RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “WILDHORN” IN RACE NO. 10 – THE ENLIGHTENMENT PLATE RUN ON 28thJULY, 2017
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that immediately after the above race, Trainer B. Prakash approached the Stipendiary Stewards and informed that he had instructed Apprentice K. Nazil to go to the front or sit second. He felt that since “HARMONY” had already gone to the front, there was no need for App K. Nazil to chase and he should have rather settled behind “HARMONY”.
When questioned, Apprentice K. Nazil said that he was instructed to go to the front or sit second if somebody was cutting a strong pace. He added that soon after the start Jockey Dashrath Singh on “HARMONY” came alongside at which point his mount got keen and while he made an effort to settle his mount, it hung inwards. This, he felt could be due to the gelding being blind from one eye. While stating the above, App. K. Nazil also accepted his fault at not being able to read the pace correctly thereby relying on the judgment of an experienced rider and going with the flow.
The above explanation tendered was noted.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “HARMONY” INRACE NO. 10 – THE ENLIGHTENMENT PLATE RUN ON 28th JULY, 2017
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection. Trainer Lagad said that HARMONY had come to his charge from Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed who along with Jockey Bhavani Singh had told him that the mare runs well from the front and was more of a one pace horse. He said that the instructions to Jockey Dashrath Singh were given by the owners and himself jointly i.e. to go to the front and ensure that she kicks on. However, soon after the start “WILDHORN” came alongside HARMONY, at which point both the Jockeys began to cut pace with each other. Also, “WILDHORN” leaned inwards on to his mare passing 1600 metres, which he felt could be due to “WILDHORN” being blind from one eye. Trainer Narendra Lagad went on to say that after watching the race in question, he now feels that the mare may run better off the pace and he intends to change the running pattern next time out.
When questioned, Jockey Dashrath Singh confirmed the instructions and said that he had never ridden this mare before.
The explanation tendered by Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey Dashrath Singh has been noted for future reference.
