injury at the left hock. STAR PRINCE was examined at the stables on 20/10/2012 and found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of  2nd, 5th & 6th race, viz. AUGUSTUS, DEEP PURPLE  and KOH SAMUI, and the special sample of FARAMARZ (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.195 – THE HAWKE BAY PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 7TH OCTOBER, 2012 – APP.TUSHAR NEMANE (MOUNTAIN SONG) - REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CAUSING CARELESS RIDING:

The Stewards at their meeting held on Friday, 19th October, 2012 interviewed App.Tushar Nemane, who was accompanied by his Master, Tr.P.Shroff and having heard them and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App.Tushar Nemane and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount MOUNTAIN SONG. In that that, approaching 900 metres, MOUNTAIN SONG shifted out and carried AFSOON (App.Nikhil Bhujbal) outwards, due to which MZIMA (App.Prabhu Naidu), who was racing behind AFSOON, clipped the hind heels of AFSOON and stumbled, nearly dislodging its Rider. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s license for 18th November, 2012 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : RACE NO.195 – THE HAWKE BAY PLATE (DIV.I) RUN ON 7TH OCTOBER, 2012 –JOCKEY AKSHAY (SILVER SILVER) REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING:

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on Friday, 19th October, 2012 interviewed Jockey Akshay and having heard him and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount. In that that, approaching 900 metres, SILVER SILVER shifted in and jostled APOCALYPSE (App.S.Mosin) who in turn shifted in and caused interference to the horses on his inside. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 18th November, 2012 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
